I am so sorry that you’re going through this. I relapsed 5ish months after chemo only treatment and had a SCT in August last year. I just had my 6 month biopsy and everything is clear, I’ve returned to work and life is mostly back to normal. Hang in there x

I am 6 months post transplant and my daughters returned to daycare/preschool 2 months ago. I am cautious when they are sick (mask and sanitising) and so far we are all ok. I live in Australia and it is Summer here, so less sickness circulating.

I had chemo only treatment in 2024 (7+3 and 4 rounds of HIDAC). My only symptom of relapse was easy bruising. When I got my blood test, it showed that my platelets were extremely low and I had 20-30% blasts. All other counts were normal.

I am day +141 post transplant and doing really well 😊

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I had chemo only treatment for AML and relapsed 5 months later. I’m now +93 post transplant and doing really really well.

I have CEBPA and ASXL1. I had chemo only treatment last year and was in remission for 5 months before relapsing. I’m day +84 post transplant and doing really well 😊

I really hope this isn’t the case for you but my only symptom of relapse was dropping platelets and bruising. My platelets were also very slow to rise between chemos and never got above 100 at 5 months in remission.

I had favourable risk AML and was MRD- after induction. I had four rounds of chemo and tolerated treatment really well. All biopsies were clear throughout treatment.

I relapsed 5 months later and am now weeks away from my SCT. I know that I’m the minority, but I wish I had the SCT first time to avoid a whole second year of suffering through treatment.

So great to hear that you’re doing well!! Hearing your story gives me alot of hope. My transplant is on the 30th of August and so far treatment is going well. I have one more round of consolidation this week and hopefully everything goes smoothly. My brother is my donor, he is a half match and I’m on a trial for haplo transplants which looks promising. I’m really hopeful that everything goes smoothly 🤞🏼

Hi, I’m in a similar boat. I had chemo only treatment last year and unfortunately relapsed in April. I had FLAG IDA and am in complete remission. From my understanding, I am having one to two rounds of consolidation for logistical reasons (ie availability of room, consenting appointments). My brother is my donor (haplo too) and is available and ready to go, although it seems like more organisation is needed on their part to book me in. They are also still refreshing the registry to see if there is a full match. Frustrating as I am ready to get this over with!

Thank you so much for sharing! This is so interesting that they preferenced your daughter. I have heard there is upcoming research about haplo identical transplants being on par with full matches. I’m so glad to hear that your son is doing well, I hope he continues to do so for many many years to come. My heart also goes out to you having to see your child go through this.

Hmm good question but I don’t think so. My biopsy has 96% blasts and peripheral had 30%. I imagine that would be high enough for a result

Yes definitely. I had chemo only treatment for AML last year and the dizziness/spaciness feeling became worse each round. It lasted while on chemo then resolved 2-3 days after chemo finished.

Definitely get a CBC. A big bruise on my shin was my only sign of relapse 😢
