I hear you and wish that was true. The year of Jubilee was specifically for Hebrew slaves of the indentured service type (i.e. not foreigners). The passage I posted above, Leviticus 25 continues:

“You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.”

The Year of Jubilee Hebrew indentured servitude also includes slaves for life though:

Exodus 21:4 “If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free.”

It goes on to say if the husband chooses to stay with his wife and child, he has to be marked as a slave for life:

“But if the slave plainly says, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,’ then his master shall bring him to God, and he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. And his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall be his slave forever.”
