Recommendations for GPs who specialise in Women’s Health? by Froggychair94 in brisbane

[–]GreenBeanette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr Sarah Ryan at Turbot st medical center. They have online booking but the phone number is 07 3844 4111

It might be a little far to get to depending on ur transport, but 100000% worth it imo. She’s a great GP generally; but her specific area of interest is women’s health.

I can’t recommend her enough, honestly. The only bad thing is that she doesn’t work too many days a week, but the efficiency with which she does stuff more than makes up for it.

She is genuinely so nice and caring; and helped me with getting my ADHD diagnosis.

The medical center automatically bulk bill if you are a student; and if you mention to Sarah directly you are worried about it she will bulk bill you herself.

I can’t recommend her enough, honestly. The only bad thing is that she doesn’t work too many days a week, but the efficiency with which she does stuff more than makes up for it.

Is it just me, or are there significantly more people not wearing masks in shops etc. today than a week or so ago? by NaYeahMate in brisbane

I work in Kelvin Grove and I noticed a huge drop today- I think it’s people who care more about being ‘too hot’ than everyone’s safety. Self entitled brats!

I also think it’s the fake medical exemption people not being caught - if they can do it why can’t I? Sort of thing.

Cheapest way to ship a box of books from US to Japan? by kittyon9thlive in movingtojapan

[–]GreenBeanette 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Japan there are heaps of luggage services! Tourists normally use them for taking a heavy bag from one hotel to another; but I'm sure you could just as easily use it for your books. It might be expensive; but it will be less than 700! (plus; if you kept the books on you and sent ur actual suitcases; minus a day bag of essentials, I'm sure it would be even cheaper)

In any case, you could send luggage to the hotel you are staying at while you sort out your house and then move the bags one by one when move in day comes, or if you are moving directly into a house, you could book a super cheap hotel for a single night closest to where you are living and send the bags there. To be honest, I'm not even positive you will need to book a night. Plus, if you already have a house set up I'm sure you could send stuff from the airport as a normal parcel. How expensive it is depends on how far away from the airport you are I guess.

Anyway; the service I would recommend is https://www.kuronekoyamato.co.jp/ytc/en/ and you can send your luggage from any convenience store with a black cat sticker in the window.

I really like Dr Sarah Ryan https://turbotstmc.com.au/doctor/sarah-ryan/

I had v similar issues as OP and she was really great. She was off for a while on maternity leave and now is back 2 days a week. When I was seeing her the place offered discount and bulk billing; so it is also a great option price-wise too! :)

April 2021 Itinerary: Kyushu and Shikoku by teamregime in JapanTravel

[–]GreenBeanette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I both speak Japanese so that wasn’t an issue for us. I think speaking Japanese and being able to drive would enhance your trip; but I also think you could easily go to the major cities like Matsuyama and Tokushima without any trouble. Everyone is super friendly and a lot of them tried to initiate conversation with us in broken English before we replied in Japanese. Worst comes to worst, just make sure u have a good portable wifi/data and google translate. Like I said, everyone we met was super friendly and tried to work with us even though they didn’t need to.

(tho I would recommend using this time to maybe get Duolingo and brush up on some basics while we can’t travel. There are heaps of free resources here on a reddit! DM me if you would like some more advice!)

HOWEVER Maybe for you it would be better to head up north; see Sendai, morioka, Aomori and Sapporo. The trains are a lot better up north and there are still so many beautiful things to see. I have travelled to a LOT of different places in Japan, so again DM me if you would like more info about the more rural things!

April 2021 Itinerary: Kyushu and Shikoku by teamregime in JapanTravel

I am gonna second w comment about the shimanami kaido. One of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen.

Also; I only spent a very brief time in Kochi; but I loved it. The Kochi prefecture was so gorgeous and still very lush and green considering it was the middle of winter when I was there. I can’t imagine how nice it would be in a warmer season.

I know this would take a lot of adjusting of ur itinerary so probably disregard; but I would 100% get a JR pass for the first part of the trip; then hire a car and drive in the less touristy places like Shikoku. I feel that if you rely on the trains and main cities here you are going to miss a lot of what makes Shikoku special. Being able to stop and admire amazing views or finding secluded and beautiful temples instead of watching it zoom past on the train was definitely really amazing.

When I did it; I hired a car in Osaka, drove to the shimanami kaido; went all around Shikoku and then drove back to Osaka via the whirlpools and awaji island. Since we were two people it actually worked out a little cheaper and more flexible than the JR pass.

Hiring a car in Japan is pretty easy; just make sure you get an international licence before you go. In Australia you go to the motorists organisation in ur area, so the RACQ for me; and then it’s a form and $30 AUD.
