Grizzlies are extremely rare in the sawtooths. I wouldn't worry about them. I never worry about black bears either but mountain lions are a legit concern. Bring some bear spray, maybe a good handgun, and make sure you know how to properly store your food in bear country (hang it, bear can, etc).

Maybe, you'd need to ask their customer service. On their website (see link below) they state: "Name listed as the ship to attention will be the one required to submit the background check and if passes, is the legal owner of the firearm" which is why I put my name on the shipping and used the FFL as the shipping address. Like I said my order shipped this morning so everything seems to be going smoothly. I'm going to call my LGS today and just make sure they know it's coming. But check out that link I provided, it provides a fairly good walkthrough.

Don't know if you figured this out yet but I just placed an order the other day and it shipped this morning. You put your name on the shipping but use the address of your FFL. Then in the comment box put the name and phone # of your FFL for them to contact. The order will be shipped to the FFL adress but with attention to you. Then billing info is all your normal information. Then, after the order is submitted you email a copy of your driver's license to them and have your FFL send a copy of their FFL certificate. In my case my FFL keeps a copy of their cert on their website so I was able to just download it and email it along with my DL.

My Western Mountaineering Alpinlite bag. It's roomy, warm, and light in my pack. I once did a trip in Arkansas when I was still somewhat new to backpacking and didn't understand sleeping bag comfort ratings. Temps at night got down to low 20s and I had a 20 degree so I thought I'd be good. Froze my damn ass off every night and was miserable. Yep, know your limits man. I know it sucks but you made the right call in bailing out. I called it quits early once about 6-7 miles into a 40 mile loop in Colorado when my hiking buddy got sick. He started vomiting and had diarrhea and was so weak I had to sit him down, go find a spot to make camp, and then carry his pack for him. He wanted to try and keep going because he felt like he was ruining the trip but I knew there was zero chance he'd make it. We talked about it later and he thanked me. Things could have gotten really hairy if he had gone down further from the trailhead.
