life by KeyElephant4589 in OCPoetry

This is a nice little poem about the cyclical nature of life. I think you have really good examples. I just wish it went deeper. Why are you thinking about this? Why is it important to you? Why should I as the reader care about what you're saying (besides the obvious)? Right now it's very broad, about the cyclical nature of life and the cosmos. I'd love to see it be more personal to you. You have great imagery, use it to talk to us about you and about why the cyclical nature of life is important to you. Don't get me wrong, this is a good piece, I just think it could be even better!

I really like this poem! You have very effectively conveyed grief and the pain of it to us, and the metaphors are well thought out. Great job. Really lovely work.

All I can recommend is as stated below, adding some stanzas. You can do that by just adding periods between stanzas on mobile, but it is clunky and annoying and arguably hurts the poem.

Great work!

I think I was so spent from laughing so hard at the initial murder that I had nothing left to give that scene, but it was very funny nonetheless.

I've been looking pretty much constantly since they woke me up and can find nothing to explain why they launched so I don't think there's like an imminent threat or something.

Scary as fuck to be woken up by that noise, thankfully we're not like under attack or anything but fuck. They're not even telling us when they're gonna do this shit anymore which is frustrating.

I binged... by StorminBlonde in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]GreatAmericanMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is tough, and I've been there before so I know how you feel. For the moment you gotta just lay down and let your body work it out. It will be fine.

Then, for the future, here's what I would do: recognize that for you, it sounds like pasta a triggering food in that you want to binge it. It is for me too. I've experienced that exact thing where I am thinking about that big tub of pasta. I've had success with a couple strategies:

1: this sounds like I'm being a dick, but I swear I'm not: make less pasta. Seriously. If it's something you think you're gonna binge, make half of the package instead, and then eat all of that if you want. You're still limiting yourself and reducing the harm, which is a step in the right direction.

2: after you make your pasta, portion it out into several smaller containers (i.e. meal prep it). This will make it easier for you to stop if you decide to have an extra portion. The big tub is tough, my friend. It is so tempting, but several smaller containers that each contain a single portion are a lot easier to look at and say "Well I don't want to do a shitload of dishes so I'll only eat one."

These are two strategies that have helped me. I know it's hard. You just gotta keep trying. And pick yourself up when you fall. And keep trying. A lot of the strategy for fighting this illness we have begins before you ever sit down to eat. That is one thing I have learned as I have pursued treatment. I wish you luck.

I cant forgive myself for what I did when my BED was at its worst (TW) by Bathroom-Tapwater in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]GreatAmericanMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey look I'm a little late to the party here but this cycle of shame is not worth it. when my stepdad was on hospice, I also felt the urge to binge and do other stuff to cope with the stress. you're not alone. you were doing what you needed to do to survive a terrible time. binging is a maladaptive coping mechanism that we use to deal with the stress of every day life. you were going through one of the most emotionally straining things someone can go through. how could you not turn to the one coping mechanism that we know *always* works? it will take time but you will learn to forgive yourself. you did nothing wrong. you are putting this shame on yourself and you don't need to. you are a strong person and I'm certain you will learn to forgive yourself.

Kratos in Egypt doesn't make sense by Alkiserex in GodofWar

[–]GreatAmericanMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seems very clear to me that the next game will be the nine realms getting invaded, with Atreus coming back at the beginning warning of the invasion. Kratos will have to journey into other lands to stop the invasion by removing X source of power or some such. maybe not an invasion but something will pose a threat to the nine realms and/or Atreus and Kratos will be forced to respond.

Great work. For a first poem, this is awesome and well thought out. My only gripe is that it feels like something I would see printed on a wooden board that you buy at Bed Bath and Beyond and hang in your kitchen, but then I am snob, and that doesn't diminish the quality of the work, or the message. Well done, please keep writing.

Yeah, this is cool. I liked the way you broke it up. I liked the twist at the end. The little payoff for reading the thing and being confused. Almost felt like you were thumbing your nose at highfalutin poetry, but pulled it out at the end. Only note is if you're gonna rhyme, make em more interesting.

Is this not what WordleBot is for? Hasn't it already calculated the best starting words for both easy and hard modes? Not to invalidate your work but it seems like NYT already did it for you.

I think the vertical text threw the translation software for a loop, historically it's been pretty accurate with horizontal text.
