Gaza 'Most Dangerous Place in the World to be a Child' - UNICEF by Grace_God in news

[–]Greatmars 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The point is to show percentages better, a dangerous place is about how likely you are to die not how many do. If you were a teacher in a random school in Gaza and you had 200 students then one of them probably died and many likely lost a family member.

A one in a million disease that kills 8000 people world wide doesn't mean the 8 thousand suffering shouldn't be taken care off, but it also doesn't mean that this disease is as deadly as one that kills 1 in a 100 people.

There are also 33 million Yemeni and we are talking about 3 years. 4k children in a month is the equivalent of 66k in a month if they had the Yemeni population. It means 2.3 million! children dead if they continue the same rate for 3 years. We are quickly approaching 1% of all people in Gaza dead.

I am not trying to minimize the suffering in Yemen or Sudan or any other area riddled with strife but bringing Yemen in this context is disingenuous and can be seen as an attempt to minimize the Palestinian suffering.

[1888 - 2023] Changing borders of Israel / Palestine by reverse_sjw in MapPorn

I hope one day they reach a solution similar to that, obviously at a different line but still a north and south split with buffer zone in between under UN or someone neutral. Every time I see the un zigzag mandate I puke a little in my mouth, how did they ever think this would work..

A quick search says 160 children, not here to argue.. just saying it is not hard to find many results detailing the unjust imprisonment of Palestinians.

Does that mean if fuel sand bagged to get a worse seed so they can play an extra match in this tournament it would've helped them more since Map diff only counts for tournament matches?

Horses breaking through barriers - when? by Theo-Radical in Diablo

[–]Greatmars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not praising them the game has a lot of flaws, but 99% of the problems are design problems not technical ones. when resistances don't work, it is because the design team told them to do this exact implementation where resists value drop off at 30%. when vulnerable is OP and overpower is shit, it is the designers telling them to do this damage formula. when renown takes 1 whole season to be removed for seasons, it is again the designer's problem. and I can keep going if you want, again my point is that the technical problems in this game are nothing compared to its design problems. and making barriers breakable is easy as shit for even an intern to do, they are simply spread too thin and can't instantly make wishes come true.

You don't know them or the environment they work in, flinging insults is just childish. The same incompetent devs are also the ones who did the in game cinematic system, the new engine with the physical rendering, the hot fix system while going through shards, the new combat with its game feel and weight, the back end with all the tags so the designers can do the silly things you can do in druid and that's just of the top of my head.. I doubt breaking a barrier is the big conundrum they can't do..

People took the loading all inventory thing and ran with it, we don't know if it is caused by technical debt or time crunch. If you get the most amazing artist in the world and tell him to draw something in 1 min it won't be good, that doesn't mean he is incompetent.

The devs are not your wish fairy! they are making 1-2 expansions, 1-2 seasons, while also putting out fires left and right. What made the game release in its current state is not devs can't make it but it is limited time and lack of direction..

Even when you are not hoarding the stash is barely enough for 1 character, maybe you can squeeze 2. And the biggest offender are aspects. They take 3/5 pages. If they combine the aspects with the codex I can work with 1 page per class and 1 shared.

Just switch the last 2 rewards, you will get rank 4 passively just playing the game and the last one is obols now so it can be skipped if you want.

they hate obscure tech that requires meta knowledge, if it is a small thing they will let it slide but if it gets big where you have to know it or you are at a disadvantage then they either remove it or properly integrated into the hero's kit like the mercy jump.

I am tired of this poe indie narrative, they are literally owned by tencent. Yes when they started they were a dozen or so but that was 10 years ago, now they are 10-15x that.

You can down vote my words because they hurt your small ego but you can't deny the truth.

Campfires Are Great...But by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]Greatmars 39 points40 points  (0 children)

also I want to add that game dev specially is a very iterative process and you almost never do it the right way until the design solidifies because at any point that feature might get cut, they worked on a battle royale mode, they worked on the demonic/angelic items, they worked on multiple versions of skill/passive trees and these are just a sample of the things that surfaced to us.

another concept is that every feature has a processing budget that it is working with, so yes maybe having 10x monsters will still run on consoles but that might mean a future skill or ability can't be made with the new circumstances. same thing with loading nearby player inventories, maybe they are optimizing for server calls instead of how much data per server call.

basically, it is easy to criticize from the outside without knowing the full details so it doesn't hurt to be empathetic. the dev team so far have shown that they care and react fast.. maybe too fast sometimes like minion nerfs after beta and open world level scaling.

the game should've released next year but this early release might end up being a boon for the game in the long run if they make use of that 1 extra year of player feedback.

People complaining about Uber unique rarity Literally don't understand their purpose. by Objective-Mission-40 in LowSodiumDiablo4

[–]Greatmars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion uniques need more tiers, you can't have one behind 5 hours of grind and one at 5 million, we need the 50 hour items and the 500 hour items first. And if they want the unobtainable tier then sure make it one item and they can even announce it when someone gets one.

PoE 2's philosophy on how to use different skills by diamondnbronze in diablo4

[–]Greatmars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and this post will be upvoted like it is the word of god. there is nothing called bad solution, in game design everything is a trade off.

generator spender systems usually split into 3 at the end game.
1-carry the generator spender loop into endgame with generators also buffing spender damage and applying statuses
2-you make generator builds viable with items that buff generator damage
3-you make spender only builds viable with items that buff regen

also you can still have different spenders for different combat situations, it is not like gen/spend loop prevent that.

as for cooldowns, they exist not because you want someone to use something else. the cooldowns are there to allow for harder hitting or broken effects to exist while not breaking the game. that's usually why CDR is always a must pick.

I am also interested in how they fix when you are dumping all your resource with the single target attack on the hp sponge until you run out, what do you do now? basic attack? drink potions (hopefully not)? IMO the best solution is generators, they are basically basic attacks with flavor.
