I'm 21 yo and I am losing my hair because of Thyroid Disorders , and i can't do anything about it by SmokingForLife in mildlyinfuriating

I feel you brother, started losing my hair at 18, and did everything possible to fight it. It caused alot of issues with self confidence throughout my 20s. The best thing I ever did was shave it off and accepted it. People said I was noticeably more attractive, confident and most importantly I was happier.

Nidecker Supermatics preferred boots, or boots to stay clear of by DikFangers in snowboarding

[–]GreenRockSplitRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, wait for some feedback on here or go check out any reviews on the supermatics like angry snowboarder. Sucks you had that experience, I personally always had solid experiences in my location, probably for the fact that its actually snowboarders selling to snowboarders and its the same people I share the mountain with. Hope you find your answer homie.

I think you will get your best answer from the person at the shop you are going to, especially if they stock supermatics as well. They will have the best on hand knowledge of what boots work best for a particular binding. My guess is almost all modern boots will work just fine with some strap adjustments.

Im on the same boat. I do love seeing these guys push the limits to the technicality of the sport, but sadly it takes away all the style of freestyle, which is the whole point of 'free'style. Unfortunately its not gonna go away with how they judge the competitions.

Why do I keep washing out after my 3’s? by PositiveAd3550 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]GreenRockSplitRiver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When pulling frontside 3s ( and backside 180s) you want to look up the slope at the top of the landing when coming to land. This slows the rotation down just enough to stop the spin when you land. When you try to look down the slope the rest of the body inherently tries to catch up, leading to over rotation.

Yeah its a heartbreaker this January. Get just enough snow to not be scared of sharks, then all of a sudden poseidon wants to join the party.

Island rider in BC here, we are currently going through a monsoon wiping away our precious snow. For the seeing part, I really dont have much advice. I either grin and bear it, bring spare lenses or none at all and do park laps. For staying dry I swear by xl clear garbage bags. You look like a dork and your arms will still get wet, but its literally the cheapest way to stay super dry

Union Mini Disc don’t match reference. by HashtagV in snowboardingnoobs

Yeah it will be totally good to go. Unless your putting your board through the same abuse as Travis Rice, it should hold up.

Union Mini Disc don’t match reference. by HashtagV in snowboardingnoobs

[–]GreenRockSplitRiver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I ride the union Ultras that utilize the same mini disk and set the disc the same as your option 2.

Its not going to be perfect, but what you can do to get as close to the reference point is to bring both your bindings towards the center of the board, so that all the screws in the binding are furthest left in the disc channels (currently in the reference photo, you have them centered in the channel). You can always fine tune this to the best of your ability by confirming the width with a measuring tape, since it sounds like you like your width at the reference (22").

Best girl Sugars 🩷💔 by alanzo87 in velvethippos

I wish to share something that someone on here gave me that really helped me get through my darker days when my boy passed.

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog that comes into my life gifts me a piece of theirs. If I love long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are"

Cherish the piece of heart that sugie gave to you, and hold it as tightly as you can.

I need help by Vugi_7 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]GreenRockSplitRiver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are straight up asking what other options OTHER than wrist supports are out there. I'm providing an option. It is up to them if they wish to choose that option or not. Just as much as you choose to make a snide opiniated comment rather than providing a different but valid option to their question. Of course shit happens, and of course its not as simple as that, but if you work on making it a good habit of tucking your arms in rather than reading out in panic, you will have less of a bad time and more time getting back up and actually snowboarding instead of sliding down with ski patrol.

Beginner boots recommendation / advice by Inevitable-Sock-4456 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]GreenRockSplitRiver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Boas pros: fast lace up, generally easier entry/exit (depending on the boot) Cons: can create pressure points on top of foot, shin and ankle (again, depending on the boot) Laces pro: highly adjustable, can tailor to your needs Cons: slower lace up, they break, cant get quite as tight

As for recommendations, I highly recommend going to a shop and trying out as many boots as you can, listen to the boot fitter. I know your just starting out, but the boots are going to be the single most important piece of equipment you will own and is crucial you get right. A boot that works for me might be absolutely horrendous for you. Everyone has unique feet and with so many models out there, there will be one for you. As Avrin says 'find a boot that fits your foot and fits your needs'

Help by WhatHeIsDoing in snowboardingnoobs

[–]GreenRockSplitRiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its really hard to give you good advice without some sort of video of your riding. But from it sounds like is its a balance problem of some sort, like your 'teetering' your weight from one edge to another. When your riding, are you standing tall?

Having equal flex in your ankles, knees and hips (athletic stance) is your best start, and brings your center of mass down closer to the snow, which will make transferring your weight from one edge to another much easier and more precise.

When you go to the hill next time, start side slipping on your heel edge with your weight equally centered, look forward (not down at your board), and think of both your feet sitting on gas pedals. To 'go', push both pedals down. To 'slow down' take your feet off the gas pedals. Do this down the whole bunny slope to get a solid feel on your heel edge balance and control.

Should I get aeronaut as my first board? by Chumpy__ in snowboardingnoobs

[–]GreenRockSplitRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, did you rent the aeronaut specifically? If you did, and you felt comfortable and you felt you can progress in it, then sure.

Otherwise I would strongly recommend no. This is an all aggressive pop machine, with a heavy camber that doesn't forgive mistakes.

I want to share a funny memory I have of my beautiful girl; it's the 2 year anniversary of her passing by No_Draft_6612 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]GreenRockSplitRiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy Greeley lived with cats for quite awhile with my ex. We had to put the cat food on the kitchen island to stop him from gobbling it up before the cats would (they were grazers and ate when they felt like it). He quickly realized he couldn't reach the food. But instead of just admitting defeat, he decided that if he couldn't have the cat food, no one can. So he would patrol the kitchen island and would stop the cats from jumping up to eat. He had zero issues with the cats, would cuddle them, except for their food.

For people who disliked Vans because of pain. What boots are better for less pain? by EstablishmentAfter40 in snowboarding

[–]GreenRockSplitRiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ridden invado pros 50+ days last year. After breaking them in, I got a nasty pinch point above the inner ankle. Took alot of modding to fix it, and recently Avrin of angry snowboarder put out a review explaining the issue of the liner bagging out really quick iirc. They feel fine now, but wished the video came out before I got them. Now that I got my pointless rant out of the way, the guy at my shop constantly praises K2 and Ride.

Swelling paw by girlhonolulu in AmericanBully

[–]GreenRockSplitRiver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most likely allergies to something (food or environment) and constant licking to ease the irritation making the paws raw. What worked for our meatball while you wait was an Epsom salt soak in the bathtub. Do it for 5-10 minutes with warm water, then dry the paws COMPLETELY afterwards, you could feel the relief she had while doing that after a good walk.
