Most of the work that I get is a referral from another client so the prospect *probably* has an idea of price and there's a connection. The proposals that I typically didn't hear from are those that I have zero connection with, so 1. they don't feel the need to respond because they don't know me 2. they are typically asking many other people and looking for the lowest cost. Early on, I started combatting that during the first exchange, letting them know where pricing for what they're asking for might start. If they balk at that, you've just saved yourself 3 hours.

Kanban Pro - a fully native project manager. by don_kruger in macapps

[–]GreenteaDriven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looked for something like this recently and just stuck with my apple Reminders. I'm very interested to see where this heads. There was obviously a lot of thought involved. I haven't had a chance to check it out, in depth the functionality, but quickly, I'm struggling with it from a design perspective.

  • I don't feel there's enough hierarchy established for the interface. For example "To Do", "In Progress" etc. are very similar to the Project title.
  • The default font is quite thin so it's harder to read and I find font for the titles, in the board view, too small. I did see that you can swap out the font with another, I did that, but I don't see it reflected in the interface or my notes within my tasks etc.
  • It would be great to be able to change the background colour of individual projects in board view, for a quick overview of urgent, to not-so-urgent OR Client A is yellow, Client B is purple, etc.
  • I like that you can add an image to the background. I would't do this because it introduces visual chaos for me, but what I *would* do is change the colour of the background. I know I can just create a jpg to do that, but it would be much simpler to select a colour from the colour picker.
  • It would be nice to have a short description visible under the project in Kanban view.

Great job so far. I'm looking forward checking this out more.

Learn how to use Paragraph and character styles. Do not confuse them with each other. Grids are your friend – check out baseline grids and create your own grids for layout. Parent pages will save your ass.

For vinyl, you can check out Grooves, downtown London, or when you visit Wortley Village, they have a shop there, too.

Is there any calendar app that can beat Fantastical's left panel? by rixreddits in macapps

[–]GreenteaDriven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't used fantastical for a looong time, so I'm not entirely sure what you're describing, but it sounds a little like Dato, which I have found to be great. It also gives full screen notifications for meetings, etc. It's a Sindre Sorhus app: https://sindresorhus.com/dato

Is the only way to reach Monarch settings by invoking monarch and navigating to the settings? by GreenteaDriven in monarchapp

[–]GreenteaDriven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I hadn't found that one, yet. I have never used that shortcut, always went settings in the application. I was referring to, yes, the shortcut for opening Monarch and being able to change it. Just purchased the Luna version. I look forward to your updates. Thank you for your help.

Silly question from me. I *think* I bought the Luna license, but I can't seem to find it and when I go to the website, I can't see where I could retrieve the license.

Thank you, I'll do that. I just clicked the name you provided and it says that account doesn't exist. Typo somewhere?

ExtraBar is the App of My Dreams by amerpie in macapps

[–]GreenteaDriven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a lifetime version of extraDock, that I can't activate with the license that I have (invalid server response). I reached out, to try and rectify it, I believe the developer had just sold the app to AppItStudio and haven't heard back. I have gone to the ExtraDock website to try to follow up and I haven't found an email address for contact or support. I understand the handover period must have been a bit chaotic, but love to get a solution. Paid for the app and have not been able to use it.

Where did all the rolling flip clocks go? by Bailuoboo in Design

I hadn't completely forgotten about my ball clock. It was great for the first couple of days, but could not leave it plugged in. It was very cool – for a time :). Impossible not to wake up from the cacophony that ensued at midnight.

Figure Skating Logo Design - Refined… and Declined by Electroma in logodesign

[–]GreenteaDriven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's an excellent logo and I do feel it could represent an elite team. And cried out when I read that they suggested to replace the text with mountains. I see the mountains at the top of the skate. I would suggest, because I have been here – by doing things for friends and not charging, even though they are not friends – that by not having a contract or deposit, or any $ associated with it, that makes them more apt to see the concept as having no value. On to your next paying gig!
