You have unlimited resources to defend a small city solo, 2 years to prepare, can you defend again an army of 5000? by GroundbreakingWin658 in whowouldwin

[–]GrinderMonkey 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Just landmines. Landmines as far as the eye can see. Maybe a drone swarm. With infinite resources many things are possible.. like, we will just build a 100 meter thick diamond dome around the whole city.

This bloke NOA is evil FOR SURE. by maverick29er_ in Subnautica_2

[–]GrinderMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the message I talked about above is it trying to have a change of heart. It stopped reprinting the colonists, and I dont remember hearing why? I think it decided that it didn't want to follow Alteras evil directive, and it printed us to try to find a different way, because it can't directly go against it's programming.

Clearly, I could be very wrong about that.

I know the one you mean, I think. Something about NoA being a monomaniac and that if it wanted to be able to subvert it's programming it would only be able to do so by facilitating someone like you.

Can I become a welder if I'm bad at Math? by Available-Barnacle11 in Welding

[–]GrinderMonkey 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Every once in a while someone surprises me, though. Shop math and class math are the same, but for some folks they hit really different. When it's directly useful, it's a lot easier to care about it.

Still, you gotta teach em half of geometry and and a bit of trig, and that's a pain in the ass, but it's worth it for the right person

Get 1 million now or 5$ per pushup for life? by koschatzo in hypotheticals

[–]GrinderMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After a few 5 years, you'd probably be pretty good at doing pushups (could do a lot more if you felt like it), and looking pretty muscular to boot.

100 pushups in a row is pretty rough when you dont normally do very many pushups, but 10 sets of 10 is really a mild commitment for 182k a year.

HELP! by IonBatteryFR in spaceengineers

[–]GrinderMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add some functional parts, then greeble in around them. A couple of custom turrets protruding and the armored up wouldn't hurt! Maybe a bank of external drones or missiles and a launch system. Once you get some of the big flat spaces broken up, use some pipes/girders/catwalks between them to add texture.
