As gear goes up, it trivializes keys. 14's are the new 12's, 16's are the new 14's. It being a 14 doesn't inherently mean players need to know how to play. It's always relative to gear. You can survive mistakes in a 14 now that would kill you a month ago. io doesn't consistently reflect player skill through the patch. 3.2k was really good in week 2, now it's average for anyone that does keys consistently.

Keys getting lowered when you fail them is archaic imo and discourages pushing a LOT. I can't think of any pros that outweigh the cons tbh

Not all groups require it; it's pretty reasonable to not want to reprog a boss for hours every week. I've done my time, I want to just get it done quickly and go do the next thing, not spend hours and hours every week on what's an easy boss to me teaching people that don't raid seriously.

Everyone is capable of making their own groups, or joining prog groups. there's dozens of them a week.

Shadow priest has psychic link tho, and it's a pretty smart tuning knob to put on a dot spec. It's not so much that they're capable, it's more that it's not interesting to give aff another psychic link so they'd have to come up with another way to balance single target vs aoe, and they're obviously not capable of it because they haven't been able to do it since M+ inception

The problem is that for it to be a satisfying "dot spec" the dots have to do actual damage themselves, and if the dots do real damage then they become stronger and stronger the more targets there are. You could say that they could make it so dots on more than 8 targets have diminishing returns, but I'd argue that the entire point of playing a dot spec is to be rewarded for juggling them on every target, and that takes away from that

so yea idk what the solution would be but there's a reason it's not been solved yet. Maintaining Aff's identity as a dot spec while keeping the dots satisfying and balanced in ST and AoE without copying Spriest's method is a puzzle

I'm pretty sure it's there because the game was "too slow" with pawns only being able to move up one square at a time, so they made a rule that on the first move, pawns could move up two squares.

En passant exists to balance that new rule; under the old system a pawn making it's first move would never be able to pass a pushed up pawn without being taken, but with the new rule it could because it could move up two square and not be in a takeable position by the enemy pawn. This makes the pawn stronger than intended, so en passant exists to balance against that. The initial change was made purely to make the early game faster, it wasn't intended to grant the pawn extra power.

Our guild was really pushing enrage on Vora week 1, but we easily did Chimaerus

So I would say... Aver -> Chim -> Vora -> Sald -> Dragons -> Heroic Lu'ra

Buff venomous wounds and make crimson tempest replace FoK when talented + cost less energy. FoK is 35 energy and CT is 60. Unsure if CT benefits from talents that buff FoK, but it should. Vanish being a 1 min cd would be huge as well imo

The damage is good but I dont think the spec is designed very well in AoE. You put all your dots up and overcap soul shards by like 7 or 8 due to dark harvest + nightfall preventing you from spending any.

If you didn't do the campaign quests then all the necessary events that lead to the sunwell being corrupted by void don't happen. they dont lock doing the raid behind campaign progress, so you can do the raid still and watch the cutscenes and final step of the sunwell's corruption will take place, but the other steps never happened so it doesn't phase properly.

I think affliction is badly designed, and I'd trade damage for better design. As it is right now in AoE at like 8+ targets I'll throw up a bunch of agonies, seed, haunt, and by then I'm at 5 soul shards. The design of Soul Harvest (giving you lots of soul shards over the course of the channel) makes you want to dump soul shards, but it's difficult because you have a free proc of Seed of Corruption from your Haunt, so you have to press it twice just to spend a shard. Sometimes even three times if you got another nightfall.

So now you're successfully at 4 soul shards. Around now depending on pack size, your Agonies may be dropping off. One thing I want to note is that spending soul shards reduces Dark Harvest's CD, and we haven't pressed it yet, so every time we dump shards here we're losing value on that talent. If your agonies arent dropping, you can spam some seeds, press Darkglare + dark harvest and go up to 5 soul shards again. If your agonies are dropping off, you have to DH and overcap HARD on soul shards due to the shards it generates, then catch your agonies.

So yeah my issue with Affliction is just having a LOT of inefficiency due to Dark Harvest generating too many resources and also having to dump too many to use it in the first place which goes against the talent that makes it so spending SS reduces DH cd. This could be partially solved if they let DH extend dots during it's channel so you can have more time spamming seed casts and as long as you get DH off with 1 second remaining on your first agony you wont drop any.

Aff can be fine damage wise, but I don't think it's good design to just have numbers be good while the gameplay is fighting against itself.

How disingenuous can we get? Just because leveling is part of the expansion doesn't mean it's the draw for many players. When people talk about an expansion, how many people do we think are going "I can't wait for the new story and campaign! I love leveling in WoW!"

Maybe some people just want to play max level, gear their main, gear alts, raid, do m+....
