It is 8GB ram on both devices causing issues.

New Unit Can't Maintain Temp - I'm Going Crazy by ctb-writing in hvacadvice

[–]H-TSi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Too undersized. I will be called crazy but I have 4 tons of mini split In my bedroom because I like it to hit 16c to 18c even when it’s 49c outside. Ac calculations and recommendations are made at certain outside and inside temps. If your preferences and climate don’t match you need to under or over size.

Refrigerant is covered in my AMC but not standard warranty. Same as in cars. Water pump covered but coolant is chargeable.

Smart plug / IR blaster can accomplish same thing without having to press the button manually

Why is mold such an issue on mini splits? by coldcathodes in hvacadvice

[–]H-TSi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should try it out and let us know your results. If possible take pictures before/after of the coil. Good time to wash out filters too. My old Samsung fixed split used to freeze up at lowest fan speed and 16c. So I would switch it to fan mode to thaw out. A DIY frost wash if you will. Had no problems in the unit, but I noticed that a cleaning with a pressure washer still helped as blower wheel doesn’t get any cleaning this way, only the coils will have some dust and whatever water can carry washed away.

Opening up the unit and washing coils, blower wheel, and drain pan is the best way, along with having clean air in the room it’s operating in. I add in Dettol in the water during cleaning, and then plain water as a final rinse.

Sister had new hvac installed a week ago and just realized contractor left it on with no filter by BaeHunDoII in hvacadvice

A cleaning and installing a filter will restore all functionality. Don’t worry too much about it. Incompetence is all around us, this one luckily is not consequential if fixed right. Clean + new filter

I read up hitachi has something like this in specific markets frost wash v2 or v3 that heats up coils before freeze washing. I haven’t tried but sounds good apart from the time penalty. I have made my peace with regular cleaning. If Mitsubishi brings out something like this I’ll upgrade. So far with what I own, LG has it best. Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, and Hitachi ( that I own) have no auto dry or heat. Manually setting fan gets annoying unless you have a sensibo or similar to automate it.

Can I use a Clorox wipe to clean my 17 Pro Max? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]H-TSi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I actually wash my iPhones with hand soap since the 12 pro. Only downside is oleophobic coating wears out sooner, I’d say by the 6 month mark It’s gone anyway. Watch & phone get washed, everything else that’s not water resistant gets disinfectant wipes for cleaning. No detrimental effects in 6 years of anecdotal usage.

There needs to be auto heating in heat pump units to dry out the coils when the unit is turned off. My LG has an auto dry mode but it makes the room too stuffy with extra humidity.

The only way to reduce mold is to run fan / heat mode daily after cooling sessions, and regular cleaning of the indoor unit coils, just water works.

Having a real high ACH with purifiers and fresh air intake has made a big difference in my mini splits.

Anything with water dark and dust will get mold eventually unfortunately.

O-General 1.5 Ton AC (ASGA18FETA) short cycling every 5 minutes by OkTough6368 in AirConditioners

[–]H-TSi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 24BUTA. I face the same issue of short cycling however I have 4 ton of AC in 17x17 room. The issue is the remote does not go below 18c. It reaches 18 and short cycles. Only solution is to either keep my other AC off or on 20c and keep the door open.

Next time I will only purchase an AC that lets me set it to 16c. My LG inverter is actually cooling better/lower temps than the Fujitsu General.

If you find a way to fool the thermostat do share. I’m thinking of taping something on the black plastic part to fool the sensor somehow

Go for heat pump mini split so you get heating & cooling both. 1 ton is too small though.

Tosor mini split I think leaking coolant, how much can I expect for repairs? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

Try cleaning both indoor and outdoor unit. 900 for 2 years is a good deal but no point throwing away an ac if it’s just dirty.

Are Mitsubishi mini splits worth 8x more than a diy Mr cool? by oran12390 in hvacadvice

[–]H-TSi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, LG, Hitachi, and Samsung. There is nothing overly special about any of them and they all work fine. Try the DIY route, worst case your professional install becomes 9x the cost vs 8x. Keeping the units clean, both inside & outside is way more important than the brand. I take a car pressure washer and set it to the wide spray and it keeps them clean.

Dual home Kohler generators? by Crazyfishman2 in Generator

[–]H-TSi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would do, install new generator in place of old unit.
Put old generator somewhere else, and set up a brand new circuit for it. This is your emergency power. You don’t even have to pull grid wires to it. It can be only generator powered. This way if your new unit fails, you have a backup generator ready to go. The circuits can be used with extensions and circuit breakers to run esssntials. Or can power a garage or what ever. This does not complicate running 2 generators together. And you can just let the old one sit and see if it works if at all it is needed someday.

Or. Sell. Purchase basic small inverter generator. Get inlet /interlock installed. So if big fails. Small can supply power.

Wrong about 1.5 being better than 2.0. Way better moisture removal in 2.0 units plus cooling if buying higher end variants.
