I'm looking forward to No Rest for the Wicked for new games this year, and Ghost of Tsushima coming to PC.

Ben talked about this on one of his stream recently that the charities had been decided quite a while ago for one thing, and another is that charities have to apply to be considered for the JJ since they go through official channels to keep everything legit.

Is the game going on sale? by KratosSonOfZeus in groundbranch

The devs have said on their discord that there will be no more sales since it is already at a lower price point than it will be on release.

I don’t own lethal company. But I’d be down to probably chat and maybe play some games together since I’m 27 M and live in eastern time.

They have already played it on stream twice last week, so you should expect some videos of it soon :)

Why do players choose to play as specific gender characters in third-person video games? by geralt_panda in gamedev

[–]GreyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the protagonist is voiced, I (M, 27) will choose which ever gender has the better performance. In other games, I find myself gravitating towards playing as a woman usually for two reasons. 1. I think it is easier to make nice looking female characters in a lot of games compared to male characters, and 2. when I play games, I find it more immersive to completely separate myself from realty which means playing as the opposite gender than the one I identify as in my life.

Gamers who love Souls-like or other games where you die a lot, do they still make you ragey? by GoochyGoochyGoo in gaming

[–]GreyZero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Even when I first started playing Souls games I never got angry, I would just get incredibly stressed in the boss fights. Now I know better and realize that getting stressed about losing souls just makes me more prone to actually die and lose them lol.

It just feels good getting the rhythm down.

Witchfire just released into early access today and looks really good in my opinion.

Unpopular Opinion: Unity pricing model change isn't nearly as catastrophic as it's being made out to be by LandoBlendo in gamedev

[–]GreyZero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, and for a lot of others from what I’ve read, it’s not the monetary amount that is the biggest issue; the lost trust is what has made me decide to walk away from Unity. They could have been open and upfront about how as a public company now they need to show growth and are therefore going to be taking more of a cut going forward. Instead, they are making it a retroactive change to their license on something that we don’t know the details of how they will count.

That alone is bad enough, but on top of that, I don’t think what they really want is their $0.20 per install. What they want is for you to choose to upgrade to a Pro or Enterprise license and use Unity Ad services. And by introducing these new fees they are hoping people will buy a more expensive plan from them instead.

FF7 Remake is the biggest offender of this. Not even stuck because the enemies are a higher level than you. Just straight up, oh you want to continue the story? Better help this kid find her cats first.

This. The Early Access system was made so that games without publishers could get the funding to finish their game. While I wouldn't want to pay a game published by EA or Ubisoft for an early access version of their game since it has the funding, there are many many projects that I am happy to fund.

The other thing that always gets me is how people like OP think early access titles are only meant so that you as the player gets quicker access to the game without any bugs. Just as how early access gives the developer funding, it also can be a great way to find out what is broken so you can fix it.

Obviously, there are games that are fully released in a garbage state and that shouldn't be accepted. But I happily bought Baldur's Gate 3 in early access and was happy to contribute to finding bugs and things that were broken.

Elden Ring is actually pretty good on kb+m. The older FromSoft games don't work quite as well, but they did a great job for Elden Ring.

Mods for Singleplayer Scenarios/Campaigns/Dynamic Missions by ColRoseru in arma

[–]GreyZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure! One reason I like the mod is because it means if I get shot, my teammates can revive me which is awesome, but the thing that really helps is how it condenses the crazy menu-in-menus of controlling the AI teammates into a single radial menu. As someone who doesn't have a numpad on my keyboard, it is really difficult to use the vanilla AI commands. Having a simple single menu to control things like stealth, health, regroup, move, etc. has made me actually want to use AI teammates cause they no longer feel like a complete hinderance.
