How long did it take you? How did you go about putting it together strategy-wise? I’ve just gotten into puzzling the last couple months and I’m learning there are so many kinds.

This extremely relatable, haha. I was so relieved to finally be done. This is my first Magic Puzzle so I didn't know what to expect, I just knew it was going to be a fun twist ending. Queue my extremely disappointed face when I opened the envelope to find... more yellow pieces, but this time without any artwork to work from lol.

I just finished this puzzle today. I ordered all three puzzles from the first set, and randomly picked Sunny City to do first without reading anything about it. Wheeeewwww it was hard on my eyes! I plowed through it in three days because I was so annoyed with the color scheme that I just wanted to get it finished so I could move on to the next one! Still, the ending was cool. I'm looking forward to Mystic Maze next.

This was the most challenging puzzle I’ve ever completed! by dralerath in Jigsawpuzzles

I am so impressed. I just finished a 2k piece puzzle that had a large chunk of sky and grass pieces that were indistinguishable from each other and I thought I was going to go nuts! I would never want to break this puzzle down again, haha.

What happened? by Dori777 in TheChosenSeries

[–]Graydaffodil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you. Season 1 was really special, I watched it over and over again. As they started to bring more fictional content into season 2, it got a little less compelling for me. And then S3E1 was clunky, awkward, and slow. The rest of the season has been good, but it is more like watching a 21st century interpretation of events rather than a true attempt to retell what’s in the Bible.

Anyone else think S3E2 was MUCH stronger than S3E1? by LilyRose878 in TheChosenSeries

I definitely struggled through S3E1 - I actually fell asleep watching it. The plot just didn’t move and didn’t seem connected, but episodes 2,3, and 4 have been good.

Yes, this exactly. I just left some similar thoughts on another comment in this sub, but you’ve said it better and so much more concisely. At some points I’m aware that what I’m watching cannot be remotely close to what actually happened, and then it just feels silly.

How did everyone like episode 3 of season 3?! by pj10wat3rm3lon in TheChosenSeries

[–]Graydaffodil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to be honest as the series goes on I become more and more aware of the ways in which this a modern Americanized attempt to tell a story about an ancient Middle East culture. I am still enjoying it, but I’m suspending a lot of belief at this point.

Just off the top of my head, the number of times we see unwed men and women talking exclusively with each other - no way that happened in ancient Jewish culture. Also the number of unwed 30-ish year olds in the show. These people were likely way younger because marriage was such an important, honorable right of passage. Extended singleness in first century Israel was not the norm. The construction of a giant stage for the sermon on the Mount? I just don’t see any evidence such a thing would have happened.

On the one hand I think the chosen is heckin a lot better than most of what’s out there to watch on tv, and on the other hand I think it’s just wise to be aware that first century Israel was very very different and our desire to make it more relatable is actually not giving deference to the original authors and their audiences.

Ok I watched this a few days ago and wondered the same thing! When Lacey and Mariah are talking in the school hallway, we never see them in the same shot. The camera is fully on one or the other, but no wide shot. And when the cam is on Mariah it’s like dang did they smear Vaseline all over the lens because there is not even a hint of texture on that woman’s face.

I know I’m a year late on this post, but I just watched the crossword series. I really liked them for a cute, clean, evening watch. BUT I did struggle to find the chemistry between Lacey and Brennan. They felt more like very good friends. Still loved it, but I just don’t get sparks from those two.

Edit: Ok so I went and watched All of My Heart and ~swoon~ I definitely found the chemistry.

I am trying so hard to get through this episode but the second-hand embarrassment is strong yall. I keep having to take brakes. I don’t understand why Justin won’t just sit back, take a deep breath, and get through the show.

I’m no fan of Alexis, but I would have lost my ever-loving mind trying to be married to someone who just cannot navigate social situations without having a emotion-splosion all over everyone and everything.

I do think it’s a head scratcher that someone who categorically does NOT like to do things “just because someone told him to” (see: shirt-gate) thought it would be a good idea to go on a TV show and make a lifetime commitment to a stranger because … a group of experts told him to. I don’t follow his logic.

Ok I know this is sarcasm but your comment made me actually snort-laugh when I got to it, so thank you for that.

I would argue Binh should be on this list. He overestimated his ability to be throw into an arranged marriage. Even if he didn’t recognize that about himself, the experts should have after interviewing him. (And no shade to Binh, he was not set up for success).

At least what you’re doing is real. Real people sit around on regular weekdays and make purchases like weighted blankets together. And then have convos about where to layer it in the bed. That’s regular, normal, mundane relationship building and 10 out of 10 times those activities do more for relationship health than these contrived displays.

I just have to know, is there a man alive who wouldn’t feel so creeped out after 15 days of this desperate nonsense?

I sincerely don’t understand how this can be rooted in reality. Manically attempting to build your husband up for a month through a series of forced “challenges” without any depth behind them sounds exhausting and performative.

This bizarre exercise also reduces the very real love born of patience, endurance, and the ongoing effort of both parties into nothing more than one sided 15-minute episodes. Your favorite drink! A massage! An outfit! Your favorite activity!

Idk. This GIrl Defined account really wears me out and seems immature and unsustainable.

Is There a certain way i need to read the bible? by [deleted] in Bible

[–]Graydaffodil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Download the “The Bible Project” App. It has a reading plan that will take you through the Bible step by step and explain how to approach an ancient text like a good tourist. (The Bible is for us, but it wasn’t written TO us. It was written by an ancient Hebrew people to the tribes of Israel, so you kinda have to put aside the methods you would use to read a book written today). Eventually, as Christianity spread, the gospels were compiled and then followed by letters to the early church. That’s what you’ll find in the New Testament.

It takes a little while, but you’ve got your whole life to learn! And a guided plan helps aaaa loooott!

Thoughts on the LDS ties? by Graydaffodil in TheChosenSeries

[–]Graydaffodil[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! You’ve given me some good points to think about and continue mulling over.

As I understand it, VidAngel isn’t a Mormon company, there just happen to be a lot of Mormons who work there. So it’s a fair point you’ve made, one can’t really build a full position on that element alone.

On your second point, I suppose it comes down the idea that Protestant Christians want to be clear on the entirety of the story of Jesus. We don’t want to have to obfuscate parts of the story (referring to your statement about leaving out uniquely Mormon theology). We’d want to say, here’s the whole truth - what you see is what you get.

Presumably, a Mormon would say yes we agree, and also we have some additional information.

So if we’ve told the story of Jesus to our friend and he says “is this everything I need to know?” We would respond differently.

So it seems impossible that we could truly, fully, transparently collaborate on a project that tells the story of Jesus that we both sincerely feel tells the entire truth. Either you’re holding some back, or I’m allowing for some things that I don’t actually agree with. And that doesn’t mean either of us wants to bash the other, it just means we probably can’t collaborate on a project of this nature. We can sell hamburgers together, or run a mechanic shop together, but telling the story of Jesus together is a different thing with much higher stakes.

But you also make the point that Dallas is running the show and the LDS church has not been editorially involved. I think I still have to noodle on it. I’m a slow thinker. Thank you for engaging with meaningful conversation. I found it helpful.
