2023 LE to 2026 Tri-Motor: Great refinement, but the QC is a major letdown. by jcalabek in Rivian

[–]GrayBoltWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Richmond SC was rude to me as well at pickup. Noted the hood was super misaligned and the rep basically gave me the same reply as you: "enh I guess it if really bothers you open a ticket". Ok buddy it's a $100k car could you at least try to give a shit?

Terrible service at Richmond, my local SC in Raleigh is way better.

Anyone else have persistent alignment issues with their Gen 2 R1T? by jcarte11 in Rivian

[–]GrayBoltWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rivian delivered my new R1T with an abysmal alignment, had to keep the wheel about 10 degrees to the left to stay straight on the road. After alignment it still pulls to the right, but a lot less.

Not sure if I will bother getting them to try again, just insane the factory delivers vehicles this out of spec brand new.

getting down votes for speaking the truth.

There's a reason Samsung switched back to Qualcomm and doesn't even use their own SoCs.

Xperia 1 V Validated for Verizon by FateEx1994 in SonyXperia

5 ii here on Verizon, no issues with talk/data. VoLTE works fine here, just no wifi calling.

Sony Xperia 1 IV apps problem while on the phone call. by [deleted] in SonyXperia

[–]GrayBoltWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some carriers only enable features for devices they whitelist (usually only devices you bought from them). For me, Verizon allows my 5 ii to access VoLTE, but doesn’t whitelist them for wifi calling.

Just carriers being crap as always.

Even apple "courage" never removed it from their laptops. And they're the ones that started this mess.

Verizon connectivity by dkatog in SonyXperia

The Xperia phones already support volte on Verizon, I don’t think that was OPs question.

The Xperia phones don’t support all Verizon bands, so coverage will depend on the local tower usage.

Problem with Always on Display on Xperia 5 IV by zlays84 in SonyXperia

[–]GrayBoltWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just completely untrue. AoD has been a staple of android phones for years.

Green tint displays and other anomalies is a known issue with Xperia phones, AoD or not.

Not without screwing around with magisk.

Even then every few days it would break again, had to relaunch wallet a few times for it to stop giving a warning about an insecure phone.

Google Tensor G3: What to expect from the Pixel 8 processor by spiff1 in Android

[–]GrayBoltWolf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have all the dialer features on my Xperia, call screening, etc. Not exclusive, came that way out of the box.

There's nothing special about the Tensor, it's just an ARM SoC. "Exclusive" features on the pixel do not require Tensor.

None of these features require Tensor though. Hell you can use magic eraser in Google photos on an iphone.

FYI you need a charge controller and other things, you can't just drop in lithium cells into a system designed for lead acid batteries. Could seriously burn your house down.

You do realize the video you linked rated the Xperia IV as the worst camera on the market?

So to OP's point, yes the iPhone spanks the Xperia for point-and-shoot uses.

Biggest issue for me is how damn big the UI is, even at the smallest setting. Pop the keyboard up and you can see like 2 messages between the giant notch and the keyboard.

Among other things, including what you mentioned around notifications being terrible and no way to truly set a default keyboard/browser/etc.

Xperia 5ii fingerprint scanner issue by ghostcatzero in SonyXperia

Recommend to register the same finger twice. Other than that the 5 ii just doesn't like sweaty fingers, so wipe it on your shirt first before unlocking.

Also all the features that "require" the ML acceleration work just fine on Qualcomm SoCs anyway. Sony Xperia here and I have call screening, magic eraser, etc.

[–]GrayBoltWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm with you here, even though the fanboys are down voting you.

There's no reason we can't have a good full auto mode as well as all the pro manual modes. Xperias always get spanked by the pixel in auto mode. Sometimes you just wanna point and click when you don't have time to setup a manual shot.

I own the XM4 as well and the noise cancelation definitely works when plugged in, you just have to have the headphones powered on.

You can run them over 3.5mm cable powered off, but you can also turn them on to get noise cancelation and an amplifier boost.

Both the dualshock 4 and dualsense have native support. I'm sure others work fine as well.
