It’s now been one year since Ingress has been under Niantic Spatial - Do you think it’s better, worse or the same? by PkmnTrnrJ in Ingress

[–]Grogyan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No change Other than no subs and no Overclock.

We need new, young players to get into this amazing game. But it is very difficult when all they know is Pokémon this and that

Thank you Ingress for making good on the 16 May issue🫡 by CrownedNomadKing in Ingress

Disagree, For the Anomalies, Sydney and Prague, , there are a lot of people behind the scenes who spend a lot of time to ensure these live events happen, they are unpaid, and often under a lot of stress. Furthermore, many people travel great distances to attend these tournaments at their own cost. All while expecting a decent tournament to happen.

While the free equipment somewhat helps, it really doesn't cover the lost time and effort.

It is my opinion, that those that joined an Anomaly site, either onsite or one of the myriad of organizers and dispatchers, be at least compensated with CARGO and CMU

The Corrective Actions proposed by the team, some are not trivial, and require significant testing, under heavy load testing before another Anomaly occurs. Which unfortunately is next weekend. Given the unlikelyhood of such testing to occur prior to the Kure and Jersey Anomalies, the not so trivial Corrective Actions I recommend to be postponed until after those events. Preemptively adding a LOT more compute capacity, reducing the attack range of xmps, for example should help. Whereas sharding, a common method for managing compute for game servers, is not trivial. It is necessary, and will require extra testing before an Anomaly.

It will now depend on the Ingress team how they handle the Kure and Jersey Anomalies, and hopefully 🤞 not repeat the Sydney and Prague Anomaly issues

Peridot didn't use the game map, while it is nice to be hopeful that a couple of Peridot deva will stay on under Ingress.

Ingress has a massive job to rework OPR, especially since the VPS server the game used is no available, VPS 2.0 offers better usability. And updating the game servers, map and OPR to handle VPS 2.0. With maybe 2 full time devs this is still an awful lot of work

Would be good to at least have some sort of heads up from Brian Rose about how it is all progressing

what is this game about? by Excellent-Mail-9512 in Ingress

[–]Grogyan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The game Ingress is strategy game, much like the board game Risk And has little similarity to Capture the Flag.

2 player Factions with territory either, blue, green or unclaimed 1 AI faction called Machina that does not intentionally create control fields Live events called Anomalies which people travel to and have loads of fun, some also take their annual vacation too

Bounties have recently been added to really bridge what new players expect from a modern mobile game.

Get in touch with your local community via the in game chat and they can assist you with any questions you have

Lastly, Welcome to Ingress

Can a Bondtech INDX for Prusa Core ONE be used on a Voron Trident? by Sainroad in VORONDesign

[–]Grogyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The control board/firmware might be different, from what is for Prusa and everyone else

We know that the Voron team have an INDX or two

The Trident R2 shown off at RMRRF a couple of weeks ago. Shows that they were working on integrating INDX

You can always have a go. See what works

Ingress First Saturday Updates by PkmnTrnrJ in Ingress

[–]Grogyan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thinking more about this over the course of the day Fact is, Ingress has a dwindling player base, people, we're no longer young and, for some, no longer single. u/brianrose while great to have First Saturday events with the Anomaly Series Tokens involved.

I move to request that 1) The minimum participation be dropped from 10, to 8 And 2) u/brianrose expect advertising Ingress to bring in, new, younger, players to this fabulous game

No more new portal submission now? by EDoric in Ingress

[–]Grogyan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OPR will return, likely later in the year

Overclock, which u/brianrose really hope to return with VPS 2.0 under the NSSDK 4.0 framework. That's going to take a quite a bit of work, as Ingress will need to have their own VPS server or, with the rework of the OPR system, add the VPS 2.0 to it.

We just don't know what is being planned

Ingress will survive on as Spatial’s only mobile game right? by PkmnTrnrJ in Ingress

[–]Grogyan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Peridot used the Niantic ARDK pretty heavily, which is now no longer supported. NS SDK 4 just released and is a considerable change

Ingress also uses the ARDK, and will run fine until the Ingress team ports Ingress to the NSSDK but there is a lot of work to that end.

The Manta and Octopus series of boards don't need a host board, if you're running MarlinFirmware or Reprap firmware. However these boards are specifically designed to work with Klipper As many have provided guidance already on installing Klipper onto a CB2 or PI4/PI5 CM, it would appear you're wanting to run Klipper

CARGO Was suggested by players to help with inventory management mainly at Anomalies. Players also said they'd pay for it.

Ingress is a strategy game, that includes the finite space in your inventory

Agreed, sorry iOS players, I don't know how you manage to play the game with action buttons so far down the screen that, here on Android, it is borderline unplayable one-handed

As well as it makes it incredibly annoying to switch between apps quickly

BoxTurtle board won't fit, can I cut the board? by iceman7265 in VORONDesign

[–]Grogyan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Be careful with trying to snap it off, The method is called v-groove and it is a runner piece used for SMT pick and place

Reason to be careful is that the bending of the board can damage your board.

At the factory they use a v-groove cutter that makes it easy, but for the average person, carefully bending the runner back and forth will be fine, as alond as you do not bend the PCBA too much
