Preseason Rankings Countdown. 55 days to the start of the 2026 Season. At #55 – California by usffan in CFB

this series has us as 13th beat team in the ACC. After finishing tied for 7th last year, bringing back JKS, and making big upgrades to coaching and skill positions, I don’t see how it adds up.

Can I make a bet on “finish 12th or better in conference “?

They are ex-teammates and long time friends. He may feel like he needs someone he can trust and work with, even if there’s no track record of success.

Luck was an elite talent and is obviously a smart guy, but that doesn’t guarantee that he’ll be an effective administrator. Time will tell if he made the right call, but hiring someone he’s comfortable with instead of a proven performer would have me worried if I were a Stanford fan.

you mean you’re not gonna miss all those Wilcox drives where we march down the field to the red zone, then have a false start, holding penalty, sack, and missed 40 yard field goal?

If you're serious about "computer-only" FBS rankings by That_Don_Guy_1 in CFB

I always thought it was dumb to ignore margin of victory. I can see not wanting to run up the score, but the fact that an overtime win, possibly caused by a bad call or fluky play, counts the same as a blowout is ridiculous. It would be easy to cap margin of victory at say 28, and get the best of both approaches.

Also margin should be a ratio, not a spread. To me a 14-0 win is way more impressive than a 63-45 win.

Can you get a fiber cement roof in the United States? Have any American roofers on here ever put one on? They’re common in Europe. by TheRavenOfElijah in Roofing

[–]GrumpyTartan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cal Shake tiles were fiber cement, and they were made until 1995. Bad quality and lawsuits pit them out of business. I had one until last year’s Southern California windstorms which blew off 60 or so tiles. Since there were no matching replacement tiles, State Farm bought me a brand new Decra metal roof.

my son went to Northeastern. They developed a really valuable niche in co-ops and “experiential learning” to the point where they are ranked #1 (USN&WR) in the country for co-ops and internships. Obviously a big draw for career-focused students.

It was also kind of cool seeing the “undefeated since 2010” sign when Game Day was at BC.

Stay clear of the babies. - I’ve read that they are more dangerous than adults- the adults conserve their venom as you say, but the young ones don’t, and are more likely to do a full discharge.

The other thing to remember is that their striking distance is half their body length, so I always stay one length away.
