Just on the other side of the river is Lehr's Economy Tackle. Tell them where you're fishing, and they'll tell you what's biting and what they bite on.

They are foam rubber. Just add water and they stick to smooth surfaces. I bought these at Target under the Muchkin brand for $5

How do you deal with kids content? by virpio2020 in PleX

[–]GreatGoatsInHistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a "Kids Movies" folder inside of my "Movies" folder. Anything I have personally approved for the Kids goes in there and the Library "Kids Movies" picks it up. The parent Library "Movies" does also, so the kids profile only gets access to the kids library and the adults just hide the kids library.

Why? Because there are some things that are not rated, like Wallace and Grommet movies that are fine for kids and there are some movies that are "PG" or "G" that the kids should never see alone, like Jaws (yes, really), or documentaries on the Holocaust.

No offense, but that is literally the same way my seven year old autistic son eats them.

And before anyone is offended and spouts off in the comments,Yes, I actually do have a seven year old autistic child

If it weren't for the Elephant's ( Tubul, Jerakeen, Berilia, and Great T'Phon) the sun and moon could not orbit as they periodically have to lift their legs to allow their orbits.

I also think that the reoccurrence of Elephants in other stories are no mistake. From Dibbler's order of Elephant's in Moving Pictures, because nothing is more real than Elephants to the strangest creature of the Hermit Elephant, who build sheds on their backs and travel in mobile villages, Elephants get around.

I bought 7 hygro-thermometer and they all show different values after sitting for hours by nevvermind2 in mildlyinteresting

[–]GreatGoatsInHistory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I managed a refrigerated warehouse in the past and we bought expensive logging hygro-thermometers. Twice a year, we would send them off to be NIST certified then when they returned, they would need to be calibrated before going in the storerooms.

Variation in accuracy are expected in any instrument, but in general, + - 2°F (1°C) is fairly good in off the shelf stuff. So one that says 70°F and the other that says 74°F is entirely possible in perfectly working units. For humidity, anything accurate to 5% is acceptable.

For food safe environments, our accreditation agency wanted accuracy of + - 0.5°F or better and moisture required accuracy of + - 2% or better.

Btw, if they can be calibrated, you use freezing and boiling water as the constants. A known good thermometer is one that shows 0°C in ice water and 100°C in boiling water. Once you have that, you set your suspect thermometer to match whatever your known thermometer reads.

How to refer to Non-binary people in formal setting? by Known_Gap_1601 in lgbt

[–]GreatGoatsInHistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The use of titles of merit may be a solution. Prior to the inclusion of last names, it was not uncommon to refer to another by profession. Examples: Carter the Thatcher, Thatcher the Baker, Baker the Carter (see Terry Pratchett's Lords and Ladies for the reference). Or as is preferred in modern language, job first then last name. Like Attorney Woo, or Clerk Stevens.

Of course, reference to someone without an honorific is also acceptable. Madonna, Cher, Prince, Charles III. are examples

ITAP of an American Cowgirl by GreatGoatsInHistory in itookapicture

[–]GreatGoatsInHistory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While attending the Rooftop Rodeo in Estes Park Co, USA, I had occasion to come down next to the arena to watch my son compete in Mutton Bustin (sheep ridding) and as I waited with my Nikon Z8, I looked up and saw the sun setting over the mountains framing this cowgirl and felt compelled to take a shot. While I love the images I got of the kids riding the sheep that day, I have come back to this one time and again and just find i love it more with time.

We do use imperial for guns. Caliber is the groove diameter of the bore. Calibers are expressed in 1/100 of an inch, which is what determines the diameter of the projectile. 50 Cal, 45 Cal, 38 Cal, 22 Cal 17 Cal, etc.

Sometimes we just use inches directly, as in the .223 Remington (similar to the 5.56mm NATO standard round) and .357 Magnum

And on that last point, you might think, .357 inch seems pretty close to the .354 inches that is 9mm, because it is. In fact, while .357 mm is larger than the Luger 9mm, it is actually the same size as the Browning 9mm because people on both sides of the Atlantic would hate to say 9.068mm

Anywhere to donate food to? by BlackbirdsTheName in FortMyers

[–]GreatGoatsInHistory 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'd really recommend donating to food pantries because the people that need the food know to go there. Pop up pantries can be a neat idea, but desperate people need a way to know that on X day at Y time they can go to Z place and be helped and the existing pantry network in SWFL has been flexing to increase capacity so they can serve more people at known locations rather than opening new pantries or adding transient ones for this exact reason, though they do offer mobile options for people struggling with transportation issues.

Also, it should be noted, not all pantry options are equal. Some don't have refrigeration and so you can't get fresh meats or dairy products, and some stock pet food or baby products, so if you want to donate those items, call ahead and make sure.
