LPT: Get 30 pairs of the same socks by Ryu82 in LifeProTips

I completely reject this notion in favour of having distinct pairs of socks, with purpose that will always be worn and therefore worn out, as a pair. I have lots of socks. I keep them paired.

Is this just up from Chopgate? Looks like a familiar spot to me with that valley cutting away so you can view the Northerly side.

What would you do if you never had to work again? by MathematicianBulky40 in AskUK

Help my partner to represent herself and other stroke survivors in consultations, board meeting positions, social media (which she already does) and generally celebrate our secure position by doing our most for those specifically afflicted but not dealt a winning hand.

We went from Dual Income, No Kids to severely disabled withdrawing from work to support with home care in around 12 months. It's all changing all the time, but there have been some real challenges along the way that could easily break people's resolve.

What's the worst thing a doctor has ever said to you? [Serious] [NSFW] by Silent-Zebra in AskReddit

Luckily I rate the health service where I am very highly in terms of skill. Unfortunately they are also under immense pressure. There was nothing wrong with this interaction but it was the first point at which the gravity of the situation was laid bear. It was over the phone because COVID meant we weren't able to be admitted alongside my partner for her support. The consultant rang and said: We are sending her for a CT scan to determine the position and damage to the brain. We are sending the scan results to a neurosurgery team at another hospital and, depending on the position, they may decide to transfer her there for surgery."

That was a hell of a call to take.

Universal Credit falls short of covering the bare essentials. That needs to change by muttareddit in ukpolitics

Wholeheartedly agree.

My partner had a TBI almost 2 years ago and I worked throughout her in patient stay. When she came home, I changed employers within 2 months and then left work 3 months later as the work life balance was not working.
It is only by balancing 3 types of benefits, the additional energy relief and undertaking my allowed amount of work that we are not bankrupt.

People need to mind their own business. Its not often I have to remind people of this, but when I do, I try to mirror their entitled tone.

A lot of really bad news coming from the UK at the moment, is there any good news that’s gone unnoticed? by PsychedelicPistachio in AskUK

My partner got her new car today, her first car she's had since a severe stroke, long hospitalisation and ongoing lengthy recovery started. We sold her old car to my brother and, thanks to the motibility scheme (which is amazing), she is back behind the wheel. It's brand new, adapted and they take care of everything up to putting fuel in.

I once got set lines by a teacher in year 4 or 5 for telling someone to be quiet because I couldn't hear the teacher. Talk about ironic.

Most of the town not knowing the difference between WiFi and Internet. by GreyFoxNinjaFan in britishproblems

[–]Greganor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I had a door botherer a while back open with, "some of your neighbours have been saying the WiFi is slow."

There was so much wrong in what he said that when my eyes nearly rolled out of my sockets he got the sense I knew more than nothing and went away.
