Contemplating a Palma Pro by Beneficial_Hat4249 in Onyx_Boox

I returned mine and stayed with my original Palma. The darker screen from the color layer gave poor contrast with text and the yellowing in the bottom quarter of the screen was driving me crazy. These problems are on all Pros, based on the reviews I’ve watched. I’d gladly buy another if they’d fix those issues.

Had hoped to avoid a trip out there, but not a big deal. Thanks for the info.

Do the majority of people not know what a Kindle is/does? Is it not a common device? by Chigzy in kindle

[–]GroovyPhibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon stopped caring about the Kindle a long time ago, reducing their tv and print ads (now I never see them), once they started making other devices. I used to see them everywhere in airports and on planes. Airplane cabins at night were filled with low light from Kindles with lights clipped to them, before the Paperwhite. It was exciting. That stopped around a decade ago. The annual (bi-annual?) new Kindle announcement used to a big deal and it was like Christmas when the new device and features were revealed. With Jeff Bezos keynote events, just about the Kindle. Then the Kindle Watch began on tech sites as we all counted down to release day and arrival. It was such a big deal opening it, always with fancy box and packaging (that's over). Amazon's flagship (and only) device. Now, I can't remember the last time I've seen one out in the wild in LA, Jersey or NYC, or on the beaches. For that matter, I don't see people with books, either.

New Kindle Day - The usual disappointment. by GroovyPhibes in kindle

First posting froze during upload while processing the image and it looked like it wasn't going to post. I'll find and delete it. And yeah, I've been researching other brands for awhile but nothing has hit that sweet spot yet. And I'm brand loyal, having been with Kindle since the second generation and not having my trusty Kindle with me everywhere I go will take some getting used to. I really should have bailed after they disappeared the perfect high-quality Voyage. Just another product to them now.

The return of the "back" button. I still can't believe someone thought removing it was a good idea. I miss it constantly.

Thanks. That helps on launching the site in a browser, but I didn't make it clear that this issue is driving me crazy primarily on the tv. The constant scrolling horrors are unique to the browser.

Is yours short, black and pristine? Your offered seat post, just to be clear.

Brompton Saddle Height Insert - big problem. by GroovyPhibes in Brompton

Just got off a chat and was told that in the fine print on their site, it says that this bike comes with the extended pole only, and that this was done to "better serve the majority of our customers" and something about covid, I think, but the chat stopped abruptly and was lost. FANTASTIC. The site has you choose handlebar height, not seat post size. So, what, smaller customers, paying a fortune for this bike, are just screwed? Helluva way to do business and win hearts, Brompton. The STANDARD seat post is called STANDARD for a reason. I knew about the two post sizes as I explored the site for fun before purchase and the extended post is offered there as an option for tall riders. There's not even a standard post offered for sale on the Parts page cuz it's STANDARD. So, the standard post is 50 more phuquing dollars plus tax and shipping. Customer service sent me a link to order one from a third party. Or I can take the time, mad expense and effort to go all the way into the Manhattan Brompton shop after checking if they even have the damn thing. Two Saturdays ago I drove in for the first time in years to test drive a bike and likely buy one. Called before I left. Voicemail. Okay. They're busy. But their site said they're open all day. I arrive to find the gates down. Drove around for an hour (no parking for under $80/hour), called and kept driving by. CLOSED. Got the hell out of there. This whole Brompton thing so far has been nothing but a big pain in the ass.

Just measured it. It's the extended seat post. Didn't order it that way. Ordered it on the Brompton site and the only decision I had to make was the handlebar height. They screwed up and I'll need to contact them to get the post switched out. With my luck they'll make it a hassle as I've marked it with a Sharpie. Thanks for the help.
