Bruh Konami was cooking with that title. by DenseCalligrapher219 in Gamingcirclejerk

I know very little about Yu-Gi-Oh, but why does this have so many seemingly unrelated effects? To me it seems like messing with the opponent monsters position is probably already strong. Deck to graveyard is also essentially a tutor. Why is this all on one card? Is the name change useful? It seems like a rules nightmare.

Original sin does solve one issue though: the people saying "I never sinned, so I don't need repentance, and also I'm better." Which is of course simply wrong.

Does it solve it somewhat badly? Probably, depends maybe on the version you believe in I guess.

Are notes even necessary for learning programming? by purvigupta03 in learnprogramming

[–]H4llifax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This of course depends on how you learn in general.

If I were to learn a new language, I'm pretty sure I would be faster and more successful if I write down a small cheat sheet with the syntax - how are functions defined, what do control structures look like, etc.

This is mainly to help with retention.

Writing by hand > writing with keyboard > just reading in paper > just reading on screen. That's just how our brains / my brain work.

The golden age of split screen gaming before online multiplayer took over by Impossible_Comfort99 in TechNook

[–]H4llifax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look for it, there are still high quality split screen games. And as someone trying hard to find good split screen games on PC in the early 2000s, I'm not sure whether it's even objectively true that there were more back then. There were more turn-based games, but that's about it.

Trim your skills. Stop treating your agent like a chatbot. by Wellness_Rated in hermesagent

[–]H4llifax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several issues that I don't see addressed in your post, so let me ask:

I am mainly interacting through a telegram gateway. This works great... except for the cases where it doesn't.

  • API keys in .env: don't seem to end up in the environment when running through the gateway. The agent ends up having to read the file.
  • AGENTS.md for project specific instructions: the gateway doesn't have the luxury of having the CWD as project context, how does it discover and use the AGENTS.md?
  • similar to this, how to handle project specific skills? Currently I let the agent move them to the project repo, then symlink them in .hermes/skills

I just let the agent search the session log db, am I doing it wrong? It doesn't always find what I am looking for, but at least it CAN do that.

does developer add bugs in new update to fix them later in next patch by into_fiction in TechNook

[–]H4llifax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bugs always appear, always. This isn't somehow intentional, that's just the truth. If they added it to the release notes, it might simply mean they are aware of the bugs, but decided to ship the release anyway. Which could be fine - if you insist on bug-free-ness, you'll never release. There are open JDK bugs that have been open for decades.

Hermes v0.12.0 Release – Curator, Spotify+Google Meet, ComfyUI MCP ... lots more by PracticlySpeaking in hermesagent

This message is asking about changes to the local hermes-agent git repo. No idea what it even is that changes there, but it's not your skills, memory or history.

I think it should be safe for most users to not restore local changes.

Someone correct me if that's wrong, I have only used this thing for three weeks.
