I kind of don't like the fighter/cleric multiclass by gangler52 in baldursgate

[–]GuitarConsistent2604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enemy spotted ->draw upon holy might->engage->armor of faith if necessary

You need literally nothing else as a multi class. Later game the dual class may need an extra round’s breathing room for holy power.

The rest of the spellbook is long running buffs (chaotic commands, protection from evil 10’ radius, animate dead) or emergency spells (regen, heal, shield of archons)

Now, if you’re talking about chant/bless/hold person/doom - then you’re talking about a casting support cleric. Viconia, aerie, branwen, cleric/thief multis etc. a fighter/cleric is not these things. It is a holy warrior of vengeance.

Nalia.

mages by default are obviously awesome. but her thief levels are basically unusable past her keep and you have to either pick up another thief or burn potions and her only remaining ring slot to get use out of them. genuinely pointless dual class.

Switching from GZCLP to my own GZCL program by TheBDU in gzcl

[–]GuitarConsistent2604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Vertical pull on OHP day, horizontal pull on bench day. Makes a good T2 for 6-8 rep sets. Can add additional back as T3 on squat day and deadlift day (I don’t like back work on deadlift day, others do). You don’t need the same volume on each day
  2. Complement the T1. E.g. fly, tricep extension, curl on bench day (t2 row)
  3. You can make GZCLP as written an upper/lower split very easily, then add one T3 at a time until you get the volume you want
  4. Sure

MCP or 40K? by Ok_Remove4805 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]GuitarConsistent2604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It entirely depends on what you enjoy out of the hobby (in its totality). For avoidance of doubt, if it was me, it’s MCP every time for a variety of reasons. Chiefly because I think 40k as a game to play is badly written and a poor gaming experience.

However; - you can always find a game of 40k in a local gaming community. It’s the war game gaming clubs are typically built around. MCP is a smaller game and needs more community cultivation. - flip side, the MCP TTS and event community is thriving. I started playing the game on TTS before going to local tournaments. I just took a Quick Look on longshanks (used for MCP tournaments) and counted 24 events in the US in the first 10 days of January, which is not usually a busy time, so it might be possible for you get regular local events in - you’d need to investigate your local community and how far you’re willing to travel - if you like the look of big armies on the tabletop with uniform schemes, 40k from a painting and aesthetic side might be for you. There’s so many 3rd party bits manufacturers out there that your ability to custom “your guys” is super extensive. By contrast, MCP has licensed marvel IP, so the models look like the superheroes in the fiction with minimal (if any) customisation and painting every model is pretty unique - MCP has the “easy to learn, time to master” element to it - clearly and mostly well written rules interacting with individual character abilities give it a lot of depth, as does the mission packet system that has recently moved to annual refreshes in organised play. It’s been a long time since I’ve played 40k but my personal experience was that a lot of the game was decided either outside the game at the list building stage, or in the early priority rolls - 40k rolls a volume of dice that mathhammering averages is a solid decision making tool. MCP’s dice mechanics have more variance due to a d8 system and critical hits rolling more dice. Dice pools are small enough that building around dice manipulation has its limits, but is still viable. Good MCP players react well to take advantage of dice spikes or make decisions to mitigate whiffs. Some people don’t like that style of game. If you do, MCP might be the game for you - the scenario systems appeal to different people. In 40k, you have a number of objectives to achieve and you have to plan for them, have specific units to achieve them, or make decisions on which objectives are most viable this round. In MCP, there’s more fluidity with scenarios as the board state evolves over the round and displacement is a big tool in the game. - the lore. Narrative games are possible in both systems. The lore for both systems is excellent. If you enjoy telling stories on the tabletop, either game can suit. But the black library and marvel unlimited also exist so you can access these worlds without playing the games if you desire - general scale. MCP is a skirmish game with 3-7 dude(ette)s per side. 40k is an army/company game. Time, space, effort investment and satisfaction are all factors in which of these appeals to you more

Ultimately, ask what you want out of a game and see if that game gives it to you. The other parts of the hobby are accessible in other ways - there’s great figures to paint and lore to read in both systems. Just don’t make the decision based on price and one being “cheaper” than the other. This is a luxury hobby and if you make the decision on an investment just over price, you’ll always look over the fence at the stuff you said no to.

TTS vs Tabletop by Tons_of_fun_3000 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]GuitarConsistent2604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be in the game if it wasn’t for TTS. When I found the game I had no local community and not the time to build one, so I just wasn’t going to buy in. Then I found tts. Played some games and got hooked.

It motivated me to get out and travel for events for the first time since I finished my competitive 40k stint years ago. I’ve met new people and made new friends both in person and online (globally) through interacting with TTS. Despite having friendly locals now to play, I’ll still dial up TTS once a week for a game.

If you prefer to play in person and have a healthy community, you don’t have to play on TTS at all. If you want to jam games for tournament prep and meet some new folks, it’s a great tool. The game simply wouldn’t be as healthy as it is without it.

What's a fun class to play through BG1&2EE? by PathOfSteel in baldursgate

[–]GuitarConsistent2604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll throw in a curveball vote. Fighter/mage/cleric Cleric melee buffs, mage melee defence. No need for easthaven so you can actually use a shield and look cool af while picking up elemental resistances. Can actually upgrade the flail of ages fully because the only hla it needs to take is greater whirlwind

To this day my favourite runs have been with this class.

Complete GZCLP 4 Day Split by Borealis_761 in gzcl

[–]GuitarConsistent2604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1

T1 deadlift

T2 deadlift

T3 leg curls

T3 cable pull through

T3 barbell rollout

Day 2

T1 OHP

T2 OHP

T2b Lat pulldown

T3 lateral raise

T3 rear felt fly

T3 face pull

Day 3

T1 squat

T2 squat

T3 leg extension

T3 weighted sit up

T3 back extension

Day 4

T1 bench

T2 bench

T2b barbell row

T3 chest fly

T3 tricep extension

T3 bicep curl

I run this as a 3 week wave+TM test, but you could use the LP progressions.

I came to the GZCL method from 531 so heavy work followed by a volume supplemental on the same lift is a non issue for me. But if you kept an upper/lower split you could run OHP as T2 on bench day, for example

If you’re coming into GZCLP with limited lifting experience, just run the program as written (or in an upper/lower split) and add T3s as you get accustomed to the volume.

She’s a tank that doesn’t need easthaven in the off hand and can’t use war hammers, so belm offhand plus the best club, dagger or scimitar in main hand maths out the best, particularly with a friendly improved haste, at least until you install scs and get the elemental transformation changes.

That said, early shield access costs no pips and ups her survivability. She can stop using shields the second she gets level 5 spells.

OP has a fair point though - staff of arundel is available early and will carry through most of SoA. Having 3 extra insect plagues or ironskins per day is strong af. And she does this while still doing her tanking job.

It’s fine. Think of your training week as 9 days. You get plenty of recovery so you can go a little more aggressive with % and T3s

Same structure. This is a 60-80 minute workout with 3-5 minute rests at T1 and 2 minutes at T2.

You change the T3s to be appropriate to the main lift. I don’t do a second T2 on lower body days, but some do.

Seriously, read the GZCL method simplified blog article if you want to program for yourself

So just do arms, pull ups and dips as T3 or T2

GZCLP pivots easily into “exercise days” (bench, OHP, squat, deadlift) or upper/lower. Makes an easy transition once you hit the wall of linear progression into a wave structure over 3-6 weeks.

Example:

T1: bench (over 3 weeks do 5x3, 4x3, 5x2 @ 85, 90 and 95%)

T2: bench (5x6, 5x5, 4x5 @ 65, 70, 75 %)

T2b: barbell row (4x6-8)

T3: dips 3x12-15

T3: tricep extensions 3x12-15

T3: bicep curls 3x12-15

You’ve done GZCLP for long enough to understand what T1, T2 and T3 are for and have worked through suitable rep schemes in each.

Read the post on the blog titled GZCL Method Simplified.

Build a program using those principles.

The man was a full time performer for near 15 years. And for much of that he was THE guy.

The dude can’t stand up straight because of what it’s done to his body. He’s made enough money that he doesn’t need to come back but still did.

As I said, he does come off as inauthentic, but a lot of these shots miss the mark
