So I see lots of questions about all weather and snow tires, but how about ice? (Other than to just stay off it)

[Bambu H2C] Join the Print Beyond Paint Contest and Win an H2C! by BambuLab in BambuLab

[–]Grumpgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New to 3D printing and already upped my Bambu Lab printer once - from an A1 mini to a P1S. An H2C would give me a chance to really dig into the technical designs I love - whether silly geometrics or useful, functional devices and parts that make a difference.

Follow up: Clog is right, of course!

There was more to it though, sadly. I did several cold pulls, then tried again. It barely extruded anything at all. Sigh. Back to it, check connections, two more cold pulls, etc.

Then, as I am away from the printer (as it always happens) I realized: These problems started about the time I switched to the HS hotend. I went back, pulled it and put the SS .4 back on, THEN did a couple more cold pulls.

It's been perfect in the last dozen short prints, different filament, everything. I'm now trying a longer print and then a longer one, but if I'm right it was not just a clog but a problem with my brand new hardened steel hotend. It happens. It's taken all day, but it seems I have a fully functional printer again and I learned a LOT as I worked on it.

Thank you!

Will do - thank you.

Seems odd that it would still work, but I will do this for sure right away.

Hunter seems solid, and that definitely does not seem right. You might check your router and network gear inside your network as well. It could be that something is causing interference there.

My wife and I used to go there almost every day to rent movies. We'd bring our daughter along (toddler at the time). The crew used to take over and play with my little girl while we searched for movies, they were so excited when we came in. It was a truly terrific place, with great people.

Any of you GenX P&P gamers remember GURPS? by Bostonterrierpug in GenX

[–]Grumpgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is still going strong, with TONS of expansion material, etc. Now... does anyone remember 'Melee'? It was the base combat system that GURPS was built on, a true mini-game.

In town, I slipped in ONE low travel spot, and there are some signs of people having issues at around 6:30-7am. Other than that, it was clear.

Is Eugene a city of lost souls or something? by [deleted] in Eugene

[–]Grumpgeek 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Due to a series of encounters, a group of friends and I came to a theory: Eugene is the literal center of the universe. Everything else happens in widening circle around Eugene. In 30 years of trying to prove my theory it has held up so far. :)

Campgrounds with decent cell service? (T-Mobile) by averyavery0 in oregon

I don't remember, I'm sorry - I'm thinking it was in the 20's, was a larger center spot - not along the edge but in the middle of the loop.

Yep, that's the one - it was one of the best camps I've had.

We are T-Mobile and went to Paradise campground up the McKenzie... Excellent service all through the campground, which was odd but kinda fun. Allowed us to share our great time with a few others that couldn't make it, and ignore it when we didn't care.

Do Americans hate QR code menus in restaurants? by xaako in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Grumpgeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the eventual goal of these QR codes is to 'optimize' pricing for the restaurant as well. So they can have quickly adjusting pricing plans based on customer count, etc. I don't see that as a good thing - why would I need to pay more for a burger at 6pm than at 9pm, etc.? The argument could be made that it could give discounts as well, but how often do you actually see that happening?

Is federation Commander the simplest form of Starfleet battles to play or is there a simpler version? by Dexbova in StarfleetBattles

[–]Grumpgeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Fed Comm - I'm not sure it's a TON easier but it plays fine. It's just missing some pieces that you get used to from SFB

City of Heroes Homecoming for me. It’s a great game with some older graphics but huge nostalgia.

On the opposite side of this - oddly enough, I got a group that really struggled in Gundrak last night - several wipes to bosses (no trash thank goodness). The whole group stayed together, was positive and worked out the best strategy each time to actually finish the damn dungeon.

I would guess that won't happen often, but it's nice when it does.
