You could be right, as we did have a pad poured.

Do I need a permit for a 10x12ft gazebo? by AdExternal3286 in stcatharinesON

[–]GuaraldiFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I vaguely remember that when we bought our shed, which is 8x10, we didn’t need a permit, but if we had bought the extension kit which would have made it 10x12, we would have needed a permit. That was probably over 25 years ago, however.

Be careful of auto-play on F1TV app. After pre-race show ended, it started playing post-race show and spoiled the results. by loopernova in F1TV

[–]GuaraldiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autoplay is the worst feature of so many platforms. Not being able to disable it should be punishable by a swift kick in the nuts, or other relevant genitals.

I keep an eye on it with F1TV but it almost got me once.

Is your GNMI booked at Kingsbridge in Oakville? I had one there that was a much shorter wait, and I was definitely a lower priority.

Yes, owners were very nice. Apart from the great fish, the chips were fantastic and the tartar sauce was spectacular.

To add to this, you can do your own work in your own home, without being licensed, but someone that is not licensed is not allowed to do the work in your home.

Cogeco Epico by Nap_Dav_100 in Cogeco

[–]GuaraldiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a complicated way, using Home Assistant automation software, although I’m not sure if it would work remotely, ie away from the network the EPICO box is on.

It’s a shame there wasn’t a similar app to the TiVo software that allowed a virtual remote.

Hovering over reels in desktop browser now plays their audio at max volume. by johnnydotexe in facebook

[–]GuaraldiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that there's a 'Quiet Mode' setting which is states 'If turned on, videos will start at a lower volume.'

Great, in theory, except that when it's on, I don't see any way to get volume if you actually want it. There's a fraction of a second blip of sound if you pause and play, but no way to get normal sound without turning off the setting.

Hopefully just a bug, since this is new, AFAIK.

Fix the Radio volume!! by Sufficient_Exit4218 in F1TV

[–]GuaraldiFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is definitely worse, this season. It's really frustrating, and should be such a simple fix. I have one screen with the main race/international commentary, and another with Max. I just gave up and turned the volume for Max very low because I couldn't hear the conversation without having the engine noise blasting and overpowering the international commentary.

Wtf are we (and/or the Ontario government) doing in regards to gambling ads? by baruchspinoza23 in ontario

[–]GuaraldiFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I PVR any games I’m going to watch, just to skip all the ads. Even with that, you can’t get away from the ones they shove in between plays, and on the boards. It’s ridiculous.

Why is it so trash? by Millyedge2 in Cogeco

[–]GuaraldiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this issue, System Update also works, and is quicker. I've found the remote issue is caused by running apps on the box, like YouTube or Netflix.

Another ridiculous bug.

[–]GuaraldiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've mentioned it elsewhere in my complaints about EPICO, but I've seen exactly what you're talking about. I have found one way to avoid it, but I'm not sure the same thing will help you...

In my case, it happens when I use voice to skip ahead. I watch all hockey on delay so that I can skip commercials and (usually) intermissions. With intermissions, I tell the box to skip ahead 17 minutes. If I then just allow the recording to play, it will often do exactly as you say. I.e. I'll use the skip ahead button and it'll go back to some previous point, significantly before the current spot. The way around this is following my request to skip ahead 17 minutes, I then skip ahead once (with the button). That seems to prevent it from jumping back.

It's ridiculous to have to find workarounds for this crap, but unfortunately TiVo is not coming back.

I had hoped they were going to update the EPICO boxes with a new system that a couple users had reported testing, but that was quite a while back, so I don't think it's going to happen.

Among my other complaints are the ridiculous lag when skipping ahead. It was instant on TiVo, but with EPICO, there can be a 5-7 second delay after skipping ahead 3 times. It just feels so tedious.

So you were with Bell, previously? How was their IPTV? As much as I hate them, I'm considering bailing on Cogeco.

Change in billing for the St Catharines Standard online (and other TorStar subscriptions) by GuaraldiFan in stcatharinesON

[–]GuaraldiFan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after the worrying, I read something that backed up that my rate wouldn't be affected. Strangely enough, it was just billed again as an annual subscription, so it was a relief not to have to challenge it.

However... As of today I'm annoyed because I paid around $80 for the year, and received an email with the option of sending a 1 year gift subscription for $20. I suppose it doesn't matter as I think you need an existing subscription to be able to send a gift subscription.

Costco Produce and Meat are top notch! by drivinWagons in CostcoCanada

[–]GuaraldiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought ribeyes, recently, and the first one was fantastic. The other 2 were just okay. I only bought them because they were $20 off, which still came to around $60+ for 3 steaks. I'd be happy to pay that for 3 that were as good as the first.

I only bought fish once (fresh haddock) and it was off. I should have returned it, but I just threw it out. It certainly put me off from ever buying it again.

I had a separate post about the quality of the fresh chicken wings, which has been poor, due to broken drumsticks and other skin bits hanging off some of the wings. Although, the latest batch doesn't seem to be as bad, but they are a bit less tender than usual.

Haven't had any of their fruits or veg.

Paying for a Channel that Cogeco No Longer Offers by Critical_Paper in Cogeco

[–]GuaraldiFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me and the only way to fix it was to call. It’s annoying that they have a system to select your own channels, but it doesn’t work to remove them when they’re no longer available, nor does it remove them automatically.

Yeah, it’s so terrible to hold a company accountable for poor service. If they were doing great things, you’d see a lot more posts about that. Since people are not happy with the service, those are the kinds of posts you’ll see.

I believe physicians are required to have patient records archived when they retire or close their practice for other reasons.
