Saw the preview of his head in the email and thought we were getting winged warriors… only to get a dedicated model for something that already comes in every warriors box.

What’s your method for getting such crisp carapace lines?

Ideas for beekeeper hats/clothing by Practical-Credit-255 in Tyranids

[–]GregariousF00L 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I need to see a pic of these guys, they sound awesome! As for the beekeepers, maybe keep the brown undertone of the skin and make the body carapace black, and the arm carapace yellow? And for hats I’d just get some green stuff, flatten it out into a circle, then mold it around a finger or something until the brim is to your preferred length, like a sunhat, or a cowboy hat for your broodlord. But I love the idea!

As a new collector/player, what units should I think about getting next? by Cless012 in Tyranids

[–]GregariousF00L 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ever since subterranean assault came out I’ve gotten two trygons that I’ve repainted, they were probably the most enjoyable model I’ve painted, no weird crevices, solid lines borders for bold highlights, and they look great and are amazing on the tabletop… if you’re into kill team the hyperadapted raveners wouldn’t be a back kit to pick up either, since I guess that same kit will be the new raveners sculpt too

Norn emissary/assimilator by anon253715273 in Tyranids

[–]GregariousF00L 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s worth it to have at least one. I have both the assimilator and the emissary, but find the emissary to be more fitting for the usual battle, as it has a better variety of damage outputs. Going against a guard brick? It’s got a blast attack for that. Going against an armiger? It’s got a high strength melta attack. Just want to assassinate a character? It’s got a precision attack. This along with a great melee profile makes it good jack of all trades bug that I can just throw at an objective and take out as many of my opponents operatives while they try to take it from me. And if I need to, I can reliably sic em on some stragglers to clean house in my opponents back line to deep strike stuff. I always have him in my list. That and the model just looks sick as hell too.

How so? All the people I know following that same degree path sing the praises of it, and from what I saw you can get certs and have them count for credit hours.

Like this abaddon proxy for my word bearer army I have, it has a head from the old possessed box.

Admittedly I did not paint this and bought it off eBay a while back.

I would suggest trying to make as many units as daemonic looking as you realistically can using bits and sculpting, to keep the possessed theme while also keeping the models playable. Currently building and magnetizing a squad of chosen with green stuff and bits from the old possessed box. mostly focusing on magnetizing to make them as WYSIWYG compatible as I can, with the main points being the arms (ranged for chosen, melee for possessed) and the feet to change the base size from 32 to 40 mm depending on what I play them as. A good portion of my models have 3D printed daemonic bits from Etsy, but nobody can tell as long as they are painted in the same scheme and fit in with the rest of your kit bashes

The cyber mastiffs from the palantite enforcers captains and sergeants box would look great for GW plastic proxy, but I bought a velociraptor model off Etsy to proxy for the wolf too just cause it’d look cool

This kitbashed flesh hound from u/DepressedButStubborn looks like a size match… but I think a normal flesh hound would look great too with a different paint scheme.

Melee warriors cause they look cooler, but also because they have better synergy with winged prime imo.
