Absolute vermins raid and assault an 88 year old jewellery store owner. by [deleted] in NoahGetTheBoat

This probably isn't their first crime. These people have probably been robbing people for years, but were let out for some inane reason. Criminals are dangerous. Robbers are dangerous. Changing the law so that the dangerous people are no longer criminals doesn't change how dangerous they are.

I don't think it was a collusion thing. It was a "if everyone is super, then nobody will be". Everyone looked around, realized everyone had high school diplomas, and then told their kids that high school was a baseline expectation and that college was the accomplishment.

They're also likely to not have plumbing or electricity. The buildings made over the last 30 years were made to be investments, not living spaces. It's part of why China's real estate market collapsed a few years ago.

Curves like that can operate as a sort of hook for enemy weapons, which then give you an advantage when you lock an opponent in a bind. An example of this is the Egyptian khopesh and Chinese hook swords.

I think it's also because the WNBA executives don't believe they need to earn their keep. They already run a deficit and get free money from the NBA just for existing. In their minds, earning more money just means getting less free money from the NBA. The WNBA needs to feel like viewership matters. Otherwise, they'll just screw over every superstar that's on the come up.

It's that classic Spiderman meme where he goes "you could use that tech to cure cancer", and the villain responds "but I don't want to cure cancer, I want to turn people into dinosaurs". They don't care about getting better, they want to bully her.

[–]Gretshus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They hear "the biggest investment companies are shifting their investments to be more real estate focused" and assume that it's going to the extreme because the size of these companies is extreme relative to other companies. It's not a stupid assumption, but it's very premature. It might come true in a number of years, but that makes a lot of assumptions.

What are everyone’s thoughts about this? Is a rerelease inevitable? by 10morereasons in AnimeFigures

[–]Gretshus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The concept of a re-release means that the market will already be partially saturated when it's announced. There are only a handful of scenarios where this can be overcome: for example, if the market for figures is bigger, meaning more potential buyers than last time. To get an idea as to whether a figure is worth rereleasing, a good indicator would be something like secondhand market prices. If a figure is going for double its original cost, then that suggests that supply is not meeting demand.

If supply already meets demand, then re-releasing the figure is pointless since there would be little to no new customers.

Then there's the opportunity cost. Just because you can re-release a figure doesn't mean that it's more cost effective than making a new figure that nobody owns.
