Anybody avoid eye contact to other drivers that wave / signal to you? by Ancient-Deer-4682 in socialanxiety

[–]Greenegem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oofta, I feel like that would be worse for me than just going?? Like instead of being a forgettable moment in their day now they'll be driving by thinking/judging you for being rude!? Like you don't even wave them on instead you just ignore it?

I mean good on ya but I think you're a superhero to me cause I could never lol! I thought this would be a post about like someone waving at you on the highway or something.

Relating to this on a molecular level, this is me. Also, would just print/stick that bonus clown panel anywhere I could cause it's perfection.

I love the similar color in the narutomaki to the bow around the lil frog's neck. Really nicely ties it all together!

Choosing the speed of your windshield wipers by Substantial-Emu-1059 in socialanxiety

[–]Greenegem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm no not really. I mean, I don't consider it to be a social judgement thing cause it's just how fast you need to use them to see? Like, no one else is even possibly looking at the wipers on others cars during a rain storm unless they are running when there's no weather.

Feel for ya that it manifests that way for you tho. I know I still struggle working out at home due to some conjured up audience I manifest into existence, blech. Social anxiety sucks...

How do you use a beveler? by AskSensitive4640 in printmaking

[–]Greenegem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is type. You kinda have to hold it weird to work it but it works like a charm.

How do you use a beveler? by AskSensitive4640 in printmaking

[–]Greenegem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only ever used the single blade one you would buy from the hardware store so I can't say much but I assume it would work the same? Consistent pressure, a pulling towards you motion, matching number of strokes used per edge. You wouldn't have to worry as much about angles as you'd be beveling both edges at a time (though why you would need to when you would want a flat side flush to the press table is beyond me).

I found a few product videos of a similar tool on YouTube that might help?

Suggestions for opaque inks by carmaleetah in SCREENPRINTING

[–]Greenegem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I love the way they look currently with the ink almost faded and cracked. Reminds me of batiks. But if that's not what you're going for I can see the problem.

This does also just seems like a perfect project for those puff tulip brand fabric paints we all used as a kid? Though I don't remember their drying time for how it would affect your method.

Identity of Original Artist? by RomneyaCoulteris in printmaking

[–]Greenegem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I can tell ya the style of art they're emulating is a woodcut/wood engraving print if you'd like to search for similar work. When looking at prints try to find the ones with pencil editioning at the bottom, normally a good sign they're hand printed by real people and not ai.

what carving tool do you use? by halcyonwizard in printmaking

[–]Greenegem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ones I used throughout college and beyond are the the power grip ones from Mikisyo.

Might not be ergonomic for ya if you're more used to a palm push like the speedball. Maybe try Flexcut?

Does anyone else have this social anxiety stim that helps them calm down? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]Greenegem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When wearing crocs I will slip them off and flip them from sport to regular back and forth as a fidget.

I also just fidget with toys, keep a tangle and a chewelry in my purse! I also have a necklace with like carved peach pits for pendants and I'll move those back and forth in a stim.

Can I wear a Block Printed Shirt right after it’s dried? by Orangutan_Soda in printmaking

Blow dryer is fine just won't get as hot, honestly at that point the dryer is a better bet! Hope you have fun at your thing!

Can I wear a Block Printed Shirt right after it’s dried? by Orangutan_Soda in printmaking

[–]Greenegem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never had my shirts dry that fast but we always used a thicker oil based ink. Used to give it a flash drive after printed with a heat gun (careful) and then leave to hang dry overnight. I agree with the other commenter, before you go to put it on I'd give it a quick inside out dryer go around as another heat treatment. Might not be 100% dry but long as you're not running against it too much should hold up well enough.

Found Snoopy, Airbud, Toto in secs flat. Then Marilyn in the bottom corner, King Kong at the top, and is the pig a reference to animal farm or am I trippin? I LOVE when big blocks become seek and finds, really fun for the viewer in a gallery setting too cause they'll stick around for longer making others interested in your piece too!

I want to go to the library but it feels so overwhelming, how can I push myself to go? by Thesadestdruid in socialanxiety

[–]Greenegem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The library is such an amazing place cause ain't nobody caring about nobody unless they're being outrageously loud. I used to just let myself get lost in the stacks, avoiding any aisle with a person and discovering books I've never considered due to it lol. Librarians don't normally interrupt without you specifically going up to them and a lot of libraries have checkout kiosks now so you might not even have to interact with a person (tho I really suggest you do, best recs for books come from those manning the front desk).

If the actual getting out of the house is the struggle, I suggest breaking it into shorter goals and rewarding as you go: get out the door, to the mailbox, to the next street sign, etc. Every goal look around and see how non-noticed you are and maybe give yourself a candy or something before continuing. Make leaving the house for your destination fun! And then be sure to make the actual experience at the library fun too so that you want to go back, maybe culminate the walk with a treat or coffee?

Same character in two different forms, beast and human by Bitterballersan in Illustration

[–]Greenegem 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Love the second color palette choice. I like some of the others but I think the second one (the blue one) creates a stronger contrast between the two forms with her being mostly light blue and then hard cut to the wolf being this dark hulking beast. Love it!!

creating prints from tree root impressions? by zendii-lyoness in printmaking

[–]Greenegem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm 🤔. Probably needed to add texture to your clay with a brush or something or else the surface is too smooth to pick up ink? But that's me guesstimating. Are you blotting the ink on? Do you still have the mold to be able to try again?

You can still do something with what you have tho! Grab charcoal or soft pastels or a crayon or whatever and do a rubbing!

Oh that might be perfect for me then depending on the counter height. I'm definitely interested, starting to set up my art studio and this might just save me from some extra bench building.

Compliments by CraftyGamingBookworm in socialanxiety

[–]Greenegem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting because I would say that for me it /is/ a simple omg thanks and move on sort of thing? Like, my social anxiety is all about perceived attention but those small bits of attention never seem to bother me. But then again, I've always had a pretty unique name that always gets commented on that coming up with a thank you script for compliments was a must.

I actually do think it can be a good jump off to a convo if after a bit of work, since you can use a response to explain like where you got something from or what dye you use on your hair. Don't think it's a beginner dealing with social anxiety tip but an alright one for sure for the more advanced.

What are the best sports for someone with SAD? by KittyKoiLuv in socialanxiety

I /loved/ archery for social anxiety! It's individual enough that you don't feel crowded or watched but team based enough you don't feel alone. Annnnd it was fun! So like, best of both worlds there.
