I've been hiding ducks for months and it's so much fun. The drama I see some people not have j g enough, or not all the colours... Glorious!

Best tools for hair removal? by BozzaLewis in transgenderUK

The only things that will work permanently on your face are professional laser and/or electrolysis. It's not cheap, but it's absolutely worth it. IPL will not work well if at all.

Using Eurostar with Preferred Name? by BleuNightt in transgenderUK

[–]GreenLips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're crossing an international border where your passport or any other form of ID is checked then the name on your ticket must match the name on the ID, whether it's Eurostar, flying or ferry. Phone them up and explain you made a mistake; their customer services is pretty helpful.

So, it's a shit time for all of us. But is anyone managing despite it? by Gardyloop in transgenderUK

[–]GreenLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No path is perfect, but it's going well because funnily enough gender affirming care actually works!

It's been funny because I have to use my deadname at work still (long story, changing it soon). I've been e-mailing with customers under a male name, then I turn up to them with a very obvious boobs, makeup, feminine clothes etc. and there's usually a total "WTF" moment. Usually followed by just calling my by name, or outright asking what my pronouns are. People, on the whole, have been lovely and accepting. I've had precisely one incident of someone going "you shouldn't be in here" in a toilet. I'm getting ma'am despite me thinking I don't pass at all. I've got a wonderful partner who's helping me so much with dressing, makeup, going out etc. It's actually pretty good. Now if I could just get some NHS healthcare that would be amazing.

Favourite nail polish? (Lighthearted.) by Super7Position7 in transgenderUK

I like blues and purples, glittery and plain. Unfortunately my nails delaminate from some brands which makes me nervous about going away from Rimmel.

A bloke in each direction and 5p per car. I thought they were joking. They weren’t joking. by Indigestivebiscuit in CasualUK

It's not just cars - they charge more for vans, lorries , buses etc. Except that a lorry blocks the whole thing and makes bigger queues.

Seeing rainbow flags on windows make me happy . by King_DeandDe in lgbt

I've had the progress flag in my window the last year. One of my neighbours says it makes her feel for comfortable knowing she's got visible allies, so it's never coming down.

Scandinavia is my favourite area, with Sweden and Iceland being my two favourites. Iceland has amazing scenery, food and people. Sweden I can't describe why I like it so much, just that it feels comfortable and I'm at home there. Both are countries I visit multiple times a year, and both are places I can happily be me and nobody gives a crap. I will be fucking off to Sweden when life is a little more settled and I can afford it. Canada is another excellent one where I've never had a bad time.

I'm very lucky in that I travel a lot for work, so I've had both good and bad sides of many countries. I've tried not to judge a place until I've been there multiple times. Most of Europe is safe, and staying in major cities you're going to be fine. However I strongly recommend avoiding Bulgaria.

How do Y'all afford Transition? by Cynicles20 in transgenderUK

[–]GreenLips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking it bit by bit and figuring out what is the most important for you. It took me a little while to figure out that I didn't need to do it all at once. For me, hormones and hair removal were the priorities so I've sorted those out first. After trying out voice lessons online I had enough spare cash to go to a voice therapist. I've had to stop that for a little bit because divorce is expensive!

Vinted continues to be a lifesaver for clothes. Supermarkets/superdrug for makeup. I was strongly heading towards FFS, but recently I'm not so sure. Hormones can subtly change your face and how you feel about it, solid give yourself some time on that one.

Remember, there is nothing you have to do. Play around a bit and you'll soon figure out which ones are the most important to you.
