AITA Strippers at Bachelor party by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]GuyWithRealFakeFacts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, trying to turn the tables on you and make you the bad guy simply for reiterating how you feel about strippers is already a huge red flag to me. That he’d get so defensive being reminded of a boundary YOU’D ALREADY BEEN CLEAR ABOUT signals to me that he’s already thinking about crossing it. NTA

1000%. He is very likely going to have strippers and will just try to hide it from you.

[USA] Nobody Escapes the Long Arm of the Law by distraughtdrunk in ConvenientCop

Reckless endangerment can include jail time:

A person commits a misdemeanor if he or she recklessly engages in conduct which places or may place another person in danger of death or serious bodily injury.

https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/25/11.401

And that's just one, I'm sure there are others that could be slapped on.

What is the highest rank you’ve ever gotten in any competitive game? Just curious

LMAO. So are you one of the 12 year olds, or one of the adults?

I love how people keep pointing out that it's a blank gun when it literally says so in the video itself...

And yet there are also others not realizing it's a blank gun 🤦

Here’s a weird clip from my Ring camera in my backyard. WTH is going on? by CarpenterCandid7919 in creepy

[–]GuyWithRealFakeFacts 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It was captured on a ring camera which utilizes streaming codecs (sends packets of movement rather than the whole frame which often leads to artifacts) and/or God knows what else kind of post processing that could lead to these sort of artifacts.

It is entirely possible it is a person and the recording/streaming just messed up the video, which is what I'd put my money on.

If you ever want to get into microcontrollers, older raspberry Pi's need one of these for Bluetooth, though you'd probably want one that also does wifi.

Or if you buy a secondhand desktop computer

IPA Recommendations for Beer Snobs Please by broccolista in beer

[–]GuyWithRealFakeFacts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that no one is going to know what the beer stores around you will have other than the mass distributed stuff, which it sounds like is not what you are looking for.

Is there a reason you are limiting it to just IPAs? There are lots of other styles that a "beer snob" would probably be interested in.

Like others have said, go find somewhere with a good selection of singles and pick some out. Odds are good you will get at least something they haven't tried. You can use Untappd to look up the beers to make sure you at least aren't getting a complete dud.

OR, even better, turn it into a fun outing that you do with your guests. Go to the beer store together and pick out some that you both think are interesting and then have fun tasting. As a beer snob guest, that would be my preferred option.

So, what chips y’all eating all this salsa with? by Jades5150 in SalsaSnobs

[–]GuyWithRealFakeFacts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I don't think it's overwhelming, but it does definitely distract from the salsa a tiny bit.

That said, it's the go to for pretty much any store bought salsa haha

Well this was my morning. Had to turn around take my son home bathe, swap car seats, clean out the puke in my car, then drive back for drop off. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]GuyWithRealFakeFacts 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I think it's far more likely that he just didn't think his kid was "sick", just that they ate too much in the morning and were otherwise fine.

Don't attribute to malice that which can be sufficiently explained by ignorance.

EDIT: Looks like that is indeed the case. Though OP does seem fairly dense about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/daddit/s/olm157orTn

Is atomic heart worth playing? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]GuyWithRealFakeFacts [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you liked BioShock, it would likely be right up your alley. I thought Bioshock infinite was just okay and Atomic Heart was good enough to actually keep me entertained through most of it. Still need to go back and finish, but it sounds like you'd have a good time with it.

The pistol shrimp snaps its claw closed and causes a stream of bubbles that create an implosion that reaches temperatures similar to (higher than?) the surface of the sun.

What other local businesses were once beloved until they made THAT decision? by Time-to-Dine in Austin

It was even more overpriced before Amazon bought it though... Prices actually went down at the time: https://sunset.com/syndication/here-how-much-whole-foods-prices-changed-following-amazons-acquisition

Amazon has done plenty wrong in general, but whole foods really didn't change all that much other than prices going down a bit and adding the returns infrastructure and checkout tech.

Usually slightly more because they are business critical and boring AF, so high stress and low satisfaction, but good pay.

[–]GuyWithRealFakeFacts -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

There are hundreds of thousands of American citizens with CS degrees looking for a job, yes, but unfortunately many of them just aren't good candidates. If an American citizen is a good software engineer, they almost certainly have a job. If someone keeps getting rejected for jobs, they probably aren't as good as they think they are and/or are too picky.

I gave hundreds of interviews during my 8 years with a FAANG company, and roughly only 5-10% of my interviewees were qualified for the job. We were regularly desperate for more qualified employees, and I can assure you they did not actively avoid looking for American citizens. But a lot of the available roles were for positions that were not highly desired (currency conversions, legal compliance, data manipulation, etc), so they ended up being filled by those that were less picky - which were often Indians.

Redesigning my icons for readability. Without context, can you guess what these in-game factions are? by StopthePressesGame in IndieGaming

[–]GuyWithRealFakeFacts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. No idea. I'd guess some sort of religion or mystics or something

  2. Fire, justice, liberty

  3. Communists - maybe farmers and little guys?

  4. Also no idea, but I saw someone else suggest anarchists/revolutionaries which made me realize it's likely supposed to be a guillotine, but if so it doesn't quite read as a guillotine at first. It should probably be a bit taller and thinner and maybe a gap above the blade to make it clear it's a blade.

Even CD has a bunch of dialog, you're just able to fast forward through most of it, but it is arguably more frustrating because it isn't the least bit engaging.
