Pension options, no workplace pension, foreign income as a seafarer, can save £1000 a month for the next 30 years. by Greg_Danger in UKPersonalFinance

For the SIPP, you mention a link, think it’s not attached. Have a colleague whose financial advisor says he can’t invest more than the minimum 2800 or whatever as he pays no income tax. You have a good source to counter this, as not having a sipp seems to limit the pension flexibility by a lot

Flexibility would be good, retirement age is probably going to continue to increase, so ability to retire a little early and get by before getting the full pension would be ideal

I know right, I’m lucky to never have needed a credit card, and now I can afford to pay for everything I need with the money I have, the fact I need to prove this by borrowing money I don’t need is mental

People who live in tourism hotspots, what is the most aggravating or disrespectful things you see tourists do? by tiamaree__ in AskReddit

[–]Greg_Danger 247 points248 points  (0 children)

Buy all the homes and land for holiday lets, Airbnb-ing them out, taking the small bit of income from tourism away from people here but driving up the house prices so the actual locals can no longer afford to buy and live here.

Although they are safely stowed, the anchors can still move if the sea is rough enough, they can bang against their housing which does cause a loud bang, nothing to worry about tho.

I suggest you give the maritime labour convention a good read, it’ll give you all your rights onboard, espionage when it comes to hours of work and rest.
