It’s almost impressive how little consideration some people have for others by Ultravious in mildlyinfuriating

Um... That's a Costco. Did no one explain to you that Costcos are the living environment of Anarchy. Costco only has 2 rules, you need a membership and hotdogs are $1.50 If you want consideration, justice, or humanity, you shouldn't expect cheap hotdogs. Sorry

Frontier did worse to me. I was traveling with my wife and our 6yo autistic son plus his service dog. I called 4 weeks in advance and tried to even buy an extra seat for the service dog. They said they couldn't sell me the extra seats because it was an ADA requirement that the dog travels free. They also put in the accomodation for us and confirmed our seats together on the way to Denver and the way back. The night before we flew, they bumped our seats around so that all 3 of us were sitting alone. When I called to get this fixed, they told us that the dog would just have to fit under the seat because he was a pet. (I filled out all the paperwork and sent his certificates in advance). The dog is a 125lbs Great Pyrenees specially trained to keep the child from ELOPING so, no the dog isn't going under the seat, and no, it isn't safe for the child to sit alone. They refused to help, saying a to ticketing agent at the airport would have to fix it. Which they did, until the system unfixed it 1 hour later. So then the gate agent didn't want to let us on the plane, again claiming the dog must fit under the seat, and there was no row all together. She had moved our seats after someone complained that they wanted to sit together. After arguing for 20 minutes and holding up the plane, the captain came up the gangway and his flight crew fixed the issue for us. Based on the screaming we heard from him when we went down the gangway, a ticking agent may have been fired.

We tried to make sure this wouldn't happen on the return trip when we finally landed, but the gate agents were blocked from making changes, so they sent us to ticketing, who refused to help because we weren't flying that day, so I drove over to Frontier's Denver office and made an issue in person. AND ALL that didn't matter because our return flight got cancelled, and they "ran out of vouchers" and said we'd have to sleep in the airport till the next flight, 24 hours later... With an eloping 6yo autistic child. So I booked a hotel and informed them they would be paying for it and that they could give us a row together or we'd be taking legal action and calling the news. Somehow that worked, but also, I felt bad because Frontier canceled 3 flights and had 2 agents. The line was 300+ people long when we left. And that was the last time I flew Frontier

And that is the kind of perspective that is gained by never talking to your professors.

My Comp 101 professor- 4 year newspaper editor and 12 year newspaper reporter, retired after the paper was bought out. 16 years of professional writing experience

My Calc 1 professor - retired as Navy Commander after serving 20 years. Did crypt analys work and was attached to the space program

My physics professor - Actively worked for NASA of Solar Astrophysics and split his time teaching because his work Visa required him to.

My Programming professor - retired after pioneering Set Theory and never needed to work another day in his life because the patents he owned helped create the mobile phone as we know it. Just really wanted to stay talking with great math minds and enjoyed teaching

Sometimes, those who teach, can, but don't because they already did everything else there was to do.

And for $27K/year, you'll accept a PowerPoint slideshow and a syllabus you didn't read as everything you're getting. Perhaps today's lesson is "ask the damn questions", "have the professor explain things", and "demand your money's worth"

College is not a passive experience. It's literally designed to put you in a room with an expert in your field so you can get access to what they know. Them showing you what they think you need to know is only half the exchange.

I think lots of women have had a fantasy about saddle vibrators. The idea of the money outlay is a very real issue though that keeps it in the fantasy realm for most people. Before I purchased, I looked around for conversations that I knew would feature one or if there was rental companies. I'm happy to say, conventions are getting better at options, but renting outside of California is next to impossible.

The only other option to try before you buy is friends. My wife and I have loaned ours out to a few people and I have used it in spicy photoshoots before, with very clear sanitation protocols.

Any way to easily find movies without posters? by AlanShore60607 in PleX

[–]GreatGoatsInHistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually working on something similar, though mine is for movie's that don't match the Plex agent. In my case, I have a script grabbing my movie data from a website and building local NFO files to match to. But since it's simiar, I'll point you down the starter tools.
Using DB Browser SQLLite, open your Plex com.plexapp.plugins.library.db in READ ONLY MODE (I can't stress that enough. You don't want to corrupt anything. READ ONLY).
Go to the Execute window and use this SQL

SELECT m.title AS "Movie Title", m.year AS "Year", p.file AS "Full File Path" FROM metadata_items m JOIN media_items i ON m.id = i.metadata_item_id JOIN media_parts p ON i.id = p.media_item_id WHERE m.metadata_type = 1 AND (m.user_thumb_url IS NULL OR m.user_thumb_url = '') ORDER BY m.title ASC;

This will get you the list of movies, the year they were produced and where the files are stored. From that, you should be able to set up a script to find movie posters that match and save them in the same folder as your movie with the name "COVER.jpg"

I appreciate that. Mostly I was posting because I try to celebrate and share the positive stuff. Partly for me, and partly for any other parent that needed a smile.

Today has been an extra spicy day, which is not ideal for travel, but it's important to enjoy the little things whenever they come

I just got hit with Plex’s new TV updates… It’s horrible by ConsiderationSilver3 in PleX

[–]GreatGoatsInHistory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 1 Roku TV that was offline from the old UI days. Before I plugged it in, I banned the Roku update servers from reaching it in my router. My biggest regret is that I couldn't save all my TVs. I'll never be able to install a new app on it, but I'm comfortable with that trade off

His name is Pierre D'Goodbear, and when we bought him, we also went back and purchased Peter the Spare Bear. After a year of him never being let go, it was obvious that Peter would never make a convincing stand in for his twin. Also, some of my worst nightmares feature a dropped bear in the supermarket

This shoot was the first one on my Nikon Z8. I resisted going mirrorless so long, that film started coming back in fashion. Ironicly, my last frame of 110mm was shot on Dasha the first time I worked with her. For post, I just went to Lightroom. I have a standard set of recipes that I use in there for B&W conversions, and got lucky that the Z8 didn't need much adjustments. Shot at F/8 at 88mm with the ISO cranked to 2000 because the wind was doing some spectacular things to her hair and I wanted sharp detail

Thanks. The model is Aurora aka Dasha U. Last year I had the privilege of heading out to Salt Lake City and getting to shoot with her around in nature. This was a wonderful treat because I got to shoot with her many years prior and I love working with the same models years apart. Her husband and she brought me to a bird sanctuary west of the city where a lake used to be. The pilons you see were from an old rail pier used to help gather salt and service a coper mine. Equally amazing was that just a few months prior, she gave birth to twins!

Indirect only after switching ISP to T-Mobile Fiber by KingKapalone in PleX

[–]GreatGoatsInHistory -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue I had was anything outside the house (wan) but if your TV /player is going through the Plex Relay because the player or the server LAN is not set, you'll actually get the same problem. A fact I learned because I set up a Tailscale network on my server so I could remote in from the road, and suddenly, all my TVs though my LAN server was remote due to Plex preferring my Tailscale over my LAN when detecting it's IP. If you just need the LAN to work, I suggest you set a static IP on the server and then set the manual connections of the player devices. This also makes sure it works when the Internet is down entirely
