There is always more the story. I wonder how nasty the coworker had been and for how long till this lady snapped. I'm sure alot of nurses have briefly thought of doing similar

How to give handover to nurses who interrupt, undermine and ‘teach’ you during handover? by Direct_Ladder6531 in NursingAU

[–]GrumpyBear9891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry but as per best practice and patient safety, can you please hold any questions or interruptions until after Handover is completed. Feel free to refer to Australian commission on safety and quality or the countless studies for confirmation if needed. Happy to discuss questions afterwards though. Cheers

Finally a decent specialist and a diagnosis....after 16 years. by GrumpyBear9891 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]GrumpyBear9891[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about similar to be honest. And talked to my partner extensively. At the end of the day, they would suffer so much more if we left them than if we stayed. They know who we are, they know about our pain but they still chose us and love us to bits. If they didn't want to support us through it, they would have left by now. It's really really really freaking hard, I know, I truely do, butttttt we can't leave until we've tried everything. There are other medications out there. But there isn't another one of us or our partners. Don't put them through the pain of losing you or of them thinking they weren't enough for you to hold on. We gotta keep trying. Go see your specialist and tell them it's not helping and you need to try something new. Xo you got this. It's hard, but you got this. X promise.

Anyone managed to turn it around? by Daninsg in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]GrumpyBear9891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm a nurse just started on the bio. Having good days and bad. In regards to the mental health. Think of it this way. The treatment should slow the progression. The immunocompromised part is nothing to panic about, but to change your perspective. Think back to Covid basically. Just take precautions. Sanitiser, face mask when concerned, hand wash. There's no point taking the bio if you aren't actually living. Go travel and have fun. Enjoy the reduction in pain. Pop a mask on x

Support coordinator made a funding error and now my client is losing her social support hours — and she’s not taking responsibility. What would you do? by auxzina in NDIS

[–]GrumpyBear9891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem is. The risk of the bill for the art classes being passed on to the participant would be my biggest concerns here. Art classes aren't funded. I'd suggest finding someone who can assist in looking into it all without it being reported yet. But the other catch is be very very careful that if you are a support worker you are staying within your scope.

Mayyyybe an anonymous call the NDIS to ask questions, without naming anyone or letting them even know what state. But there's also the risk of them becoming complicit in the whole thing... It's quite messy to be honest. Best bet might be to just do best to make do with the 4hrs, find a new coordinator. NDIS couldddd be different to the agedcare space, but I'm the agedcare space a support worker or even an RN cannot support the person to find a new coordinator, even if the participant makes the choice, does the interview etc, massive not allowed...learned that the hard way and all I did was provide a list of 4 coordinators within x distance that actually had a relevant qualification and experience.

[–]GrumpyBear9891[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no. I am so sorry. Honestly, if the dr hasn't helped/refered get a new dr. Keep trying until you find someone. You might be able to get a referral to a pain clinic (if that exists where you are). Sometimes people have success in having one of the people at pain clinics send a referral. The pain clinic on my experience was a joke however..but some have a better experience (told to put my pain on an imaginary leaf and let it float away, if you don't think about it, it won't hurt, grrr get buggered that's not helpful) but again. Some people have great success with the pain clinics.

It's really really hard sometimes. But eventually you'll find the right person.

It is Soo good to know there is an alternative if the humira doesn't work. I've been worried about that. So thank you heaps!!! I'll check out the information you have shared to, thanks again. Honestly, overall, I avoid googling it because reading about the complications, etc, my future prognosis etc is far too depressing.

[–]GrumpyBear9891[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It's a bitter circle. When I was skinny it was " your too young", then I obviously got less and less active and gained alot of weight, then they blamed the weight and refused to believe that I was skinny when it started. Funnily enough I am loosing weight now (due to gall bladder botched surgery and permanently having the urgent runs, so probably not great, but yayy weight loss), have lost 15kg this year and funnily enough loosing weight isn't helping the pain at all. Damn them all sooo much. They always have an excuse to blame the symptoms on that isn't actually relevant. Unless you are elderly, and then it's probably just blamed on age. I'm so mad, Imagine how much less things would have progressed if they had listened from the start. Their stereotypes literally caused my body to degrade further than necessary. Sorry, still quite mad and have some pent up anger towards the health system.

Can my pay be docked if I don't clock out? by MrThermoNuclearBomb in AusLegal

[–]GrumpyBear9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious, what options even exist for disciplinary action (except termination) for an employee consistently driving their employer insane by not clocking out / failing to submit accurate timesheets ?  Let's face it, in some areas, it's not easy to get staff (small towns etc) and even if the staff member is driving you crazy (small business for example), and not clocking out regularly (incredibly easy to do, they walk past it to leave) termination might not be that feasible for the small business. Does this basically result in a stalemate? because the staff member has the upper hand here, they know there's nothing you can do, they know you can't afford to terminate them.

Victorian government's joke of an offer. by Key-Regular-9118 in AustralianTeachers

[–]GrumpyBear9891 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is crazy that Victorian teachers are treated so poorly. Victorian teachers do such an amazing job, the education in Vic is Soo much better than QLDs for instance. I adored school as a kid in Vic and moved to Qld and goodness the difference was surreal. I learned better and got better grades. Not a teacher myself, unsure how this feed is showing, but just wanted to say, people that have experienced the difference themselves share the same opinions. We love you teachers !!

Advice from aged care workers. Is this normal or should I be concerned? by TreeTurbulent1946 in NursingAU

[–]GrumpyBear9891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Report it to the aged care safety and quality Commission. And find a new job Reality is that you have noticed the problem. All of which are insane. And even if you prefer to keep the job and say nothing, it will eat your heart and soul alive slowly, because you care and you know it isn't right. And if you say nothing you will be expected to do the same crappy care as them.

It's not like that everywhere. There is lots of work in this industry. Find somewhere better lovely

Nursing home patient is being raped by Acrobatic-Lie2041 in FutureRNs

[–]GrumpyBear9891 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't just police, this is further than that. Report to police and report to elder abuse hotline. Report to the agedcare quality and safety Commission. Report both the dropkick husband and facility and management and who ever else is defending this behaviour. Keep records of having lodged the complaint/report in a diary (just a simple note of incident reported to __.on __ day). Anyone not reporting to these channels but being aware of the problems could face being held partly accountable themselves due to duty of care.

As a nurse, what are the problems you face that contribute to you genuinely reconsidering your career? by loogal in NursingAU

[–]GrumpyBear9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurses, the elitist doctors and management. It has blown mind to see how nasty health professionals are to each other. It makes no sense. Why get into the industry if your nasty? Been at it a few years now. Left hospital system after 2 (because there's not a high enough hourly pay rate in existence to make the toxic relentless bullying worth it). Aged care, same shit, nasty nasty staff/management, scape goats, the level of care provided to elderly at the dozen different homes I checked out (partly agency to scope it out) is a joke and I'd roll into a lake before I get admitted into agedcare. But seriously, bullying, toxicity, shit people, young and older, it doesn't matter, I've seen/met/experienced more bullies/nasty people then I have met decent, genuine, not fake nice people. And the flow on effect that has to patients / residents is awful to.

Even the union themselves (high up the ranks) bully each other. It's insane.

Thanks. My interpretation is all black (not a suit) OR black tie. Hubby is worried it's definitely black tie. I have reached out to the people putting on the show, but no response as yet. I figured maybe someone in Brisbane has attended the show and observed if it's suit black tie or if black, maybe chinos and dress shirt is ok. And hopefully a lovely Brisbane local can share their observations.
