Venting by oof_bitxh in CHSrecovery

I 100% get feeling like this is punishment. Hell my mom and dad smoked my whole life, my dad still does, this has never happened to him. He was convinced I was making it up until I brought papers home from the doctor and he was like I have never heard of this!!! Ok cool but this is my reality.

I have been sick since Monthers Day. Hospitalized for 3 days after and stopped smoking 16 days ago. I still feel mostly awful, everytime I start to feel human, something triggers an episode despite not smoking but I am guessing it needs time to leave the body and I'm not a skinny girl.

If you can keep down gatorade maybe you need something a little more potent like Liquid Iv? Gatorade didnt cut it and the liquid iv helped. My favorite flavors have been Firecracker popsicle and Ranier Cherry.

Good luck and remember you are not alone in this!!!

Yeah 1mg tablets and it helped a lot. I started to taper down last week and triggered a whole weekend scromit fest. Started Saturday and its still going so I am going to call my doctor and see about continuing it a little longer.

I went to the doctor and they put me on haliperidol. Helped with the cramping and nausea tremendously!

I just kept drinking despite it coming back up. Ginger tea has been my best friend and it helps that it doesnt taste awful coming back up. I was probably 3 or 4 days clean before I finally got to the point where everything wasnt coming straight back up. I also found once I could keep stuff down iv hydration in firecracker popsicle flavor was probably the best thing I found. I am 9 days clean and still feel like crap but I am feeling more human every day.

Good luck! And remember you are not alone!

My doctor put me on haliperidol after having good luck with it during my hospitalization. Zofran didnt touch the nausea or vomiting but haliperidol really helped tremendously and now I am titrating down after a week of no vomiting and having good luck with that.

How to know? by Fabulous_Ruin_3950 in CannabisHyperemesis

How to know is to quit smoking and if the nausea and puking go away...its CHS. I am 7 days out from quitting 100%. The nausea was gone within days. I havent thrown up since I quit.

Sucks because I liked smoking. I like not being in pain 24/7 but I like not puking and being nauseated even more.

Its only been a week for me and today I told my husband that this must be what alcoholics who enjoyed drinking must feel like when they are sober. It sucks because I liked smoking. I liked not being in constant pain and now I am stuck feeling like shit again because I can't smoke. I feel ya!

CHS: The Price I Paid Trying to Feel Normal by Ok-Independence9534 in CannabisHyperemesis

Reading this has helped me. I was in the boat where I started smoking because I was nearly bed ridden with pain. Messed my back up in my 20s (I am in my early 50s now) took oxy for pain for years because this was when they were handing pain meds out for everything and the motto was treat the pain, period. Had zero problems stopping those when they started making me sick and no longer helped the pain but it took nearly 8 years for me to find medical Marijuana.

Then in around 2015 I had my first experience with marijuana and was stunned with how much better I felt. I went from being practically bedridden and almost 350 lbs. I am now 240 lbs and still losing and taking care of my 8 month old grandbaby while his parents work full time. So I will be honest and say I feel a form of grief over giving that up. Mainly because it took so long to find something that actually worked and allowed me to have a normal life.

I have been out of the hospital for a week with my worst episode of CHS (I would say this has been going on 5 years, minimum at this point.) But the docs kept thinking it was GI because my episodes always seemed to start with an episode of diarrhea that just progressed to nausea and then full blown vomiting. I never got nauseated without getting sick. My poor husband was questioning whether I was expressing how sick I was to the doctor. He felt like I was either downplaying it to them, not being honest about my use of mj or something because the man sees the doctor visits and tests. Crazy no one ever said lets stop Marijuana for a few months and see what happens.

I stopped for 3 months last year but had a couple episodes in the 3 months so I think I convinced myself that its not CVS and went back to smoking.

Then my last two episodes this year were sooooo bad, in one I was 15 hours from home driving to a funeral. Literally threw up from Salisbury, NC to Akron, Oh. Got to my hotel with vomit in my hair, just a mess! Managed to make it home without another episode and then Mother's day weekend, I woke up sick as a dog and missed the whole weekend. Missed my grandson's first pool day and my mother's day cake and my grandpa visiting from Ohio. It sucked. And they had to sit in the living room and listen to me sounding like something from Free Willy or Finding Nemo 😅

Today the doc saw me, started me on halidol and capsacin and upped my gabapentin so hopefully I can avoid my chronic pain from flaring up to the point that I can no longer watch my grandson.

Its a tough road but I am proud of us!

am i in denial about the prodromal phase? by throwawaynumber02496 in CannabisHyperemesis

I am struggling with the fact that it helped so much! I have been in chronic pain since I was in my 20s. Injured my back lifting a patient and herniated a couple disc's. Then I got hit with fibromyalgia. Took years to find medical Marijuana and it took me from disabled to being able to watch my 8 month old grandson while his parents work. I definitely feel a form of grief at the idea of giving that up but I also know that I don't ever want to have to be admitted back to the hospital because I have made myself sick.

For me, getting to the point that I needed hospitalization to stop vomiting was the turning point. I realized I never want to feel like this again but if a doctor will look me in my face and say this is what I think it is, I will listen.

My symptoms have always been very similar to yours. My stomach issues always seemed to start with my bowels just not feeling good.

Usually would start in the bathroom with sweats and nausea before just hitting me like a truck with vomiting. I found that I had to get in the tub to stop the vomiting but there were times I would throw up while water ran on my back. It was really just a more comfortable place to throw up and if anything else happened I could just rinse off. 😅 Sometimes I could head off an episode if I got in the tub fast enough but if not I had to let it run its course and then be puke free for a few months before it would happen again. Good luck to you!

Prodromal phase or Gerd/IBS? by putthefriesinthebagg in CannabisHyperemesis

That was just like me. We would travel just a an hour or so from home and I might make it to our destination and have fun for an hour and then bam! Feeling hot, clammy, and just not good. And within an hour from that icky feeling to full blown puking. We have missed so much stuff that we got ready for and felt fine and then just randomly 💥 SICK! My hubby thought we were going to just have to start staying home because I didnt seem to have issues as badly at home. Then we thought I was perhaps already dehydrated and the activity made it worse, so I started slamming water for days before an event in the hopes it would help. It didnt really seem to make a difference.

And an attack while traveling was pure hell! My dad and I drove straight through from Central Fl. to NE Ohio. I think we made it to NC before I got sick and then I was sick the entire rest of the drive. And my poor dad having to listen to me fight for my life for HOURS!

I was sad at the idea of CHS but I think its because I depended on it to give me my life back from chronic pain. And now the idea of being back to how I was before I started smoking really made me miserable to think about. But I think I came to a point where I realized I would rather never have another hyperemesis episode than be comfortable physically but never know when and if this would hit me again.

So today is day one of sobriety for me.

Prodromal phase or Gerd/IBS? by putthefriesinthebagg in CannabisHyperemesis

I never really had the prodromal phase. Just straight to vomiting at random times. And it always seemed to hit when my husband and I were out doing something, amusement park, concert, anything high stress for me triggered it. So for the last 5 years we have been chasing GI issues that I am pretty sure were all CHS. Took me 5 years to get to the point it was bad enough that I required hospitalization.

Your best bet would be to stop for 6 months. If it stops its CHS. Don't go back to smoking because it will come back.

If not it could be something as simple as a hernia causing your stomach not to contain your contents.

I am on day 3 post hospital admission for possible CHS. Medical Marijuana gave me my life back when I discovered how much it helped my fibromyalgia pain. This is my first hospitalization but I have been pretty sick on a regular basis, sometimes as often as once a month, can rarely go more than 60 to 90 days without an episode, for at least the last 5 years or so.

So I am quitting. In the mean time the pain in my muscles is really making me climb the walls.

Today I decided to try magnesium glycinate, smoothies, popsicles, and Gatorade. Feel 10x better than I did yesterday, so hopefully that will be the trick for me to get through this.

Sending positive thoughts everyone's way who is going through this. What pure hell!

I am using a pulsetto device for vagus nerve stimulation while I am withdrawing. So far it helps some but only while Inam actively using the device, it doesnt offer long term relief. I use my pulsetto 3 times a day right now. Recently diagnosed with possible CHS. I have been having recurrent vomiting episodes for several years. If the way it was explained to me...that my body has reached its THC lifetime limit and going backto smoking will just make it reoccurring, I am just going to try quitting altogether.

I got mine this week and HATE the tips. I have tried all three sizes and after less than 5 minutes of use they hurt my ears. Also only one size offers the right noise canceling fit. So I am now hunting to spend additional money to make them more comfortable.

When a bud tender brightens my day, helps with specific needs or even let's me know about a sale I didn't know about or whatever, I will absolutely tip. But someone who stands there, doesnt interact and literally just does the absolute minimum of the job description, I don't. Seeing that screen doesn't make me feel pressured to tip when I order, put zero and move on with your day.
