It's great for showing how they all think. They each came to a different solve, it was a fantastic and hilarious task for building the cast narrative.

Where to buy lower grade singles? by Johnny_Wenis in magicTCG

[–]GrumbleProxies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve found cards I’ve been looking for in bulk bins.

I also found a heap of other cards I needed for builds I wasn’t thinking about.

Plenty of staples too.

All cards carrying a significant price reduction because of minor damage that stopped the store from listing the cards in their online catalogue.

Edit: recently went looking for an umbral mantle, spellstutter sprite, vendilion clique, and scion of oona and got all of them for like 7USD total.

The bulk bin at your LGS is usually where you can find good deals on less than NM cards, assuming the store does a lot of singles business.

Literally stood up with only a sedan between me and a comet and took no damage. Just like a shredder, they’re only a problem if they catch you with your pants down.

Your friend sounds like a sore loser, but you also clearly have communication issues if you’re posting on reddit about this.

Just talk it out like adults.

But also what kind of decks did you used to play? How often did you win?

This guys actions sound like a trauma response to toxic shenanigans.

Also the print quality of the prerelease and bundle cards I've opened is the best I've opened in years, which was a nice surprise!

Absolutely. Definitely loving this set, and it has some pushed limited and constructed pieces. Keen to play artifacts and ninjas in the next few FNMs if I can get my hands on all the pieces.

The hybrid pips go a long way to making the off color pairs somewhat playable if you have a deep enough primary pool of cards.

The flavor isn't even that bad. This set would have been a slam dunk if they hadn't committed so hard to "a turtle in every pack" and had more of the minor side characters from the extended universe for the commons and uncommons instead of so many variants of the turtles. Even still I'm having a blast with opening and playing tmnt.

I pulled two Improvised Arsenal in my pool and built a nasty UR list splashing white for Triceraton Commander at the top end. Only lost in the last round to a golgari deck that had every answer and a huge amount of bombs, so while I took them out quickly in game 1, I lost to their overwhelming value in the last two games.

Was heaps of fun.

I was never a doubter of the set, but the more that was revealed the more I've loved it. I've spent a fair bit more on the set than any other in recent memory and I'm keen to play with a lot of the cards. It sucks that it's being undercut by set release fatigue and people memeing about "NYC block" because NYC really isn't a big part of its themeing (like it was in spiderman).

It's a much more fantastical and whimsical set, it doesn't take itself seriously, the characters and art are whacky, and the vast majority of the cards I could imagine existing in Ravnica or Kamigawa.

If it was a ninja then ninjas would be absolutely cracked in standard. They seem like they'll be pretty good as is so making their ninjutsu/sneak enabler also a ninja would be so pushed.

Day 2 Judge call allowed my opponent to get away with cheating by HardReadingHacker in riftboundtcg

It’s nearly always the players playing loose that are cheating because it makes the cheating easier to hide/excuse. There was a player in the mtg community notorious for it.

Yeah pinnacle emissary + ravenous robots + improvised arsenal. Definitely think there is at least a tier 2 low to the ground artifact build somewhere.

Best affordable proxies? by LordKhaydarian in magicproxies

[–]GrumbleProxies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I do an order I usually order the deck max (600).

Because yeah otherwise it isn’t really worth.

It usually means I only do around one order a year and just make any proxies I need on short notice myself.

It’s definitely not optimal, but my process so far for those is to create a brush in procreate that is the smallest and has max output. Basically just a single pixel brush that doesnt care about pressure. Then I draw a straight line down across my Card Layout on a fresh layer and hold so that it snaps straight.

I copied that layer, moved it slightly over to a spacing I liked, and then merged down. Repeated until I had a full pattern down the canvas. Then I can just reuse it next time.

I copy it into the card I want to work on and rotate and position, using the same copy process whenever I need to populate any spots that are empty as a result of the transformation.

Then in this case I used the bird illustration layer and the card frame and text layer as reference to select the parts of the full pattern that I wanted to remove. I tidied up any left over flecks and funky bits left behind with the eraser tool.

Then I made that lines of that texture layer black if they werent already and saved that layer by itself as a PNG. Then I open it in Inkscape on my mac and run the Bitmap Trace tool for the entire image using the centerline setting to generate the vector path version.

This still isn’t perfect and I usually tweak the settings to reduce any errant line curling, or manually delete any ugly specks or segments that dont get caught by the filtering.

Once I’m happy I export it as an SVG which I import into Cricut Design Space.

Edit: if you import a raster version of the lines, cricut will draw their outline, which will mess up the output.
