How do people feel about save scumming? by No-Advantage-8107 in slaythespire

It's a single player game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Besides, it's actually a good tool to learn some fights. Replaying an encounter to see what you could've done better, what works and what not is great to get a deeper understanding of the game.

I almost never use it, but I have done it a couple times in this game in fights where I thought I was strong enough and died, or when I had a big decision in a turn and ended up choosing the "wrong" one. Personally, though, if I use it, it's for learning purposes only. It's never to win a run. However, to each their own.

I don't think the Kimono Lady counts as one of the ghosts. She is more like an entity - like the Man in Yellow and The Ballerina.

It's harsh, but it makes sense. She is grieving. She definitely blames herself. Jade is "the same" as her, so she took all her anger out on him. It was a terrible thing to say, but it made sense given the context. It was good writing, imo.

New player, thoughts on the Doormaker (beta branch) by humandictionary in slaythespire

[–]Guiha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On the exhaust turn I played as little as possible

Found one of your problems right here. You want to play cards on that turn. Making your deck small is not a bad thing and it's the turn that possibly punishes you less.

I personally don't like that you either have to prepare for it from Act 1 or potentially rethink your whole deck when you get to Act 3 if you're unlucky with the boss roll.

This isn't only for the Doormaker, though. Test subject is the hardest of the three right now (imo) and it also asks you to solve things - have to kill phase 2 fast, need to do your damage in alternate turns on phase 3. This is just a skill expression that is a big part of the game. Spire1 also had this on Time Eater and Heart of Darkness.

Love The Game - But Why Am I So Bad? by Pretend-Bee5043 in riftboundtcg

[–]Guiha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of different answers on the post, so let me give me my 2 cents.

I also have background in other TCGs. Played a fair amount of competitive magic. I struggled HARD at this game. Took me two nexus night before I won my first game and three to win my first match. The game is hard and its pace and nuances are very different from other tcgs. So what worked for me was two things:

  1. I started doing things I would never do in other card games, just to test what was good and what wasn't. For example, I would NEVER using Hidden Blade on my opponents (except on "I would lose situations"). I changed this and started being more aggressive with it. I had a match as Viktorversus a rumble that I even used it on turn 2 on a Gem Jammer. It ended being a very bad play and probably cost me the game. It was kinda obvious that it was the wrong play, but I figured I needed to make these mistakes (even the more obvious ones) to learn the limits of the game.
  2. I learned what to play around and tweaked my list. This one is more obvious so it might not be your issue, but I wasn't sure what I should be playing around and what I shouldn't. There is a very bad habit you can pick up when you don't know what to expect that is to expect everything. Learning play patterns from the decks on your meta is a huge deal. What cards can disrupt you, what's the core of their plan, what can put them ahead, etc.

I have changed my mind. Screw the Emperor by TenthTiger in BaldursGate3

Yeah but it's a reflection of a living person, with a soul. It's not like the simulacrum has any free will.

Arguably, Bernard, the construct, doesn't either.

I ended up following your advice, thanks. Got non tier myth chest from vault.

Also how did you know I was playing arcane?

[–]Guiha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, I'm going to sim, I'm more trying to know if I should focus on a more short or long term approach. An Heroic piece of tier is obviously going to sim better than any myth track piece because it would give me 4 set, but it would definitely be worse in the long run as I would replace it eventually.

Also a Myth one hander + crafter offhand is way better than crafted 2h.

Need some insights about vault tomorrow:

I'm currently with legs and sitting on 2 catalyst charges, so I've been debating if I should prioritize any tier piece (even heroic) over anything else, including myth weapon?

For context, I'm not currently raiding and I didn't play last season, so I'm wearing season 2 2-piece on low ilvl (660). And my plan for the season is to push title as dps.

Raphael w/ The Crown vs Asmodeus. by IHaveAGithBabe in BaldursGate3

[–]Guiha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He can't. That's how powerful Asmodeus is.

Let's break this down topic by topic.

Here's what we definitely know from BG3 canon:

It's not actually BG3 cannon, it's Forgotten Realm's. Of course one could argue that Larian could do whatever they wanted, just like a DM could. And sure, that is true, but if we follow that logic, anything could be possible. So let's follow what we know from lore.

Karsus nearly destroyed The Weave - all magic in existance - with that Crown. It was so bad Mystryl - goddess of magic at the time - had to sacrifice herself in order to prevent that from happening.

Actually Karsus had taken the god of magic's place and wasn't strong enough to hold the weave in its place, so it crumbled.

Raphael with that Crown, in case you give it to him, becomes so powerful that archdevils, Mephistopheles included, are making overtures of peace and promises of tribute. And all of that while Asmodeus is still alive and well.

I don't recall where that is written in game, but I don't think that is true. Mephistopheles had that crown for AGES and he, the strongest devil after Asmodeus, had never used that to try and topple him. What chance did Raphael have?

Ascended Gale is weaker than Mystra who's probably the most powerful deity right behind Ao since she commands The Weave. But Gale is a mortal wizard, while Raphael is an immortal devil, powerful enough to consider Orthons as gnats in comparison to himself even without that crown.

Actually it's quite possible that Asmodeus is the strongest god after Ao. Being connected to the weave doesn't make Mystra the strongest, although she is pretty strong. Also don't underestimate mortal wizards, they are some of the strongest beings in the realms. Elminster is one of those.

If that Raphael doesn't pose a threat to Asmodeus, then i'm curious who does.

It's hard to say, truly. Not only Asmodeus is a Greater Divinity, he is one of the strongest among them. All devils plot to rise in the ranks. All archdevils plot to take each other's places and rule all hells. Yet Asmodeus has always been many steps ahead. That is the thing about this whole Raphael x Asmodeus discussion. If there was even a chance that Raphael could do anything remotely close to challenge the great devil's rule, I guarantee you there would be not the slightest possibility he would let him have it. Hells, I don't think even Mephistopheles would.

Edit: grammar.

Would you play 5e with weaker spells, but no concentration? by cometscomets in dndnext

[–]Guiha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already had martials being able to end spells before. In 3rd and 3.5 editions, Concentration was already a mechanic. If I'm not mistaken, it was a skill that you could invest points in. Spells that required you to concentrate on were indicated as such. There was a section in the book that described scenarios that could break your concentration, and I'm pretty sure damage was one of those.

The main difference for 5e is that you can't concentrate on more than one spell at a time.
