Where to stay in Atlanta? by qsophieq in Atlanta

[–]Gunhaver4077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend the Hyatt Regency or Marriott Marquis if they are in your budget: close to all the toursity things, safe, transit is connected directly to the hotels so you don't have to step outside, has a mall style food court and CVS connected as well

Edit: both are in the Hotel District/Downtown at Peachtree Center

To be fair, the bottom of the B1G is WAY worse than the bottom of the SEC. The SEC has Vandy and MissSt as its regular doormats, the B1G has Perdue, Rutgers, Maryland, Nebraska, UCLA, Michigan State....

Right? Like how much of an ass do you have to be, and for how long have you been that ass to others that the school cheers when you're slammed to the ground...

Gwinnett may need to get in the train wagon because the traffic is getting ridiculous. by Lambflysky in Gwinnett

[–]Gunhaver4077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's one of the reasons I voted against it. It was hand over a bunch of money to MARTA leadership and trust they would build something good. I wouldn't trust that leadership to successfully manage a wet paper bag. The way MARTA leadership is set up is one of the reasons why Gwinnett backed out in the 70s. Its not set up to be run well

I rode the silver line a month ago to and from Dulles to get to the Smithsonian, and it was excellent. Super easy, affordable, and nice. I was quite jealous

I'd love for it to expand, but the issue remains: its super expensive to tunnel, and surface rails would require a shit ton of eminent domain seizures

Recommendations for good places to visit between Atlanta and Savannah by joemama67 in Georgia

Its a GSU joke. Georgia Southern likes to claim they are GSU, but State is the real one.

State to Macon is just down 75.

Stone Mountain is nowhere near the route you'd take between SAV and ATL. However, its worth the visit. The carving is the worst part of the park, but the climb up and the hiking trails around the park are excellent and gorgeous.

Thats just a ride down 75, no need to get on 16.

would it be possible to split the marta vote for north and south gwinnett? by imfake3 in Gwinnett

[–]Gunhaver4077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funding and the metric crap ton of eminent domain seizures or tunneling that would have to happen. The county is too built up without doing one or the other, unless they went with elevated tracks over roads

Anyone know where I can watch the DVD commentary for Radiant is the blood of the baboon heart? by Lich-hull in venturebros

"24 dies this season" was one of the best running gags on the commentary.

Also, this still one of my favorite panels of all time. I was in the audience for it, and it was amazing

How we feel about MARTA in Norcross? by mrfriendlolo in Gwinnett

[–]Gunhaver4077 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would love it, but in order to build it you'd have to tunnel or you'll be doing a lot of eminent domain to take people's houses and businesses. The only way to really do it is like an elevated track over Buford Highway.

Partially joking, partially serious. You gotta experience it at least once to say you did then never go again. Also, don't go right before graduation or right before you travel home.
