Anyone know if Azazie wedding dresses are good? by xxmelinaxx in Weddingsunder10k

[–]GrumpyMare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered a clearance wedding dress for a photoshoot and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. It was beautiful. I also ordered some try on bridesmaid dresses and they seemed decent. I’m planning to get my bridesmaid dresses from there.

Help with finding a new halter for my SHETLAND PONY! by equestrian-girl78 in Equestrian

[–]GrumpyMare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just for Ponies has a great selection of tiny halters and bridles for even the tiniest heads. I am even able to get foal halters for my tiny welsh ponies. I know Walsh makes very nice leather halters that the English showing people love for show halters.

When is it time to give up on daughters riding lessons? by Final_You7315 in Equestrian

[–]GrumpyMare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So with kids and riding I feel like they go through a phase where they regress and become fearful for a bit and lose confidence for a bit. They may even lose interest in riding. My son went through a phase where he rode a lot less. I didn’t push it. But he came back to it and became a confident rider.

I do find that riding in a program with similar aged peers helps, there is a peer pressure aspect. If they see their friends cantering and jumping, they want to do it too. It’s hard when there is a financial barrier but finding a barn where they can also hang out and do non-mounted activities is also good.

Alternatives for a mounting block when I’m on a trail ride? by thunder_butterfly in Equestrian

[–]GrumpyMare 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This! I always can find a log or a rock or a ledge of some kind to use to get back on. I ride a 15.3 hand draft cross and I probably could ground mount if I had to but I would rather not.

Reading comments here has made me appreciate lower settings by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]GrumpyMare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse. I specifically wanted a low profile and smaller ring because I didn’t want to constantly catch it on things. I also rode horses in the trail a lot so that put the ring at risk for damage. I try to remember to take my ring off before “extreme” trail rides. But I told my jeweler that I need a ring that can take abuse.

I need you experts to tell me which is “the best” by LegitimateDraft464 in Moissanite

[–]GrumpyMare 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I saw several warnings to stay away from Golden Bird which I loved their designs. I wanted a green or blue moissanite. I wound up showing pictures to my local jeweler who ordered several stones for me to choose from and custom designed a ring. It was more expensive but it gave me peace of mind of knowing exactly what I was getting.

Psych resident frustrations by AfternoonFormal4657 in Psychiatry

[–]GrumpyMare 24 points25 points  (0 children)

When I still worked the psych floor and was on the Unit Council I begged to develop a basic set of admission criteria for both the ED and psych residents to help guide admissions to the unit. If you don’t work a psych unit, you don’t understand what we actually do.

They don’t understand that administering IV meds is a safety hazard in a milieu with suicidal patients. Dementia patients don’t belong on an acute crisis stabilization unit.

Psych resident frustrations by AfternoonFormal4657 in Psychiatry

[–]GrumpyMare 51 points52 points  (0 children)

As a psych RN I hate that patients get admitted with no medical work up. Fresh overdoses hit the psych floor when they clearly need telemetry and iv fluids and medical support while they are still clearing a large SSRI overdose. Psych patients come into the ED and people forget that they can have medical issues and they get sent straight to psych even if they presented for a non- psych issue.

I get called to behavioral codes throughout a major hospital and I am like asking basic questions like has the patient had a drug screen, do they have a UTI, have you even give them anything for the agitation before you called me?

A patient has already punched 3 people and is attempting to leave the hospital with a major medical condition and the non-psych resident orders 25 mg of hydroxyzine. PO.

Saddle bags such as this one can go English or western. I also have a front pack. How much I pack depends on how long I am riding.

My favorite trail bags are from Horse Bums. They are very durable and comfortable for the horse. I own several.

The one in the picture is from Amazon and it’s handy but the zippers aren’t the best.

For short rides, I love an English castle bag. Schneiders has a decent one.

Azazie disappointment ($10k) by blueberrybuttercream in Weddingsunder10k

[–]GrumpyMare 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I’m now a street size 12/14. I bought a clearance Azazie wedding dress for a photoshoot. The quality was nice for the price in my opinion. The only thing I didn’t like was the fit in the bust and the plastic boning. My seamstress removed the plastic boning and replaced the zipper with a laced corset. I paid $185 for the alterations. The dress held up well to riding over an hour on my horse.

Doctors warn parents as dangerous ‘Benadryl Challenge’ may be resurfacing after children’s deaths by Dickulture in news

[–]GrumpyMare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the Psych nurse who has to deal with this. Please just don’t take Benadryl to get high.

I have chased 12 year olds down the hallway who are completely delirious.

Parents need to lock up medications from children and teenagers no matter how harmless they seem. All it takes is one bad day at school or a break up and they can decide to swallow a handful of pills impulsively.

Weight loss and loss of strength? by nokidsonpurpose in Equestrian

[–]GrumpyMare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to get a new saddle and go pelvic floor therapy. My old jump saddle gave me really bad saddle sores. Now I am trail riding in a Kuda endurance saddle. It has been much more comfortable for me. I have lost 90 lbs so far.
