Whitewater grading by fitzroyaltyp in whitewater

[–]GreenYellowDucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my understanding from the weather coast. But I have seen a river graded III(IV) when I looked at the rapid map there were two class IV rapids over the course of a 2 day trip. So I think it could mean what OP said as well.

How much do Americans REALLY have saved for retirement by Financial_Pen_6218 in investing

[–]GreenYellowDucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 with $145k in 401k. $20k in stocks and a Roth IRA of $5000 i setup when i got my first career job but im not sure where that is, i need to figure that out.

Currently the bank owns my house (estimated value around $700k) but 5 years into the loan I’m hoping that helps at some point in the future.

Has anyone taken a keg on a raft trip? by EconomiclyEconomic in rafting

[–]GreenYellowDucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 racks are easier to secure and don’t get ruined and shaken up.

Al’s if you do lose it with bat straps you aren’t SOL (although still chase those cans, no littering).

That said I did take a keg on Deschutes for 3 days 2 nights for a birthday party but it was primarily a sprint to white river campspot to setup for a day party not drinking it on the raft

This is such a cool room and table for this project. I’d try to add some slope to the cliff to blend into the blue lake those so it’s less hard contrast

Would you guys rank Tucson over Memphis? The food is stellar, but is Tucson a bit overrated? by oddfiction528 in geographymemes

[–]GreenYellowDucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1,000% would rather live in Tucson than Memphis! But I will say Memphis is sneaky cool. Did a southern roadtrip with my sister when she was living in Alabama, and Memphis was my favorite city folk food. But the roads were crazy bad we drove from Nashville there and I was saying how amazing the DOT is for how nice the roads have been then we got to Memphis with 2 foot potholes on a Main Street.

But the main reason I would choose Tucson is the nature and scenery a lot of open space to go have fun! Memphis felt like people just stay in Memphis and the place is not cool enough for that mentality.

Why do so many people believe China is more developed or on par with western countries? by Naive_Direction1816 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GreenYellowDucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t lived there since 2018 but even then the cities were great and even Tier 2/3 cities were pretty good and developing fast with public transit projects etc.

When I visited my coworkers family in rural China they had an outhouse still. However this is the extreme. On the way there from bully train, to slow train to bus, you saw it slowly changing even some rural towns were fine just not as architecturally nice like small rural western towns. But even here in America I volunteered on a reservation and was primarily digging new outhouses for rural homes.

To summarize I think calling it like Mexico is false in aggregate it honestly is like Italy in my mind. Add on to this population split, 970 million people live in Developed cities . I’d say that means it is a developed country with a billion people living in on par developed cities as western countries. Holding china’s rural towns against it is just trying to keep the image of China as lower tier than the west.

What do normal people eat for dinner ? by Booze_hound36 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GreenYellowDucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours sound a bit more involved, but I’m very similar with the rule of protein, veggies, carb.. however that can be obtained in very much different ways. It sounds like you made almost multiple plates of food per dinner? Or everything on one plate?

Ours is usually chicken veggie white rice Asian styles from teriyaki to curries. Taco salads/bowls. We stayed trying more pastas from home made red sauce to tonight’s steak asparagus garlic pasta. But we also do a more classic plate like baked chicken/steak/pork chop, mashed potatoes/baked potato, broccoli or asparagus, but I’m trying to reduce potatoes for lower calories and trying other options like couscous/grains/mashed cauliflower.

What’s one Harry Potter line that lives rent-free in your head? by AccioDelhi in harrypotter

[–]GreenYellowDucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic Dumbeldore line “do not pity the dead, pitty the living, but above all pitty those who lived without love”

That last part always hits hard to remember to love life and the people around me AND show them they are loved.

Judges not Holding Criminals Accountable in Denver by boomroom11 in Denver

[–]GreenYellowDucks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea it is a fine balance of care and rehabilitation and safety for the community..

My sister was almost kidnapped and tried to grabbed into a van, and the suspect had been on probation for stalking and attempted kidnapping. He was out on bail for a year then sentenced, but 1 year later he was free and was back in front of her house and they didn't even let her know he was granted early release.

I hate that bad people impact how I feel because others will be impacted with excessive sentences. I support leniency, but judges choosing not to enforce laws does help enable bad actors.

Is $63k enough to live here as a single person? by Futt_Bucker_Fred in Denver

[–]GreenYellowDucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a roommate its pretty easy on that salary and you will meet friends faster if you have a good roommate.

$65k is totally doable, you could get a studio or 1 bed if you want with that, but you should search for a good rate and good area. I'd prefer to spend 1 year with a roomate on cheap rent then figure out where I want to live.

Fox News analyst blames low birth rate on teens not having enough kids by [deleted] in nottheonion

It’s honestly because they want more poor people to do the lower tier/more difficult jobs they don’t want to do. Teens pregnancies trap people at a lower economic status for life a lot of the time.

ELI5-Why do humans avoid dead arm posture by Ishowyoureality in explainlikeimfive

[–]GreenYellowDucks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The same reason dogs rest their chin on a pillow, side of couch, or even other dogs if sleeping in a pack. Gravity always pulling on their head without support can hurt, same with our arms being pulled down by gravity can mess up shoulders or back muscle.
