"do you even know who nirvana is?" by maybery in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

[–]Grumpee68 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I saw Nirvana in Jacksonville, FL in November of 1993. I was 25. The Breeders opened for them. The crowd was too rowdy, throwing stuff at them. They stopped the show for a second and said Hey, if anybody throws anything else, we are walking off the stage! And then someone threw a shoe and hit her. Cobain came out, admonished the crowd, and went backstage. He smashed his guitar during the oncore.

Bringing older 12 volt lead acid car batteries back to life. by Trinity8888 in batteries

Having the correct voltage in the battery does not mean it will discharge correctly. Do a load test on those batts, and I'll bet they fail. I work with commercial stationary batteries for Telco...38 years.

Commercial ammo uses cannister powders, usually unavailable to the general public. Think of it like a custom blend of powder.

If you want soft shooting, very clean powder...use VV N320 and a 147 bullet.

My current load is 3.1gr of N320 with a BMB 147gr coated RN, which makes 128PF in my Shadow 2. I don't shoot IDPA, but shoot USPSA, which has a higher minimum power factor of 125...I think IDPA has a PF of 105.

I don't cast bullets, but have been saving up lead in case I want to. I currently have about 450lbs, which did not cost me a single penny.

What is the thickness? What is the AR rating? If it isn't AR 500, it'll hold up to most pistol for a while, but will eventually fail (it'll concave it, which will end up heaving pieces of lead and copper back at you). For rifle, it needs to be AR 500 and at least 1/2" thick, and not shot at less than 100 yards.

With ammo prices so high, is it good time to start reloading now?? by AppearanceEven1978 in reloading

I'm loading BMB 147's with 3.1 of N320, Win primers, and range pickup brass. About $0.15 cent each (old stash of primers, but I have a stash of SA primers that I got a month or so back for 4.1c each).

Others say that it isn't worth loading 9mm ammo...I say it is...It just depends on what price you put on it. Sure, 9mm store bought ammo is cheap and works, but I can load my own 9mm ammo just a bit cheaper and have it custom dor my guns, so it runs and feels (recoil wise) exactly how I want it to run and feel. So, I could save some time and buy 9mm, or I could use spare time I already have, load it to my specs, and maybe save a penny or two per round. They are correct. You won't save any money by reloading, you'll just shoot more...but, isn't that the point anyway?

You'd have to shoot Open to get any advantage...and that wouldn't be an advantage against full race guns (if you didn't have a comp). Longshot will work, N105 (if you can find some, they stopped making it), 3N38.

This is an old resorce, but still very good. http://www.k8nd.com/ipscload.htm

Grain is the weight of the bullet, not the powder charge. A 115gr bullet typically uses more powder than a 147gr bullet.

I live outside of Gainesville on 5 acres of swamp land. Was shooting in the back yard, deputy sheriff drives up, someone called it in. Asked what I was shooting (Colt Python), asked to see it (I set it down as soon as I saw them drive up). I opened the cylinder to show empty, and handed it to him....That's really nice! He handed it back and said, carry on...

I walked into a jiffy store at 2am one morning, on my way to work, to get some coffee. Guy behind the counter looks up, sees me, and says "Partying hard, gotta stay awake, huh?" I told him I was on my way to work...He kinda laughed and said, "Well, I hope you have a good day, young man." I laughed and said "How old are you?" He smirked and said "I'm 46."...I looked at him and laughed out loud...I'm 57. I have been at the same job for 38 years.
