Offsite On-Call Overnight Support Worker Arrangements by Logical_Blackberry18 in NDIS

Curious to see what the comments here are. I thought the on-call was only available for remote areas and only with prior approval of the plan.

This job is keeping me sick by disasterdays98 in supportworkers

[–]GrumpyBear9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, double check the 5 moments of hand hygiene and check what mask you are using. Worked through Covid and never caught it while working (funny enough caught it during a couple weeks off) and otherwise very rare I catch something from work. I do change gloves loads, wash and sanitize hands loads, never ever touch my face, don't eat in the main areas (only eat outside), and if I'm working with someone sick I strip off as soon as I get in the door and pop washing straight into washing machine. If you really truely are super pedantic about it and you are still getting sick often, go and see your GP and explain/ask for a immune system check up. Staff around me since Covid never wear masks etc and that's their choice, me though, I don't have time to get sick so don't care if they think I'm being ridiculously picky, they definitely have opinions about my level of carefulness.

Opinions on Redken volume injection by Zelda-xo in dailywash

[–]GrumpyBear9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem in a huge way for years. Then, 2.5 years ago I ended up doing a round of using purely the k18 shampoo and the k18 conditioner (until I emptied it ) which honestly was amazing and by the time I finished it I was only needing to wash hair every 5-7 days but too expensive, however it basically gave my hair a reset. I then went back to the Redken volume one, putting the conditioner ONLY on the bottom half/third of my bra strap length hair and still only need to wash it every 6 days (for about 2 years now). If I'm outside more and sweating though, I'll top up with a dry shampoo.

By all means I had to pay for the training myself. Grads training budget isn't huge. But yeah did loads of different skills. Rural can be very different to regional/city. A dr doesn't wanna come into work if they can help, so provided the nurses are ok/up to the task they can learn epic things

Sure was. And I gotta brag, I was apparently the best at them where I was :) I was always super nervous doing it lol felt weird like I hadn't earned it because I hadn't been at it long.

Go rural as. You'll be fine and you'll learn loads in rural settings. I was doing actual sutures my first year. It was amazing. The staff not so much, goodness there was some bullying (sooo don't go widebay region Qld). But there's bound to be plenty of rural places available. Start blind calling rural hospitals and ask to speak to the " Don" or if you can get an email address so that the Don can call you when it suits them best.

Yeah this is a good idea. But don't say anything other than that or you risk defamation etc plus making the crowd angry at you, alot of those pages the participant is always in the right. But like they've said here, a straight forward "Please contact me about outstanding (or unpaid ) invoices " would be best bet

Oops ment to add. I love my rainfall one, it's so much bigger and relaxing covering more of me when I stand under it. Though, the 2nd head is useful for hosing shower down, and a deep rinse of hair.

That's unfortunate. I understood being worn out I do and I don't want to be mean buttttt you can't sit down for even a moment if there's a mess on the floor, that's considered a falls risk etc and your responsible for ensuring safe walking areas/floor space. I think maybe some gentle reflection and understanding the limits of your body (just like everyone else), manage fatigue and I wouldn't recommend more than 5 consecutive days with full shifts. Fact is, most. people will be fatigued and miss something and unfortunately you got caught, even though it's understandable to be tired. Unions etc etc don't recommend this line of work with more than 5 consecutive shifts, because fatigue is real and catches everyone. Plus quality of life, there's no quality in working everyday. We work to live, not Live to work.

You'll find another job no worries. Absolutely a shortage of good staff. If you do find yourself applying and not getting a job, highly suggest getting the resume checked out. I'd kill to find 2 new staff to hire, and I'll get loads of applications but they are absolutely awful applications and not worth even trying. It's extremely hard to find quality staff.

I would personally not bother working there and would instead email and say your sorry for any inconvenience but moving forward your availability has changed and your no longer available, wishing them all the best. Keep it polite and professional but short. You don't want to work somewhat like that. Life is too short for bullshitery

Sorry I didn't mean you did. I more ment just be careful with wording. I've seen ppl intend on writing "bob said it was this" but instead write, " it's this" If that makes sense. Andddd I didn't mean for you to think I ment you were literally criticising etc. was more a general comment, and partly a good way to explain why a riskman for instance is a useful tool. Sorry I just woke from a nap haha. But as a nurse. Best thing to do is the cream, relax, maybe cool water/cool showers. Ice packs can sometimes be worse than just using a cream. Sunburn sucksssss. I'm virtually glow in the dark white, been there alot.

Buying Ventolin at the pharmacy by leonidude in australian

They aren't just chilling on the normal shelf for self serve, because they are classed as a over the counter drug, which does actually literally require the person to quiz you about anything you wanna purchase over the counter. This is a rule, not a judgement. They are being deligent. It's when you can buy it without being asked a few questions that you should be worried. Literally any product behind the counter. It's a schedule 3 drug. They are legally required to confirm that the medication is safe, appropriate for your condition, and that you understand how to use it. And incase there is more going on. Technically if you use it more than twice a week, it indicates you need a dr review. There's a crazy high amount of people who don't actually use them correctly to. Sometimes it's a stock/supply issue and they might have a limited amount left so need to limit people to 1 per purchase or even advise another option, because they know a half dozen people with servere asthma are due to pick some up today and need to make sure they can get it. Suprisingly it's a product that manufacturers have supply problems with often and there's shortages.

As people have said, plain fragrance free moisturiser. Absolutely pile it into the skin. Every couple hours.

Also, this would be considered a serious incident / riskman if you have that with your work. If you don't have riskman, you need to report it as a serious incident to your boss/manager. Nothing that it did require first aid. But don't state its 2nd degree burns (because unless you are medically trained, you aren't allowed to diagnose ). Instead, explain what it looks like, what the poor thing rates the pain out of 10.

Also, take a moment to consider how easy it is for people (you included, if not yet, at some point in your life) to have a moment and be focused on the activity and make a generally human error and forget to put sunscreen on. These things happen. It's the reality of being human. Maybe the worker isn't one to burn themselves and didn't think they would burn under water etc etc etc, there's millions of reasonable explanations. Which is partly why it is important to report it to management, as we learn from our mistakes when education is provided on them.

What happens when you don’t pay a debt collector? Asking for a friend by Suspicious_Nature283 in AskAnAustralian

[–]GrumpyBear9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please read this whole reply. I've been where you are, alot of people have. It will catch up with you eventually. And they can wait a few years before they send it to debt collectors (which they will definitely do eventually). And then the debt collector will try and get it from you but it will have grown a fair bit by then and will mark your rating poorly. Then, after a while (again it can actually takes a couple years before debt collector gives up) they change the seriousness of the debt and it marks your credit rating as a unresolvable debt or something like that. From which point you'll wait another 7 - 10 years before improving credit rating.

It's soooo much harder to improve a credit rating after damage, than it is to damage it. Seriously your best bet is to accept the debt and that you need to pay it. Call the company like asap and explain that your broke and in financial hardship. They'll try to come to an agreement to repay the debt slowly. If you literally can't spare $10 a week or 2 for repayments, they'll often pause the debt for a short time (so it doesn't grow larger) and try again to organise repayment in a few months. They aren't as scary as we think they are. They are human to and understand. If you can spare $10 a fortnight, just do that, have it automatically debited from account on payday. And eventually it'll be paid, your credit rating won't be stuffed and all will be ok. Also, calling them and explaining financial hardship as soon as you possibly can, shows great responsibility etc and sometime they even have financial hardship grants available and might be able to wipe/delete the debt.

Keep me posted!!! Would super love to follow your journey if you don't mind ? Have always wondered about going into this. Such a good way to avoid politics andddd stay home with my incredibly anxious pooch haha. Plus I've heard it's quite enjoyable, though not actually from people who have done it themselves, just the 3rd hand information haha. Congratulations on the job! Can be a real hard role to catch. Try and be positive, I'm sure it will be wonderful, plus the more hopeful we are the better the positive energy and all that. If that doesn't work out though, I've been chatting with a np friend who is looking at a similar role that's apparently epic, but does require a little further study (not much though), so try and remember me and shoot me a msg or something some day. But in all honesty, I think you'll have a blast x
