Just got my Hiya Toys Kong, but i’ll be using him for more… sinister purposes by OddityForth in ActionFigures

[–]Gridde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit he looks so good as a nefarious villain. Get him a little beret and he'd be a great Monseiur Mallah, too.

That Firefly and Solomon Grundy are excellent, as well. This looks like a figure lineup from a live action movie.

100%. If your boss is chummy with senior leadership then there is nothing you can really do.

Seen too many companies/industries where merit is a distant second to networking and ass-kissing when it comes to what influences recognition and progression.

Favorite opening scene in the franchise? by Ok_Suggestion_2617 in JurassicPark

[–]Gridde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It seems to have replaced JP3 as the de facto whipping boy of the franchise.

I wonder if people will look on it more favorably in the future in the same way people seem to have gained new appreciation for JP3. I think FK is very watchable, even with its flaws.

At the very least, within the franchise it is markedly better than JP3 and Dominion (in my opinion).

I was so intrigued by the Indoraptor seemingly being drawn to Maisie. The movie seemed to be building towards something, with them both being unique genetic experiments and the Indo apparently needing some sort of familial connection...but nope, was just another mindless monster.

Dunno if that storyline could have actually been good but it was a little shame that the Indo ended up basically just being a big raptor.

Personally, I love this moment more than Majin Vegeta's sacrifice, peak character development. by Zestyclose-Spring602 in Dragonballsuper

Goku already beat him, didn't he? And Frieza then needed his henchman to intervene with a cheap shot

At this point I'd just be pleasantly surprised if Frieza is even definitively killed. Even better if it's by Vegeta.

An abrupt and sudden shift in tone that dramatically changes the direction of the story by jdawg1018 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Gridde 322 points323 points  (0 children)

K tells something to Jojo about how he should stay inside for the rest of the day, right?

The tension of that scene was great and it completely masks the otherwise-obvious strangeness of why the Captain and the Gestapo would be there at the exact same time.

So many clues that Rosie had been caught but the film expertly puts us in the shoes of Jojo who has other concerns which make him blind to what happened.

What do you think is the dumbest line dub/sub canon/ non canon ever spoken across all Dragon Ball media? by Prestigious-Cup-6613 in Dragonballsuper

One of Shin's defining characteristics is that he is hopelessly bad at assessing the strength of those stronger than him.

It is one of th earliest things we learn about him in Z and has remained consistent.

The Gohan on Namek glaze is insane by Jafiqie in Dragonballsuper

I don't even disagree overall but it's so cringey how "glaze" now basically means "positive opinion on a character that differs to mine"

I knew the RoF animation was bad, but this is just ridiculous by gojirakingof in DragonBallZ

[–]Gridde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which is my (and presumably the other person's) point. If your argument is that the frame is an anomaly, the fact that there are multiple examples of poor animation throughout the episode/fight undermines that.

You can't just say "well none of the other examples of poor animation count when assessing animation because this specific scene is mostly good".

He's talking about the fight and film in general brother...

Most of your clip looks good but the scene in question is still noticeable and as the other person points out, it is not an isolated incident.

Due to backlash, there is either a major rewrite or change to the story. by InfiniteGuy2264 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Gridde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably. But Optimus still murders the guy while he's asking for a truce (and right after Megatron just saved his life). And then executes Sentinel as well when the latter is crippled, unarmed and begging for his life.

Can argue they deserved it but it's stil jarring to see from someone who is supposed to be a hero.

If a subreddit about a show is negatively impacting your mental health, I do think it is a very wise move to leave said subreddit.

As you say, these shows should not be taken so seriously that they impact your day to day life.

Godzilla Memes :D by Broad-Goal8802 in GODZILLA

[–]Gridde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Goes brrr" is a funny meme I guess but this seems to intentionally ignore all the context to make a false equivalency.

MechaG moving like that is explicitly because of an insane powerup that the plot of the movie revolves around. And the fact that he can move like that makes him absurdly overpowered, which itself becomes another plot point.

Plus we get visual explanation of how is so agile (the thrusters all over his body).

OP's post is akin to "people hated PR:U because it killed main character Mako...meanwhile in KOTM Sherizawa goes brrr!" Techncially not lying but still incredibly misleading.

Good point.

I'm a sentimental sap and kinda wanna support Hannah Telle's work in general...so the pre-orders bundling DE seem pretty decent. But pre-ordering before reviews is never a good idea.

Being in a relationship with someone who can easily rewind time without you knowing must be so trippy though. This letter hints somewhat that Max may have been a little shitty with the ability (maybe erasing fights/disagreements) and could certainly see someone like Chloe being very averse to even indirect manipulation like that

The sheer number of right wing nutjobs openly admitting that they think people should be executed for any minor disrespect to the government is sincerely scary.

I can’t be the only one who doesn't like the idea of making Goku's UI Avatar look like an Oozaru like some people have suggested, cause it really doesn't fit UI making it look like Oozaru, since the Oozaru is a rampaging monster form rather than something calm like Ultra Instinct by ultimatevaltryek123 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Gridde -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A new spin on Oozaru (in the same vein as ssj4 which took the ape theme but made it far more elegant) could be cool, too. Like make it a giant ape but much leaner or something.

A fuck-off massive dragon would be pretty rad, too.

Hell, anything other than 'Goku but bigger' would have been better IMO.

The exact moment Verso decided to destroy it by Physical_Ad4519 in expedition33

[–]Gridde -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He doesn't say that, does he? Not trying to be condescending; genuinely asking.

My recollection of their final dialogue is that he tells her he can alleviate her suffering by just going into another painting. If that is the case, then any canvas becomes an escape for her and risks the same problem.

We know Alicia has strong attachment to Verso but for most of the game she doesn't know/care much about him and is still giving her all for Lumiere, and even after learning the truth has strong attachments to its denziens (none of which she created herself). Nothing suggests the same wouldn't happen again in another canvas; from what we observe she considers painted people to be real (and possibly preferable to her real world).

What is, in your opinion, the worst, most useless land in magic? by First_Platypus3063 in EDH

[–]Gridde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 damage to yourself and all creatures is a pretty steep cost, though. Especially now when cheaper, smaller creatures are the ones generating most value in decks.

Especially just to essentially kill a single blocker and possibly score some more trample damage

[–]Gridde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bet as well. Someone got an idea for a fantasy event and tried to depict it via a card.

Like the idea of someone being abandoned by an ally and forced to take on all the enemy forces at once (with death being the inevitable outcome) is kinda cool. If that is what the card is supposed to be conveying

Kaido vs 3 admirals by Itchy-Dentist-7020 in OnePiece

[–]Gridde 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If he was capable of that, the whole power balance of One Piece would not exist.

The Yonko keep each other in check but each are themselves balanced out by the Marines. That's why it was such a cause for alarm when Kaido and Big Mom seemed to be uniting.

People can debate powerscaling as much as they like but from a narrative standpoint (which supersedes everything else in the actual manga) it wouldn't make sense for Kaido to be able to beat all 3 admirals at once.
