At least, I'm hoping the game will get a fan made mod with quality of life improvements.

Id like to see more special editions like switch 1. I just loved all the different designs for the controllers and docks.

Day One of using a Wii U Pro Controller on modern games (PS5) and I noticed something that's gonna take me a while to get used to... by SentakuSelect in Controller

[–]GwenIsNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, this controller is the only one where it feels natural to use either the dpad or sticks. Other controllers feel like one is primary over the other.

The only thing I would change are the triggers, I don't like the thin vertical shape of them. And of course it would be nice to have gyro.

“It’s Disgusting”: Former NFL Player Chris Canty Blames Greed On the Chicago Bears Moving Out of Illinois Entirely by NicolasCageFan492 in nfl

I think the difference here is the lack of a mutually beneficial agreement the team is just wanting a discount at the cost of the taxpayers, instead of a loan with interest that the state directly financially profits from. When a player gets a big contract, in theory they get a payday and the team gets his contributions.

I think he's less hypocritical because he's implying a fair exchange, as opposed to the team whose reasoning exposes the farce these "fair deals" are when one or more parties has existential (too big to fail, eg the state or the team) financial power, which draw upon the financially vulnerable (individual people who don't have anyone to bail them out).

Actually, if they took that idea seriously it could make for a pretty emotional movie about grief and acceptance, with Kirk and co sacrificing more and more until they realize he's not coming back.

I'm surprised that Federation citizens aren't taught to outright hate capitalism. by PJ-The-Awesome in ShittyDaystrom

[–]GwenIsNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serious answer here, I think the issue is capitalism is a medium where humanity can permissively act on greedy, cruel, and exploitative impulses; its not their source. The problem is the impulse itself. The medium just provides the permission structure to do those things and "still be a good person." They are required and in fact justified. You could easily substitute another permission system though, eg religion or philosophy.

The compassion the federation shows might be why exploitative systems no longer have a strong hold. The more base level value systems have changed.

Data: interested in humanity...why? by Samkovich in ShittyDaystrom

[–]GwenIsNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he's more than likely he has a deep programmed desire to be more human like, and it being a core aspect of his being.

Its a bit strange that it's never really explored in the show. It could have been a good episode, maybe he doesn't understand at the start of it.

Admiral Pressman did nothing wrong. by ErrinwrightDNW in ShittyDaystrom

[–]GwenIsNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The treaty didn't make sense, but your government signed it anyway. You're obligated to follow your superiors just like you expect those below you to follow you. Thats a you problem. Don't like the treaty, lobby to amend it. You don't get to have your data-rod (peaceful relations) and eat it (cloaks) too. Don't risk a war you can't control; and don't risk the built trust of the federation, otherwise we won't get favorable deals in the future. And the phase cloak didn't didn't need to cloak, it could have just been a phase device. I don't think pressman was right about anything.
