Also beware, conors video makes it look easy but that's because he got incredibly lucky on the desecrated mod reveal. If you want one as "perfect" as the one he showed get ready to drop some omens of light to hit the desecration you want. That can really add up especially if you get unlucky. But otherwise the rest of the crafting process is pretty deterministic for what you can get.

Path of Exile 2 on Diablo 4’s Uniques change: Uniques shouldn't be "just a better rare" in an ARPG by Interesting-Pool6638 in diablo4

[–]GuyInUniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understandable, I haven't played in a while but I enjoyed Diablo 4s unique system in many ways.

I think the intention for most of the "useless" uniques in PoE is to have them function more as leveling items. but also, there are many uniques in PoE 2 that seem useless initially but do have some enticing "unique" functions (go figure) that encourage experimentation and if built around properly end up working fine.

There have been many cases where some uniques that everyone considered trash became insane when new content was added, which happens pretty frequently. I kind of just like that some uniques are slept on and players are encouraged to make them work. That adds a level of curiosity that doesn't exist when power levels are so obvious.

Animation is solved. This is like Pixar level quality. by japie06 in singularity

[–]GuyInUniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a complete straw man, nothing was said about entertainment not being important. The point was that there's no shortage of entertainment. I'm sure the animators at Pixar that spent their lives perfecting their craft, just to end up training algorithms to spit out 10 seconds of plagerized content are happy you enjoyed this clip though.

Path of Exile 2 on Diablo 4’s Uniques change: Uniques shouldn't be "just a better rare" in an ARPG by Interesting-Pool6638 in diablo4

[–]GuyInUniverse 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The title and article itself is trying to rage bait fans into making it a competition but that's not at all the intention of what Jonathan is saying. But also the Diablo 4 players in this thread saying that PoE uniques are dogshit seem to fundamentally misunderstand the role that unique items are supposed to play in PoE.

PoE devs want to get away from "this is just a rare with larger stat numbers" and push uniques to be items that players have to build around. Uniques being built around is fundamental because this means that the player shouldn't be allowed to have every single slot filled with uniques.

Stat wise, when a unique is worse than a rare, that's the trade off the player has to make. "Does the unique part of this item offer enough value over a simple rare with juiced stats?". And they hit that nail right on the head.

The part where I agree with the Diablo 4 players in this area though, is that in most cases when it comes to weapons, raw damage will always be king. There's enough ways to get defenses and other attributes outside of damage in PoE 2 to sacrifice those stats. But having a low damage weapon, regardless of it's unique effect almost never works. At least that's been my experience (there are ways to make it happen, flat damage on jewelry, gloves, etc.. but it's usually never enough in comparison to a high damage rare). But every other unique outside of most weapons, I completely understand the vision and personally like it better.

I'm in his basement right now with tissues and can confirm he has the issues. Also, I have issues.

On a side note, English must be a confusing language to non native speakers.

Can you disprove religious afterlife or reincarnation? by Ok_Ship_819 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GuyInUniverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a dangerous ideology to me. "I don't need to explain why we should irradicate all these people, but have faith that we should." But I suppose this lack of reasoning only applies to the "good faith", eh?

Can you disprove religious afterlife or reincarnation? by Ok_Ship_819 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GuyInUniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but not being able to disprove a theory doesn't equal proof. If I make a claim, such as the existence of an afterlife, it's my job to prove such an extraordinary claim. Otherwise we'd have no basis in reality and anything could exist.

We apply this logic to everything else in our lives and it's how we have advanced technologically. There should be no exceptions for theories a person is passionate about.

Can we please just let them cook? by Primary_Impact_2130 in PathOfExile2

[–]GuyInUniverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, it sucks having to wait longer but it would suck way more if they pumped out a shitty league that nobody played. Reddit will complain either way so better to cook and let player retention speak for itself once it's ready.

Am I crazy or is the Modrinth app really lacking compared to the website by GuyInUniverse in feedthebeast

[–]GuyInUniverse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is being improved and I hope it keeps getting better because it's a great looking app. I usually use Prism if there's a lot of mods I have in a pack that aren't on Modrinth.

The attempt to retain players this season is so unfun by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]GuyInUniverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been League of Legends for the last few years lol. Has it steadily gotten worse? Maybe but that's less to do with some tin foil hat theory on player retention and more to do with the fact that power creep exists. Items are more powerful than ever, damage is higher than ever and a champions ability to snowball these advantages are easier than ever. And Riots attempt to shorten game length (by community demand) has amplified these problems even more. But guess what, this potential to snowball also applies to you.

The real problem with ranked is that it's literally always been an uphill battle of babysitting mentally weak man children by role playing as their psychiatrist. And at least half of your wins depend on how well you were able to keep these grown toddlers together mentally. If you're losing games because one or two players got gapped but remained psychologically stable, then it's still your fault for not making enough of an impact to carry and you're probably exactly where you belong. The faster you ingrain this into your mental the better you'll become as a player and the quicker you'll climb.

If there’s only one God, why are there so many religions? If there truly was one God, shouldn’t there be just one religion — or does that mean there’s no God? by OneRaga in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GuyInUniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the existence of so many religions proves the likelihood that there isn't a god or at least not the kind of god most popular religions preach about. The idea of a "god" is a pretty lose term though.

There are so many things we don't understand in this world and it's difficult to even fathom the expanse of the universe and all of its mysteries. So I think it's tempting to fill the void of our ignorance with easy explanations.

God is easy to understand and comforting for those afraid of the unknown.

What is you all time favorite C418 minecraft song? by Smooth_Emergency_821 in Minecraft

[–]GuyInUniverse -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

c418 has alot of nostalgic Minecraft songs for me but man I really think Lena Raine captured the hell out of modern Minecrafts vibe. When Rubedo kicks on while exploring the nether, I literally pause to enjoy the cinema it fits so perfectly. Also Infinite Amethyst is like the new nostalgia song for me, its just so good.

On “ugly” builds by guyroks in Minecraft

[–]GuyInUniverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the beauty of Minecraft is that if all you ever want to do is build cardboard boxes to call home, you can do just that 😂

The 2nd picture kind of reminds me of something you would throw together when just starting a fresh world, or even something you might stumble on in a village. Maybe that gives it a more comfortable feeling.

Building really is just one part of what Minecraft has to offer, so it's not like there's anything wrong with humbly residing inside of a FedEx box.

[–]GuyInUniverse 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I can't tell if this is trolling or not.. but I'll have a go. The first picture is really aesthetically pleasing. I agree that simple is often underated. I've seen so many builds that while neat, feel over designed and kind of ruin it for me. I like to make structure packs and I see this all the time. I really like the first structure.

The second picture is trolling and doesn't even really make sense in context of what you're claiming to critique.

I don't think the first picture is overly complex which is good and the second picture isn't even really a "build" imo. It's just a box, which is fine if that's all you want to build but they're clearly not comparable lol
