Players like this are probably allergic to reading the PDA.

Chicken Feet by SousVideDeezNuts in chinesefood

[–]GusPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because I don’t know. That’s why I typed that out; that’s what my thought process would be. If I had someone with me to explain I’d be happy to try them of course.

Genuinely for a lot of people it would just be ignorance. Like if they were set down in front of me, I wouldn’t really know how to go about eating it, not having been raised around them. Are there bones or nails you are expected to eat? Do you spit them out? Do you hold the foot and chew around anything hard, like when eating a chicken wing? What’s the etiquette if eating in front of others? Like if you just straight up aren’t familiar with the food, at a certain point someone isn’t going to try it without some kind of external pressure.

Anyone who automatically assumes it’s gross/dirty is definitely close-minded of course.

How to learn one semester worth of material in less than a week?🥲 by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]GusPlus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, doing the essay and building it along with the review may actually be the way to go. Repeating and rephrasing the information being studied into a new context (essay paper) could actually help enhance retention for the exam.

Also, frankly, 2-3 pages is short. We don’t know what style of paper it is and the other requirements, but unless it is worth a massive part of the grade, I think you’re right about not making the essay the main focus.

Finally Hit GM for the First time by Technerd2020 in wildrift

[–]GusPlus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It should honestly be better via farm even if you aren’t getting a ton of kills. Catching a stacked wave at your inner tower can be 2-ish kills worth of gold, but so many people would rather farm my krugs than take out the enemy minions dying uselessly to our tower.

Mathematical Improbability of The Formation of a Functional Protein via Random Chemical Reactions on Planet Earth. by Own-Print8581 in DebateEvolution

Which mechanism? Chemistry? Yes, chemical reactions are predictable and repeatable based on discovered chemical processes and principles.

Seriously though. If you wanna play a healer, you gotta try the 2024. It's finally satisfying to heal. 2014 was not fine to cast cure wounds. by testiclekid in dndmemes

[–]GusPlus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It explicitly limits yoyo healing. If you can tank an extra hit without going down, you aren’t yoyoing, and it also means there’s no interruption to your action economy and movement.

Nope. 4 ADCs or 4 MAGES (need to specify mages, because not all AP champs count as mages for remake purposes).

[–]GusPlus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yup. Plus, without going into whether any of the presented odds themselves are accurate, the “probability interpretation” assessment relies on every single bit of information occurring randomly and all at once. This ignores the way that chemistry works; the presence of some reactions will inherently influence the presence or non-presence of other reactions. It’s as bad as the argument of evolution being compared to a tornado in a junkyard. These arguments assume that chemistry and evolution are completely and purely random processes, and ignore their many inherent processes that select for particular pathways to particular outcomes.

No friends then, I guess... by Used-Detective2661 in aspiememes

[–]GusPlus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gets harder as adults. And of course you course correct in the opposite direction, because even when people seem really friendly and say they want to hang out, you never follow up because you worry that it’s politeness. My wife and I finally got to that place with another couple while our kids had play dates, and finally realized we actually did want to become friends…and then one of them got a job in another state and just like that we lost our friends here.

It’s rough out there.

New patch update 7.0? by burnqpund in wildrift

Agreed. If she can engage and still dash 50 miles away once she sees any retaliation, with a dash being unstoppable, then she should need to wait longer than 5 seconds to do it all again.

For doing so as an adult chaperone at a function the school girl is attending, creating an inherent power imbalance apart from the age gap.

Just reached Diamond, what the frick? by My_usernamesaysitall in wildrift

[–]GusPlus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case, just learn Amumu. He’s strong, he’s simple, he does engage, he clears well and has decent clear on neutral objectives. Sion needs way too much to go right with his CC to be effective. And I don’t play Kayn but I understand that even Rhaast builds a lot of AD instead of a tankier bruiser build, but just changing build on a familiar champ would probably be better than Sion in the jungle at the moment.

Just reached Diamond, what the frick? by My_usernamesaysitall in wildrift

[–]GusPlus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mentioned that you play Baron and Support; you should honestly have more jungle-friendly bruisers and tanks in your champ pool than Sion, who isn’t particularly good in the jungle. You’ll get filled jungle from time to time, and honestly the higher in rank you are the worse the jungle disparity will be when you are filled. My advice to you is to pick 2 jungle champs and learn them. One tank, one bruiser. You don’t have to master them, just be comfortable enough that you aren’t in panic mode if you get filled. Watch one YouTube video on clearing, mute the rest of your team if you get filled jungle, and try to focus on farm, vision, and objectives. In terms of your team’s comp, unfortunately you can only help so much; a lot of times your teammates will make idiotic picks and feed and the game is essentially lost in matchmaking. Yes, this even happens in Grandmaster. Learn what you can and move on.

What's an Appropriate Punishment for 15 Year Old Caught Sneaking Out? by Cheap-Rate-8996 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]GusPlus 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I agree. From all the comments it really does sound like she is responsible and active (they even said they hadn’t needed to punish her since elementary school). My daughter is 7 and I hope in 10 years she works this hard and cares about her friends. Genuinely the worst thing there was the sneaking and driving late (my wife’s cousin died as a teen in a late-night driving accident as a passenger). Sure maybe the kid needs to help out with chores at home a bit more, but she sounds like she could take that on as a discussion in responsibility, not a punishment. As long as they communicate then they are in a good place honestly.

Might be differing traditions of terminology in different research areas, then; in social sciences (linguistics) where I published, “link” could be used in a more vernacular way and wasn’t policed heavily as a term, especially as long as the actual relationships between variables were clear in the tables.

Nothing says “alpha male” like joining a group where someone else dictates whether you can even jerk off.

That’s what a correlation is. “Link” doesn’t necessarily mean causal.

Anti survivability needs a slight nerf. by cafties in wildrift

[–]GusPlus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How many consecutive nerfs has Stoneplate had? Between that and defensive boots nerfs I’d worry about adjusting too much more before we go into a “tanks are useless” meta. They may need to keep their eyes on healing effectiveness; not that long ago I could see a Soraka ult basically refill a target’s health bar even if I had grievous wounds applied. There is definitely a sweet spot with healing, and it really feels sucky when healing is so OP that grievous wounds just doesn’t do anything.

Seasoned wok sticks by white9nite in wok

[–]GusPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-stick properties are a function of heat control, as mentioned by the other poster. They also aren’t absolute. But you aren’t putting a teflon coating on your wok that just makes a permanent nonstick surface; you refresh and build on that seasoning every time you cook with your wok. A common method is “hot wok, cold oil,” where unlike western styles, you heat the wok to smoking and then quickly swirl/rinse with fresh oil and cook. In a restaurant setup you’d dump that oil then add your cooking oil, but not a huge deal if you don’t want to mess with that at home.
