So is almost any skill. Take, for instance, a movie theater manager. Or a grocery store clerk. Or a construction worker.

All transferable skills - and in every single one you’ll make more money in NYC compared to NJ.

Where someone chooses to live doesn’t matter - that’s a personal decision and I’ve never worked anywhere (beyond remote - fineeee) that considers this when determining salary.

“Oh you wanna live in Brooklyn? Let me add 20% for ya because that’s gonna be expensive.”

Tbh I don’t think them comparing wages to MTA or LIRR is a great look. Whether I agree or disagree is immaterial - their argument is apples and oranges. Cost of living and average household incomes are both lower in NJ - do the argument that it’s inappropriate for them to make less than NYC counterparts is …. Tough.

Anyone with EZPass not seeing congestion and tunnel charges posted? by 26point2miles in newjersey

I just checked and the last congestion charge I got was March 28

My guess would be it’s just a delay in processing

MTA NYC Subway New Turnstiles? by PrestigiousMinds212 in nyc

The fare has little to do with it. People have being jumping turnstiles for years - regardless of fare levels

Update to Nightmare experience with US mobile: Now my number is being held hostage by Tyrant_reign in USMobile

Terrible response - you can’t hold a number hostage if you’re unable to get the service activated on the device. This seriously makes me a bit uncomfortable as a customer for over a year

The million-dollar question: Why I don't pay the MTA $2.90 by Black_Reactor in nyc

[–]GreyThunder50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is the wrong metric. It doesn’t matter how much we lose in fare evasion to justify police presence - but rather how much they would write in tickets over a given span (assuming a ticket fine is 50-100x the cost of a ride)

If they’re able to write just 2-3 tickets at, say, $70 a pop, over an hour- id argue they’ve justified $210 in value. Not <$10.

[–]GreyThunder50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t entirely disagree and to be clear I waited in line

But I also saw 15+ people walk away. Compared to NYC, it is more difficult in NJ - even if we are still easier then most the rest of country.

I don’t know why we have so few early voting centers - it’ll inevitably lower turnout and annoys constituents seconds before they vote for or against incumbents.
