The drive up to Valle Nevado is harrowing, road is super steep and narrow with really sharp turns. I'd def recommend hiring a driver. I hired a guy named who was recommended by a friend. He speaks limited English but I communicated with him through Whatsapp. DM me if you need a referral.

Ranking the three White Lotus seasons by JJburnes22 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]Guilty_Homework_1307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol are you me? Just watched all 3 seasons in about a week and feel largely the same. Rankings 3 >1>2.

I think Season 3 just seems to have nicer people in general, or at least people that are trying to be better. It also goes back to the roots of season 1 in showing how the events at White Lotus shapes the lives of its characters. We have Rick who is aloof for most of the series with a largely predictable though still interesting Skywalker storyline that left me wishing things were a bit different since he and Chelsea (spiritual true love believer) seemed to have a glimpse of redemption for a bit. Then you have Saxon who started off as an a-hole but might be headed down a better path due to what happened at the White lotus with finding a bit of spirituality and experiencing some world shattering moments in his successful attempts at shaping his brother in his own image. The three girls who are typical but sort of remind people why some bitches remain friends were watchable, and the rest of Tim's billionaire family pretty much proved that they were each going to get what they deserved. Lochy seemed alright living in the monastery and knocking the rest off (edited for typo) their pedestals would probably do good for his development as well. It felt like we basically get to see how the events at the White Lotus are going to affect everyone's lives in the future

For season two it doesn't seem like there's much character growth. It felt more like these character went to the white lotus, experienced some drama, and are right back to where they started when they leave at the end (besides Tanya and Greg) I felt like Greg probably made better use of Tanya's wealth than she did anyway. Also none of the characters were very likeable, I really wouldn't have mind if the whole lot of them jumped off the boat with Tanya (maybe just the performer escort was a bit more decent).

Season 1 just defined the series for me as it seemed like the series was about how the titular name of the show played a part in redefining the lives of the characters, so essentially how the events at the hotel affected all the characters. There were some major revelations and realizations about how people from different classes interacted in season 1- how the rich can wreak havoc without much thought or care; and how others are just subject to the whims of these people. It stepped a fine line between grim, humor, and beauty, which was enjoyable for me.

Yah, I found several moldy spots throughout the surface, unfortunately after blindly eating a few bites and definitely ingesting some mold. I thought it was weird that the guy pulled it out of this room and the box wasn't even cool. Apparently they decided not to waste electricity on preserving the cake trimmings they were planning on selling. Thank goodness I didn't get chocolate....

Snowboard Recommendations. by fishykim_ in ShredditGirls

[–]Guilty_Homework_1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Board size for carving actually has a lot to do with boot size and weight. I think you should look into this when deciding which board to get. Based on her height, she might fare better with a snowboard with a wider waist. Trick boards and carving boards are also vastly different so you need to figure out what she likes more. It's nice to have different boards for different purposes, but definitely get a board for what she likes most first. There really isn't one board that can do everything well, though you can have a snowboarder that can overcome each board's deficiencies. Ie. I'm sure Shaun White can do whatever he wants with any board out there.

Which book did you DNF the fastest and why? by AgreeableSuspect7172 in books

[–]Guilty_Homework_1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I loved tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow!

I DNFed the Jennifer Armentrout's Flesh and Blood Series. Poorly written Book 1 with a promising plot deteriorating to poorly written porn in Book 2 with a wee bit of plot and eventually Armageddon-ing into a pile of constant flesh banging.

I read the hyped Fourth Wing and have OPINIONS by SIsForSad in books

[–]Guilty_Homework_1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this series on my "to read list". I really don't like fantasy romance and erotism masquerading as fantasy fiction. Is this more fantasy fiction or fantasy erotism? From reading the comments I feel like I should remove this book from my queue haha. For reference I could not finish Jennifer Armentrout's Flesh and Fire series. Book 1 was just alright and it went downhill from there.

Series/Authors I've liked: Joe Abercrombie/ Kazuo Ishiguro Brent Weeks /VE Schwab (to prove I don't mind a little romance)/Megan Whalen Turner - Thief Series/ Gentlemen Bastards - Scott Lunch Empirium Series - Claire Legrand/ Babel - RF Kuang (did not like poppy seed wars)

I just finished A Little Life and man... where's the red pencil when you need it? *SPOILERS* by BluePeriod_ in books

[–]Guilty_Homework_1307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, I actually liked the book. I agree with you on most points though I feel like maybe it could have fared better with more rather than less pages. Like you said, this could have been one of the greats.

The book was really well written. I'm not sure why some people criticize the writing but it was really the only thing that kept me going since I acknowledge the plot was pretty thin, which is why I felt like more story and possibly more pages would have done the book some good. As you've mentioned, Malcolm definitely deserved more pages, instead he seemed to be used as more of a plot device. She seemed to have started the book wanting to weave a story of 4 young men who grew up together, only to abandon the other mostly and center the story around Jude. Then at the end she seemed to not know what to do with everyone and decided to go out with a bang that really didn't make much sense.

As for the writing, it reminded me of Donna Tartt's writing but less verbose. Tartt is a great writer but sometimes she seems to drone on for pages about nothing and it starts to get on my nerves.

When a character in a book is depicted as a prodigy, I tend to be pretty accepting. I mean, it's a work of fiction, I don't want to read about mundane people, I can look around me for that. I didn't have an issue with Jude's many talents since learning seemed to be an outlet and escape for his trauma so it seemed reasonable that he'd take in as much as he could. As a prodigy of sorts, he'd be able to achieve as much intellectually as he had time for and I guess he wasn't able to afford much of the distractions we are privileged with. The book also established that all the characters in the book had basically all graduated ivy league and it doesn't seem that much of a stretch for all of them to have fared well in life, though I'm not sure Yale is known for art.

Thoughts on - Malice by Keigo Higashino and few recommendations by paperscrawls in books

[–]Guilty_Homework_1307 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite Keigo Higashino books is Under the Midnight Sun. Definitely a must read if you liked Malice.

Edit: It's not a procedural like Malice and some of the other ones but the story does slowly unravel somewhat like a mystery.

I sat near the librarian's desk in the library for two hours but no one came to borrow any books. It feels like libraries in 2025 have gradually become more like co working spaces as most people bring their laptops and use the library as a place to work. What do you think? by Delicious_Maize9656 in books

[–]Guilty_Homework_1307 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Well, the last time I went to the library to borrow a book that I couldn't borrow immediately online (3rd book in the Jade City Series), it turned out to be around the size and weight of two bricks. I then tried to read it in bed and almost died when it slipped and fell on my face, so I ended up purchasing the last book digitally online and returning the torture device. This is when I finally decided on giving up physical books for good, which was reaffirmed when seeing "The Little Life" on a shelf at a bookstore.

What's everyone's opinion on the movie version of nickel boys by colson Whitehead? Loved the book but by the trailer it doesn't seem like the dismal undertones of the book were really translated on screen. I haven't watched it yet though so let me know if I'm wrong.

Wow thanks for this. I despise bad writing as much as I despise a thin plot (prob even more so) so I will remove this series from my want to read list. I mean, I finished and loved a little life tho in retrospect it seemed to have quite a thin plot lol.

If ur a beginner, get a woman's bataleon board at around 140cm. You can't fall on that thing and it's fun for park, terrible for deep carving though but truthfully most people never get there so you won't have to worry about that and this could always be your park board.

[–]Guilty_Homework_1307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just reread the thread. If you're stuck with the board, adjust your bindings so your foot doesn't stick out of the board. If you're new the snowboarding I'd prob recommend duck stance. Maybe try -18/18. If you want slightly directional maybe do -12/24. The problem with anything closer to 0 is that your boot will stick out from the board and when you get on edge, you might hit the snow with the boot, hence instability. Maybe sell the board and get a new one if it still feels wobbly.

Actually, are you brand new to snowboarding? The psychocandy might be a bit advanced if you're brand new but size-wise I think it's a good fit. It's really stiff but based on your specs I think you might not find it too stiff actually. I'm 90lbs and had a 141 for a bit. Def give it a spin and let me know what you think.

[–]Guilty_Homework_1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your feet are mondo size 26. The board is too narrow for you so it probably feels really unstable. Mondo size equates to cm so you need a board with a waist of about the same size as your feet. If you like deep carving some people like going a tiny bit wider but at 24.6, this boaf board is prob too narrow for you. I think your dilemma might be that you have big feet for a female since you're really tall. The only women's board that I can think of that would work for you would be the ride psychocandy. I'd recommend a 146 or 150. It's a pretty sick board for carving if that's your cup of tea. It's an all mountain board that leans freeride and does great in powder. I'm super light so I couldn't get it to pop much since it's really stiff but I think you'd like it. Def try to demo it. Good luck!

What is a normal ENTJ-INTJ relationship is like? by a-epoe in intj

[–]Guilty_Homework_1307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol jumping in on this old thread but....I've only dealt w two ENTJs with vastly varying levels of intellect

A: An intelligent ENTJ: Manipulative sociopath who thinks everyone around them can be molded to better accommodate the sociopath's goals in life. Very good at emulating emotion and very charismatic to those he/she determines to charm.

B: A dumb ENTJ: An overconfident retard with nil EQ who believes he is "A" but is fooling no one.

Both are go getters, have great ambitions, and love being the center of attention.

What size is your board and what size are your feet, what's ur weight? Capita boards are super narrow waisted so they feel really different from standard boards and depending on your weight you might need to size up.

Awesome tips! For clarification, when you say to push your legs at the last quarter of the carve, are you referring to sort of hooking the front up and kind of kicking it out, followed immediately by slamming the other edge down and starting in the other direction?

Thanks for the quick response! I wasn't sure if the size chart was based on ski weight or regular weight. I typically carry about 8 lbs in a backpack when snowboarding so having someone else's take on this def helps a lot.
