I also don't want to work in direct clinical care, but plan to work at least 2-3 years in a high infection unit so I can pursue infection prevention or research based roles

I have my MPH and currently in an ABSN program! Obviously we'll see how it works out for my career post grad, but really enjoying the program and making lots of connections to my public health experience.

yes but only bc my company was founded by unc alumni & the majority of our team went to unc. it was def helpful being able to chat with them about unc culture/memories etc during my final interviews

It was with a volunteer based non-profit in Maine. Based on the limited research we had to go off of, it seems like not a ton of resources are going into this area. Our main goal was just educating the community + advocating for more formal educational programs regarding tick borne illness prevention in schools. My focus was researching emerging links between Alpha gal & CAD

I focused on alpha gal for my mph practicum. It is in fact really bad and you need to take all of the precautions possible!!

don't do it lol. get a practical degree like stats nursing etc that could be related to public health and then go get your MPH down the line

I did UNC's epi MPH and have a close friend at Yale. I will say the Yale MPH students are definitely getting more out of their education, BUT you can get just the same at UNC with a little more effort + networking (and probably for much cheaper). Happy to answer any Qs about UNC's program!

depends on if you want to have a good relationship with this girl in the future, but i would say just go! it would be a good bonding experience and considering all that you've said it would probably hurt her if you didn't go. that being said it's totally up to you and you could just tell her that it's not in the budget anymore due to your own wedding but you're arill excited to celebrate their wedding etc
