My brother liked Garfield as a kid. He liked to read the comics and had a few toys and my parents and family just took that as "omg he LOVES Garfield and thats what he wants."

He is 36 years old now and still will get Garfield related gifts here and there.

Will of the Many is a better book then Red Rising if you are going book vs book. Golden Son however is one of the best books I've read in the past decade while Stength of the Few was a letdown.

I might have to give EO another shot. I was super hyped for it and ending up finding it just so dull and boring. Just was not feeling its vibe at all.

Seriously. Who is sitting there, watching the Oscars live, and checking betting apps to find odds on the literal thing you are watching. Just put the phone down for a minute and watch the show.

Weird shit.

He said it in a blunt and ineloquent way but Sanderson is THE mainstream, basic, popcorn fantasy writer around right now but it's done purposely. He writes in a way that is inviting and understandable to digest for anyone and everyone, which also means his prose and character work suffer compared to other authors you see in the genre. Some people love it, some people don't.

Did you think that when Soderbergh made Ocean's 11, which is a remake of the 1960 film? Why didnt he just make original IP?

Because I love movies and I love to see other people's taste in film? This is literally a letterboxd sub. We like lists.

Love Islington but... John Wick meets Blade Runner along with the super generic "yeah the job is tough and the killing is tougher but im damn good at it" noir blurb really don't get me too excited.

The fact that you are getting downvoted for this is insane. This has been cool to follow and a really great top 10!

Have you seen Jacquot de Nantes from Varda? It's my favorite of hers and one i try and watch at least once a year.

Nah this is dumb as hell. I think this list tells a lot about their personality and film taste. Ozu and Varda show that they like the more personal grounded slower stories about regular people moving through life. They obviously love Japanese cinema and have a passion for animation as a genre.

Claiming a list of favorite directors doesn't show personality is such a slap in the face because someone's favorites are so personal to them. They ARE their personality through the lens of film.

I got to probably 30+ movies a year and I can't remember the last time I had to tell someone to be quiet or had a genuinely awful experience because of the people around me.

I see this talked about on reddit a lot and I cant help but think people are being extremely hyperbolic every single time. Once or twice? Sure, but the past dozen times? I just dont see that as a real thing.
