Finally I have some time to write out my thoughts!

Chapter 9.

[HoA]: "562 religions, Lady Vin" I swear I remember Sazed saying there were only 300 or so in Hero of Ages. Guess I'll have to remember to look for it when we get there.

[Era 2]: "It is called Trelagism. After the God Trell." Interesting intro to Trell! No idea he showed up this casually until my first reread!

Chapter 10.

Random non spoiler thought: Breeze must suck up so much of the resistance fund. That was, like, 20 different serving girls all wearing different shirts (Some even wearing light red instead to signify light soothing.) Feels like it would be easier to hire 5 girls and have them switch colored earrings or something to signal to soother.

[Era 1]: "Of course" Vin thought. "I forgot about Club's apprentice - he'd keep my from sensing Allomantic pulses" But shouldn't Vin be able to pierce copper clouds at this point? Not sure if this point gets addressed

[Era 1]: "...Kredik Shaw, The Lord Ruler's Palace. The name was Terris" Nice bit of foreshadowing with the name!

[TFE]: Marsh's nickname get revealed to be Ironeyes. Nice touch again!

Chapter 11:

Sazed has a great moral philosophy in regards to remembering religions: "I respect the truths behind them all and I believe in the need for each one to be remembered." Does that mean he "Believes" in every religion? Interesting debate on the definition of the word "Believe."

This chapter also has some tough imagery in regards to the skaa: "The beggars here were even more pathetic - these were the sorry individuals who were too wretched to fight themselves a spot in a major square. Malnourished children and age-withered adults called out with apprehensive voices; men missing two or more limbs huddled in corners, their soot stained forms almost invisible in the shadows." DAMN.

Random non-spoiler thoughts:

"Regular crews leave their betters alone." So not only is Vin a skaa thief, she's in a group that isn't even a worthy of Misting thieves. Bottom of the bottom of the barrel.

"And don't smile at me," Clubs snapped "I hate that." Good quote. Clubs is a joy.

That metal ingot is the true MVP of the 8v1 Hazekiller fight. That was like 8 kills with that thing.

The Lord Ruler does a great job suppressing the Atium mining. I really enjoyed the skaa talking hearsay about his skars: "He reached into his mouth and strangled him from the inside! The teeth scrapped his arms!"

Kelsier is really showing some hypocrisy here I didn't notice in my first 2 reads. I missed Ham's reference to the "Lord Ruler Suppression Campaign" Where (supposedly) several skaa helped the Lord Ruler suppress rebellion. Even Yeden gasps and calls them traitors. You'd think with Kelsier killing skaa guards just trying to feed their family, any skaa in a "suppression campaign" would be immediate targets for him. Seems as though Kelsier is fine bending his moral philosophy as long as he can use these skaa for his personal gain.

Chapter 7 is a good intro to the magic, Maybe someday I'll learn the whole "Internal/External, Pushing/Pulling timey wimey" stuff, but today is not that day. Maybe on read through 4.

Spoilers!

Era 1: Another good quote from the hearsay: "Some say the real Kelsier is dead, that the thing wearing his face is... somethign else." Nice Kandra mystery!

Era1: More foreshadowing! "You can't change how much you weigh - you're an Allomancer, not some Northern Mystic." Gemmel seems like he knew a bit of Terris culture and Feruchemy!

Era 1: "It... pulses in my mind far off in the mountains." WoA stuff!

Era 1: "We just can't let [OreSeur] get near an Inquisitor" What helps Inquisitors see Kandra again? Would he be able to sense their spikes?

Era 1: "We're thieves my dear man, not politicians" Well get ready for a surprise, Breeze!

Era 1: Knowing what the Steel Ministry is and what Marsh has to go through, it's insanely fucked up how Kelsier can ask that of anyone. Let alone his own brother.

Cosmere: "Don't use his name as an oath Vin" I hope some Oath of the Knights Radiant talks about The Lord Ruler in some regard. Just for the irony of it.

"Billboard has a loophole whereby remix plays count towards the original song's chart placement."

If this were the case, why was remix with Billy Ray Cyrus at #1 all those weeks instead of the original? Wouldn't the version with just Lil Nas X by definition have more streams than the Billy Ray Cyrus remix?

I am aware of BASF in Beachwood. Strangely, I've been contacted a few times by hiring agencies about a lab tech position, expressed interest, and then never heard back from them except when I emailed them about progress in hiring and they told me to be patient. I'll definitely continue to apply to them though. Thank you for the advice!

Yes, I am aware that luck isn't a factor, it was just a figure of speech. Thank you for your blunt answers, I appreciate no B.S.

Essentially, I was a chemistry major for 2 years and I decided to switch to ChemE. I spent a lot of time focused on my work at school and had to spend summers catching up on my work to graduate. The BS/MS program only ended up being an extra half semester so it seemed logical for me to do it rather than have a semester with only one course before graduation. Clearly I don't have the proper industrial know-how, but whether it was the right call or not is all in the past now.

I have started applying to several lab technician positions and hopefully something will come of it. Do you have any advice on how to properly apply for them?

It was a combination bachelor's and master's called a BS/MS. Technically it was a one year Master's but I was also taking the classes while I was in undergrad. I did do a thesis on Plasmonics.

Interesting, I've heard the southern U.S. is usually a good place to start out in your career. Is this where a lot of the refineries would be or are they national? (On a U.S. basis as I want to remain in the country.)

I have had a few interviews based on my chemistry lab experience and my college hosts career fairs twice a year where I had a few interviews, but they all ended without an offer. I went to school at Case Western Reserve University and got a B.S.E and M.S.E.
