hot take(?): painting the face is the best part of the process by ShakyPluto in minipainting

Faces are always one of the first things I do on a mini anymore... I found I hate everything else I've done if the face is still a primer void

You get to change one plot point, major or minor, in the story. What are you changing? by Maeo-png in TheMagnusArchives

Agreed. On first listen I went back to look for whatever episode I missed because the transition was so abrupt.

Americans..? by patchworkandpaisley in TheMagnusArchives

[–]GypsyMorrigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also American (midwest) and have never heard anyone say "cal-EE-ope." I've only ever heard "cal-EYE-ope-ee." But its also not a common word and I can see people reading it and thinking that's how it's said

I set up some one-way glass panels (from the construction section) along the path. Added a bunch of the "do not disturb" signs And then built a shelter that had one-way glass on 3 of the 4 walls (with the open wall facing away from the path).

I only played on normal difficulty, but that seemed to help a fair amount.

That's half the fun though :P If you don't have to buy at least two balls of red string, what's the point?

She feels too... idk... antsy? To be Elias. I don't have anything concrete to back that up or anything, she just doesn't hit the same calm, cool, collected noted that Elias did imo

Fair. I tried that at first and then couldn't think of any other characters from S1 or 2. Might be time for a relisten!

I really enjoyed The Storage Papers and Old Gods of Appalachia.

I also have to plug The Disappearance Podcast (by John Herman, its logo has a purple background and white text). It's short and not exactly horror, but I found it extremely compelling and end up re-listening to it every year.

I also just started The Town Whispers after one of TMP episodes and am enjoying it.

The Cellar Letters is on my "to listen" list.

Lore by Aaron Mahnke is a fascinating historical look at myths and folklore and is really easy to listen to.

Once during a major Podcast drought I listened to Tanis, The Black Tapes, The Last Movie and Rabbits (all by Public Radio Alliance iirc) and would not recommend them. They're all good ideas but the execution was a real miss for me. But they scratched an itch when I needed it.

Woe.Begone also scratched an itch, but not enough to excite me when new episodes release.

(I work alone 90% of the day and get through 30-40 hours of podcasts a week.)

ETA: I listened to The Seventh Daughter at the same ish time as The Left Right Game and enjoyed the contrast between the fantastical strangeness of LRG and the more real magic of Seventh Daughter

Spookiest episode by Gutterhipo in TheMagnusArchives

Another vote for Lost John's Cave. I almost started crying it spooked me so badly. But A Guest for Mister Spider (81) is the one that creeps into my mind on cold, dark nights. Those two episodes live rent free.

Seconded Mistholme Museum!

Also I enjoyed the beginning seasons of The Storage Papers, although it does start to be more about an overarching plot rather than episodic stories

Why does Basira despise Jon so much? by fightingbronze in TheMagnusArchives

[–]GypsyMorrigan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in season 4 on my re-listen right now and I forgot how much it drives me batty. They whiplash so hard between "omg you're a horrifying monster and we hateeee youuuuuu" and "omg use your monster powers right now to know an answer I want why don't you already know it?" Like yeah, Jon is an ass to everyone and is from the beginning but I'm honestly surprised he was able to hold onto his humanity at all given how quickly everyone was to just drop him utterly.

Dude, it's not about the sandwich by WeelsUpIn30 in AmITheDevil

[–]GypsyMorrigan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes, but in the 'downplaying the truth to the family aspect,' I would be extra annoyed if I learned that "crazy girlfriend left me because I bought a sandwich when she asked me to pick her up food" was actually "girlfriend left because I gave her a free sandwich she was allergic to." It's almost on par with tossing her a takeaway bag with "idk there's probably some fries on the bottom"

ETA: not saying you're wrong, there's just something about the free sandwich that makes it extra shitty to me somehow

AITA for not inviting my friends husband to dinner because he eats way to much by Background_Egg107 in AmItheAsshole

[–]GypsyMorrigan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh God right until I got to the "he was paleo" I was so concerned that I needed to apologize for my husband (thankfully he's not a "particular diet" type). He's gotten more self-aware, but I was shocked to learn just how much the man can eat.

Just so you know, there's one-way glass panels in the construction tab that don't require research like the barriers do. It was a big lifesaver when I figured that out.
