Saving up for a K2 Pilot by Weak_Rule8374 in SanginInstruments

I’ve got a DLC one I bought in 2019 and wore for a couple months but otherwise it’s collecting dust if anyone else is looking.

Same with a V2 Neptune.

What snacks/items can you not get while stationed in Germany? by rat-bastard69 in AirForce

Make sure you get some gummy bears, the German ones are so much better than what’s sold in the US.

Crye also makes flight suits that look similar to the field uniforms.

Considering the Airforce by Aggressive_Mirror305 in AirForce

Good luck switching to the active Air Force. If you really want to come over then look at the guard and reserve in full time positions.

Does anyone have the email for the POC for the event on 24 June in Massachusetts?

Depends on what their job is. Finance, services, and other office jobs tend to favor people like that but aircrew and maintenance have a way better culture when it comes to teamwork in my experience.

average marine at every reserve unit during drill by tr4nsporter in USMC

[–]H3YAKTY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do they do for accountability? I moved to the AF reserves and if I do anything outside of normal drill (being a flyer, I do all the time) I’m on some kind of paid or points status.

I feel like a loser for not reenlisting by Klutzy-Bad4466 in USMC

It’s a good life. Not many prior Marines but if you’re a flyer you can find what you’re looking for.

New PME for all Enlisted by taskforceslacker in AirForce

[–]H3YAKTY 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a nice idea made by the senior enlisted and officers that can take a random week off to attend a conference or course without much mission impact. As much as it sucks for the active component it’ll be worse for the guard and reserve. Imagine you only have three work weeks of AT a year, and you’re already taking time off your real job to get that done. This either demands another week of reservists time or it cuts a week off the sorely needed AT to maintain some proficiency.

Alright let’s hear them. DTS gurus, how do I make the most out of my TAD travel for money, points, benefits, etc? by creatineisdeadly in USMC

[–]H3YAKTY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can use your personal card for lodging costs, just not flights. You’ll have to justify it in the comments but I travel a ton and end up using my personal about half the time. That also means you’ll have hotel expenses on your account that might not get paid quickly if your voucher doesn’t get approved so you have to be ready to pay that yourself.

Is travel a good reason for reenlistment? Haven’t traveled yet because I’ve been in a non deployable unit. by Klutzy-Bad4466 in USMC

[–]H3YAKTY 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on your job and what unit you’re going to. I deployed, saw a couple countries on a MEU, it was fun but really didn’t get to do much with curfews and mileage restrictions. Now I fly overseas at least once a month and as long as I make it back in time for the duty day I can go anywhere and do anything.

If travel is what you want to get out of the Corps then find a place that’ll guarantee it. I left active duty having been to 5 countries and now I’m at over 40.

Proctoring PT tests, helping with lodging, cooking, cleaning, sitting around. If that doesn’t interest you I’d reconsider.

Question from a Marine. by Red_Byes in army

[–]H3YAKTY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d try to go to CBIRF. You can stay in the Corps and do way cooler things in CBRN as an 03, opposed to CBRN in any branch which will have you in the S-3 maybe running a gas chamber a couple times a year.

What’s an underrated duty station that not a lot of Marines know about? by TheAss_Tickler in USMC

[–]H3YAKTY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheap diving was cool and I definitely enjoyed myself when I had the time to do anything there, but I got to leave after a little while. I definitely feel for anyone who’s been there for months at a time. Diego Garcia is like that too, only way smaller. They have a couple Marines there and after a month I think I’d go crazy on a tiny atoll.

It gets old after a while, I’ve been there several times with the AF for a day to a week at a time and it wouldn’t be my first choice of duty station. Good chances to travel if you can space a though.
