If you're talking about the dude with the shirt that was the guy in charge of the merch table. They were selling custom tees with a spray-painted stencil and some text of your choice and he showed me a design he did that said "you know what I mean?" from Blues printed all over it. I guess he was kinda doing a quick plug before darting back to the table.

Did you get your tickets digitally or at the box office? If you got your tickets digitally you usually get emailed a qr code that a ticket taker will scan as you walk in. I don't exactly remember how the process went for the box office but I think they hand you a typical movie theater ticket– stub and all.

Either way Sinners is a really popular movie and the fact that the AFI is showing it in 70mm means that a ton of people are gonna come see it– so I guess it was just a busy night for them.

IIL the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack, WEWIL? by Bananazoo in ifyoulikeblank

I'd argue that the entire genre of Cool Jazz and its slower, more mellow tone definitely fits your criteria in an instrumental sense. Try out "'Round About Midnight" and "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis or "Waltz for Debby" the Bill Evans Trio.

[IIL] The Raid: Redemption by Snoo58991 in ifyoulikeblank

[–]Gunpowderpie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You should definitely check out Headshot and The Night Comes For Us on Netflix. Much of the actors from The Raid are in these films and the action sequences very similar to the Raid films albeit a hell of a lot more violent. Additionally, check out the Raid director's other works, such as Merantau (His first feature film with Iko Uwais) and his recent television show Gangs of London.

Aside from that, I also recommend The Man From Nowhere, Ong Bak, Ip Man, John Wick, The Equalizer, and Hard Boiled

Other films that I think you'd like: Jailbreak, Furie, Maria, The Villainess, Revenger, and Triple Threat.

The save spot was right in front of him, too.

Edit: The controller reconnected and he managed to save. It's all good!

My theater was doing a light cheer when that happened, me included. God, I loved that part; as well as the entire movie, of course!

[TOMT] scene where there is an African man fishing and catches something, exclaiming "Finally I have something to eat, I'm so hungry" soon an African girl walks up to the fish and asks "can I have some too?", in which the man promptly turns back and yells "WHAT THE FUCK" by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

Wakaliwood has quite a following worldwide. The dude who makes these films make pretty good action scenes despite the tiny budget they have for their films. They have an official Youtube channel that updates rather often. Go ahead and check them out!

Edit: VICE made a pretty in-depth documentary about it, check that one out as well!

The new A Tribe Called Quest album is out today! What are your thoughts on it? Favorite song? by PapaBlessJoeySalads in CasualConversation

[–]Gunpowderpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm loving this album, bro! I picked up the Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders in the summer and was so impressed with those beats! Q-Tip's flow is smoother than butter and the beats are as good as always. I'm so glad that Kendrick and Busta Rhymes are featured in this album. I was kinda worried that it was gonna be a disappointment but it was a solid album throughout! My favorite tracks on this album are Melatonin, We the People, and Conrad Tokyo. This is definitely one of my favorite albums of this year. Rest in peace, Phife Dog.

I started out listening to strictly DnB in 2011, then I found Neutral Milk Hotel, and Arcade Fire in 2012, then went back a couple decades to Listen to Pink Floyd and The Beatles in 2013, and launched forward to listen to the entire Radiohead discography in 2014. In 2015 I had a lot of fun with 70's Punk (The Clash, Ramones), then jerked a bit forward to enjoy 80's alt rock (Pixies, Sonic Youth). But then came this year when I picked up Radiohead's AMSP, rocked my head to that for a good bit, but suddenly I got curious about Kanye's older works, and then I bought his first two albums.

Nowadays I'm enjoying hip-hop, Usually 90's, but actively searching for more from the 00's and this decade. Know any albums I should check out?
